PEA is joining PSG not Monaco. It's not a bad deal if they win the CL. They won't care about his re sale value then.

Yes, PSG, it was typo. Monaco won't spend much this season, after Rybolovlev was caught in Panama Papers.

I was shocked when you said Monaco lol. I know they aren't exactly big spenders but scout very wisely. A shame that there squad will be broken up. :mv

France has the best youth system in world & the culture is there to promote youth. In no other top tier league you'll see so many U18 kids starting regularly. Also, big part of Africa being former French colony (almost entire football rich Africa), French academies get lots of talented & physically rich African kids, whom they transform into world class talent. Problem in French football starts once these talented players becomes superstar - divided & individualistic society with many, many social sects., they hardly can bind together. From Raymond Copa, Fontain to Ben Arfa, Benzema - there'll always be trouble with French players & the star players themselves somehow manage to spoil the party (in '82, one of the French player did a John Terry with Platini's wife at the hotel where the team was staying prior to leaving for Spain:().

On individual skills, French players are a hybrid of Latin America & Europe - physical but extremely skillful. I am sure, Monaco'll find some exciting talent to replace their departing stars.

So everyone though Jose over paid for him one year ago, now Neymar goes for £200m, Coutinho at around £90-100M, Dembele £120M, if he was to be sold this year, he would have probably cost about £150M, how much changes in just one year.

JoMou knows what he is doing. He is an egoistic Narcissus, but a wonderful Manager. He used Pogba to "Tap" Lukaku, and bluffed Everton for 85mn (I take Rooney's price at 10mn, who was given a free release), because he could see where the market was going after the tv & sponsorship money. Had he waited for a month, Lukaku would have cost 100mn alone, at least.

It's OK, the market is crazy now.

Is he worth? Not only Pogba, no player, not even Messi, CR is worth that money. But, it's an inflated market these days. 38 years back Trevor Francis was bought for 1mn, then the top clubs annual gross revenue was less than 10mn, most PL (1st Division) Clubs would struggle to spend that amount for entire seasonal transfer - now days there are many Clubs that has a gross annual earnings of more than 250mn - it's just inflation. Maradona would have been sold for a quarter billion at least, if there was a buyer.

Did MU made a mistake in that purchase? No, absolutely not. In football (or any sports), there is an exponential price for exceptional talents. At the end of the day, it's a matter of if the player improves the starting XI significantly or not. It doesn't work that instead of 1 Pogba, you buy 10 Henderson & financially that's a better business. Suarez kept Brenda in his job for 2 years - I am sure now Liverpool would like to spend double of his selling price, if he was 26 now & willing to come. The best ever transfer business to me was Juventus in 2000 - they spent 35mn for a 23 years old GK, which that time was criticised by everyone (Naughty people said that Agneli family were washing their black money) - in return, Juve got one of the all time best ever for almost 2 decades between their posts.

It's a tremendous buy, at 23, Pogba is destined to win the Ballon De Oorr. SAF made the biggest mistake of his life by allowing this kid to leave. It was a mistake because he was the player of U20 WC, after the year he left. A 6'3" power dynamo with the ball skill of a Latin player & ambidextrous shooting skill like a forward is unique. He is like Patrick Vierra, Yaya Yaya & Cantona in one package. It's sad for me as Liverpool fan, that we could have got this kid for 29mn in 2014, as a replacement of SteveG, but Brenda didn't have the balls, neither the name to attract such a mercurial talent.

Joking apart, that was a massive, massive mistake by SAF - 100mn is obnoxious money - I take half out. Sir Alex, sold a 18 years old kid without giving proper chance for 800K & his club bought him back for 50mn, 5 years later - that a massive, massive mistake. Had that not been Sir Alex, by now every media would have shredded him to pieces.

Football world is dominated by sponsors & business houses - otherwise for 2014-15 season, what he did for Juve in Seria A & CL, was good enough for a realistic shot for Ballon De Oorr. He has already won the Golden Ball in U20 WC.

Also, he is just 23 - already is one of the best player in his position. He is not a forward - box to box mid-fielder. Players like him matures with a bit of age as speed is not their best asset. For a forward, 23 to 29 is probably best age, for Pogba that's between 25 to 32. At his age, Zizu had just debuted for France (was playing for Bourdoux) - Pirolo, Yaya, Scholes, Keene, Lothar Mathius or even Platini hardly made names at 23 - this kid is dominating his position. Deschamps played him at more defensive position & paid with the Euro, JoMou would play him as the advanced CM of a double pivot 4231 or at centre of diamond 442 with Rooney & Ibra in front & Mata (or his replacement Makhterian) & Martial at wide wings - just see how he runs riot in English football, which is much more open than Seria A.

Can anyone see the glimpses now? Mou absolutely robbed Juve.

Never denied the fact he was a good player. £90 million was a lot to spend on him. But looking at the prices these days, you might be right.

One of many to come. In one sense, he is lucky to be born few years later - at 23, he has CR at 32 & Messi at 30+. I believe, he'll win multiple Ballon De Oorr

By the way, heard that he is practicing Muslim - great to know, though not sure how it's like living a practicing Muslim, when you earn $ half a million/week at 23!!!!!

Well what a bargain he was at £90m

10 assists, 4 goals and he has missed half the season - easily the best player of the season so far.

The guy is world class and rival fans couldn't take the fact he joined us and used his fee as a stick to beat him with.

£89M? Cheap. Thanks Juve.

This rumor is gaining traction now.

Paul Pogba says he "still has a contract" at Manchester United but did not commit his long-term future to the Premier League club.

The 25-year-old midfielder fell out of favour last season and was linked with a move to La Liga champions Barcelona in the summer.

Manager Jose Mourinho said last month he "couldn't be happier" with Pogba.

The France World Cup winner told Sky Germany: "My future is currently in Manchester."

Speaking before the Uefa Nations League match against Germany, Pogba added: "I still have a contract, I am playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months."

Former Juventus midfielder Pogba was dropped to the bench by Mourinho for both legs of United's Champions League last-16 defeat by Sevilla last term.

But he was made captain for the opening two games of the Premier League season in the absence of Antonio Valencia and has scored twice so far.

Reports on Thursday said Pogba will not agitate for a move away from United in January and will remain at the club until at least next summer.

Asked about his relationship with Mourinho, Pogba replied: "We have a pure coach-player relationship, that's right.

"One thing I can assure you, I will always give 100%, no matter which coach I always give everything for United - I can not say more."

Is there anything positive about this guy in the news?

Pobgo's brother hits back at Mourinho

Paul Pogba had a strained relationship with Jose Mourinho this season

Jose Mourinho was to blame for the breakdown of his relationship with Paul Pogba, according to the midfielder’s brother.

The Portuguese was sacked by Manchester United after the club's worst start to a season in 28 years.

Fractures in his relationship with Pogba began to emerge in September when the France World Cup winner was stripped of the vice-captaincy before Sky Sports News filmed them having an animated disagreement on the training ground.

Now, Mathias Pogba, who plays for Tours in the French third division, has lifted the lid on the relationship behind the scenes by claiming the former manager's ego dominated the dressing room.

"It was Mourinho who was the problem," Mathias Pogba told RMC Sport. "Mourinho still wants to be the centre of attention. The problem was Mourinho, right down the line.

"In the locker room, outside the locker room...everything, I know my brother, and you tell him, 'Go. Go play ', the rest, he will do it.

"From what we see of Mourinho, he always wants to be the maestro, the centre of attention.

"(Paul) does not even calculate that aspect: you respect him, he will respect you, you trust him, he will produce big performances."

Pogba, formerly the world's most expensive player, was an unused substitute in Jose Mourinho's final game in charge - a comprehensive 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

But he was immediately restored to the starting line-up by new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has responded with four goals and four assists as United won all four of the Norwegian's first four Premier League games in charge.

He's been fantastic recently, but playing against PSG will be a completely different kettle of fish. Let's see how he does there, obviously being French himself he might have a big role to play

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he thinks Paul Pogba will still be at the club next season - but cannot guarantee it.

The 26-year-old France midfielder - who is contracted until July 2021 - has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

He has scored 24 goals in 83 league appearances for United since rejoining from Juventus in 2016 and was named in the PFA Team of the Year on Thursday.

"I think he will be here next season," said Solskjaer.

"Paul has done fantastic for us. We want him to do well. He is a leader in the dressing room.

"If I could guarantee I would say yes. You can't guarantee but I think he will be."

Speaking at a news conference before United's game against Chelsea on Sunday (16:30 BST), Solskjaer also said he had no intention of dropping goalkeeper David de Gea despite a succession of recent mistakes.

Against Manchester City on Wednesday, Bernardo Silva's low shot went inside De Gea's near post and the keeper was at fault when Leroy Sane's drive went straight through him.

"I trust David. He is best player we have had for the last six or seven years. He will be fine," Solskjaer said.

He revealed midfielder Ander Herrera may be available for Sunday's game after a hamstring injury.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has "no doubt" midfielder Paul Pogba will stay at the club this summer.

The France World Cup winner missed United's final pre-season game, a penalty-shootout win over AC Milan in the International Champions Cup.

But Solskjaer said Pogba, who did not travel to Cardiff for the match, was not risked due to a back strain.

"I wasn't expecting him [to travel]," he said.

"I spoke to him after training and he didn't feel right. It's not an injury, it's just some pain. I wasn't going to risk anything."

Reports claimed Pogba failed to make the trip to Cardiff in an attempt to force a move to Real Madrid.

Solskjaer also confirmed the £80m signing of Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire is set to be announced "very soon".

In addition to Pogba, Romelu Lukaku was also missing as United drew 2-2 at the Principality Stadium on Saturday.

Lukaku's absence throughout pre-season has also been attributed to injury, but the Belgium striker's future has been the subject of speculation all summer, with Inter Milan and Juventus reportedly interested.

United led through Marcus Rashford, before former Liverpool midfielder Suso and Samu Castillejo put Milan in front.

Jesse Lingard levelled up to take the game to spot-kicks.

And Welshman Daniel James scored the winning penalty in the Principality Stadium.

Lukaku continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

United start their Premier League campaign at home against Chelsea on Sunday, 11 August.

Victory for United against Milan means they have won all six of their pre-season matches, albeit with this one requiring a penalty shootout, which finished 5-4.

Daniel Maldini, the 17-year-old son of Italy and Milan legend Paolo, missed the only spot-kick.

The result means Portuguese side Benfica win the 2019 ICC competition, with United having needed to win by three goals or more to claim the trophy.

Paul Pogba's Rolls-Royce has been seized by cops after he was pulled over for driving with a French number plate.

To be honest, I don't think he was ever worth that much. But, he is a really talented player.

Paul Pogba is "desperate to make up for lost time" after making an impressive return to the Manchester United side, says manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

France World Cup winner Pogba, 27, came back from an ankle injury to play for the first time since 26 December.

He came off the bench to win a penalty, converted by Bruno Fernandes, as United drew 1-1 at Tottenham on Friday.

"Paul Pogba is a fantastic player and is finally fit again," Solskjaer told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Midfielder Pogba played only his ninth club game of an injury-ravaged campaign and managed 34 minutes, in United's first game since the season was halted in March by the coronavirus pandemic.

He completed 17 of his 18 passes, won the ball back four times and managed two blocks, with Solskjaer describing the performance as that of an "all-round midfielder".

Solskjaer - who had called before the match on Pogba to show his leadership qualities - said: "It is great to see him [Pogba] show his qualities and the contribution he made was big in us getting a penalty.

"He has had horrific injury-hit season and he is desperate to make up for lost time. Paul has always wanted to play. He loves football.

"It has been great having him back training with us. On and off the pitch, he is such an enthusiastic and passionate boy. Everyone can see the quality he can provide.

"Paul always has a point to prove to himself and to us. He expects a lot from himself and wants to be the best. He trains hard and loves football."

Pogba also showed signs of linking up with January signing Fernandes, who now has three goals and three assists since joining the club from Sporting Lisbon.

Solskjaer added: "It is a definite partnership that we want to build on. They have trained together now they have had half an hour on the pitch together.

"We want the best players on the pitch, of course, and want to find a balance in the team."

He changed the game when he came on yesterday. Too many excuses are made when he doesn't perform well. He should be performing like that more often.

Paul Pogba is expecting Manchester United to open contract talks once their Europa League campaign concludes.

The midfielder has a year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months.

The Frenchman was linked with Real Madrid and former club Juventus last summer, but now it appears the 27-year-old is willing to sign a new contract at United.

Pogba has missed the majority of the prolonged 2019-20 campaign through injury, but his impressive return to the starting XI this season could yet end in Europa League glory - with a new deal to follow.

"Pogba is happy at United and he's expecting them to open contract talks once their Europa League campaign is over," reports Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth.

"His current deal runs out next summer but United always insert this year option so they don't get caught out with free transfers.

"It should be said United are in a better position to negotiate with Pogba and the returning Dean Henderson, as it stands from Sheffield United, following the departure of Alexis Sanchez and all of the money his wages have now freed.

"There appears to be a willingness from all parties to get around the table as far as Pogba is concerned."

Another matter for United to resolve is that of Jesse Lingard's future at the club.

"As for Jesse Lingard, like Pogba he's got a year left on his contract, another option of 12 months as well," Dharmesh added.

"Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Lingard to stay, Lingard loves United, but he can't be given assurances on first-team football.

"He's not in the first XI at the moment and very rarely makes the bench it has to be said. He's unlikely to get those reassurances of playing time in the future.

"So decisions have to be made for Lingard, and indeed Pogba, but they will be made once United have a better idea of potential arrivals."

Standing between United and a Europa League final are five-time winners Sevilla, with the two sides facing off in the last four on Sunday.

"We are going to play against Manchester United in the next match - they're the biggest team in the world but we're going to be prepared for them," Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui said.

"We're focused on the next game, against a top, historic side, one of the best in the history of the sport who are in great form. We will give our best as we always do.

"To play against them will be really tough, but we'll go into it believing we can beat them."

France manager Didier Deschamps says Paul Pogba has tested positive for Covid-19

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has tested positive for coronavirus, says France manager Didier Deschamps.

The 27-year-old will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

He will miss France's Nations League game in Sweden on Saturday, 5 September and the home game against Croatia three days later.

However, Pogba could be eligible for selection for United's Premier League opener against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on 19 September.

His club said: "Everybody at United wishes Paul a speedy recovery ahead of the new season."

Pogba will be replaced in the France squad by 17-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

"I've completed, at the very last minute, a change in the list," Deschamps said on Thursday.

"Paul Pogba, who was previously on the list, unfortunately for him he carried out a test yesterday which was returned as positive this morning."

Paul Pogba says it's a dream to play at Real Madrid one day

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has admitted that it is a dream of his to play for Real Madrid one day.

But the 27-year-old added that he will "do everything" to put United "where the club deserves" to be.

The France player has regularly been linked with a move away from the team he re-joined for £89m in 2016.

The World Cup-winner's contract expires in the summer, although United can activate the option of a further year until 2022.

And Pogba said he has not had any discussions with the club over an extension.

"No-one has told me anything," he said at a press conference with the France national team on Thursday. "I have not spoken to [United executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward. We haven't spoken about a new deal.

"At the moment, I am in Manchester and I am concentrating about getting back to my best form.

"I think there will be a moment when the club will come and talk to me and maybe offer me something, or not."

Asked about the prospect of a move to Madrid, with whom he has been linked on a number of occasions, he replied: "All football players would love to play for Real Madrid. It is a dream for me, why not one day?

"I am in Manchester and I love my club. I am playing in Manchester, I'm having fun and I want to do everything to put the club where it deserves.

"I will give everything to the max, like my team-mates."

United have had a troubled start to the season, winning just one of their opening three league games.

Their last game before the international break saw them hammered 6-1 at home by Tottenham to leave them 16th in the Premier League table.

Pogba has started all three of United's league games this campaign, having self-isolated after testing positive for coronavirus in August.

'Unacceptable. Fake news!' Paul Pogba slams claims from the Middle East that he will quit the French football team in retaliation for statements by French president Emmanuel Macron that Islam was the source of international terrorism

Paul Pogba is NOT quitting international football as a retaliation to statements by French president Emmanuel Macron alleging that Islam was the source of international terrorism.

According to various Middle Eastern news sources, the Manchester United star - who is a Muslim - 'resigned' after the comments made by Macron in a highly-controversial speech on Friday.

But Sportsmail understands Pogba has no intentions of quitting the France international team.

And on Monday morning, Pogba took to Instagram to let his followers know that the initial reports were false - writing on his story: 'Unacceptable. Fake news.'

The United midfielder added he was: 'appalled, angry, shocked and frustrated' at the reports.

Macron’s comments came after French teacher Samuel Paty, 47, was murdered on his way home from the junior high school he taught in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, 40 kilometres northwest of Paris.

The French government bestowed the country's highest honour on the teacher, who had shown images of the prophet Muhammad to schoolchildren in his class before being attacked.

Macron described the murder as an 'Islamic terrorist attack' that took the life of the French teacher and later added: 'Unity and firmness are the only answers to the monstrosity of Islamist terrorism.'

Pogba's supposed resignation from France side was said to be motivated by Macron’s comments.

It was also alleged in the reports from the Middle East that Pogba, who converted to Islam in his 20s, also resented the French government's decision to bestow the country's highest honour on Mr Paty.

He was awarded the French Legion d'honneur in recognition of the fact that he died trying to explain the importance of freedom of speech.

The report claimed that Pogba considered the decision as an insult to him and to French Muslims, especially since Islam is the second religion in France after Christianity. There are an estimated six million Muslims in the country.

Calls are growing meanwhile around the world for people to boycott French goods in the wake of the president's comments accusing Muslims of separatism. He also pledged that France would 'not to give up our cartoons' depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

Earlier this month, Macron announced plans for tougher laws to tackle what he called 'Islamist separatism' in France, which has strong secular values. Macron said France's Muslims were in danger of forming a 'counter-society'.

Macron's comments have also sparked an international diplomatic incident, with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan accusing his counterpart of 'needing treatment on a mental level' for pledging to fight Islamic radicalism.

France has recalled its ambassador to Turkey for consultations after Erdogan's insult.

Manchester United and France midfielder Paul Pogba says he will take legal action after "total fake" reports said he was to quit international football.

Pogba, 27, was reported to be quitting the France national team over comments made by the country's president, Emmanuel Macron, about Islam.

World Cup winner Pogba, who is Muslim, has 10 goals and 72 caps for France.

"Absolutely 100% unfounded news about me are going around, stating things I have never said or thought," he said.

Writing on Instagram, he said he was "appalled, angry, shocked and frustrated" at some media "using him to make total fake headlines" and "adding the French national team and my religion to the pot".

He added: "I am against any and all forms of terror and violence. Unfortunately, some press people don't act responsibly when writing the news, abusing their press freedom, not verifying if what they write/reproduce is true, creating a gossip chain without caring it affects people's lives and my life.

"I am taking legal action against the publishers and spreaders of these 100% Fake News."

Paul Pogba: Manchester United midfielder made 'stupid mistake' with Arsenal penalty

Paul Pogba has admitted he made a "stupid mistake" to give Arsenal their victory at Manchester United.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer felt Sunday's Old Trafford contest had "0-0 all over it" until Pogba needlessly lunged in on Hector Bellerin midway through the second half.

Bellerin appeared to be in a position of no danger when Pogba moved in and succeeded only in kicking the Spaniard, drawing the penalty which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted to settle the game.

"Maybe I was a bit out of breath and it made me do this stupid mistake," the France international told BBC Sport.

"I felt like I touched him a bit and I knew I was in the box. I shouldn't have given a penalty away like that.

"I'm not the best defensively in the box but I can learn and work on that."

It was the third time Pogba, 27, had conceded a penalty during Solskjaer's time as United manager. No-one else has conceded more than one.

"Paul has held his hand up," said Solskjaer, who was overseeing his 100th game as United boss.

"He knows he could and should have done better in that instance. He knows if he stays on his feet it will be OK because the boy isn't going anywhere."

Juventus transfer chief Fabio Paratici has refused to rule out a move for Paul Pogba in next summer.

The midfielder left Turin to join Manchester United in 2016 for what was then a world record €105million fee.

Pogba has struggled to settle on his return to England though, and was left on the bench for Wednesday's Champions League loss to Istanbul Basaksehir.

The World Cup winner has been linked with a move back to Juve and when questioned on it the Serie A giants' sporting director didn't rule anything out.

He seems distracted, as if he has been tapped up by another club.

Not playing anywhere near as good as he was towards the end of last season.

Real Madrid could sign France midfielder Paul Pogba, 27, from Manchester United for 60m euros (£54m) next summer. (AS)

Never worth 90 million quid, end of day it's his performances on the field that count and hes been terribly inconsistent, the problem with pogba is the premiership is to quick for him he doesn't have the legs against quick opposition

Pogba?
Is he still playing for Manu in the Premiere League?

He's been non existent

You’ve got to be seriously good to be worth £100m , by that I mean as good a footballer as Hafeez is a batsman when the conditions are good for batting and the bowling is mediocre - I can only think of Maradona who comes close to that level of brilliance as a footballer.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba "cannot be happy" with his situation at the club, says France manager Didier Deschamps.

Pogba has figured in 11 games for the Old Trafford side this season but started in just five of those.

He was again on the bench at Everton last Saturday before coming on after 82 minutes in a much-needed 3-1 win for United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Pogba is with France's squad for games against Finland, Portugal and Sweden.

"He is in a situation with his club where he cannot be happy, neither with his playing time, nor with his positioning," said Deschamps.

"He is not in his best period, he has had a series of injuries and the Covid-19 which has hit him quite hard. He needs to find his rhythm.

"With me, there is no such concern. When a player is in discomfort in his club, obviously, he is happy to play for the France team.

"He will tell me about his feelings and, as I know him very well, it will go in a positive direction."

Pogba, 27, re-joined United when he signed for £89m from Juventus in 2016.

The last time he was on international duty in October he said it was "a dream" for him to play for Real Madrid one day.

Later that month, United triggered the one-year option on Pogba's contract as they extended his deal with them until 2022.

It will never work out for him at United. He should return to Juventus - Pirlo played with him in the past and Pogba had his best years alongside him and Vidal.

Pirlo as manager could get the best out of him.

The much touted Madrid move appears to be difficult now. Zidane wants him but the board doesn’t, and Zidane himself is walking a tight rope right now.

If Zidane and Real Madrid are still interested in him then Pogba should join them and Manchester United should let him go.

It’s going to be five years and despite spells where he has been great, it has largely not worked out and I don’t see anything changing now when it couldnt in 4 years.

He is still a great player and he shows flashes of it and time is running out for him.

Paul Pogba is "unhappy" at Manchester United and "has to change teams" in January, says his agent Mino Raiola.

The France midfielder's contract runs until June 2022 but he would be available to leave on a free transfer from next summer.

Pogba, 27, has made only eight Premier League appearances this season, starting five games.

"Paul is unhappy. He is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as expected of him," Raiola said.

He told Tuttosport: "He has to change teams; he has to change the air.

"He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, but I think the best solution for the parties is to sell him in the next market."

Raiola said it was not Pogba's "intention" to extend his contract.

Pogba, who rejoined United from Juventus for £89m in 2016, has made no secret of his desire to play for Real Madrid.

In November, France manager Didier Deschamps said Pogba "cannot be happy" with his situation at United.

Pogba made only 22 appearances in all competitions last season because of an ankle injury, but in August Raiola said new contract discussions would take place.

But Raiola said on Monday that Pogba's time at United is now "over".

"It is useless to go around it," he said. "Better to speak clearly, look ahead and not waste time."

Paul Pogba: 'Inevitable is going to happen' after agent says Man Utd player is unhappy

Paul Pogba needs to leave Manchester United and a transfer away from the club would suit everyone involved, says their former defender Phil Neville.

The Frenchman's agent Mino Raiola said on Monday the midfielder is "unhappy" and "needs to change teams".

Pogba, 27, returned to Old Trafford for £89m in 2016 but has endured a turbulent second spell at the club.

"Ultimately, the inevitable is going to happen that Pogba has to leave United," Neville told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Pogba came off the United bench and scored as they were eliminated from the Champions League with a 3-2 defeat by RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

He has made only eight Premier League appearances this season, starting five, and scored his first league goal of the campaign on Saturday.

"The agent's comments, to me, were pre-planned, pre-rehearsed - knowing when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was doing his press conference, knowing exactly the right words to use," added Neville, referring to the fact Raiola's emerged after Solskjaer had spoken to the media on Monday.

"When I read those comments I wasn't surprised; it wasn't a bombshell. Paul is not happy - he doesn't look happy, he's not playing to his full potential and hasn't been for a long time.

"Ultimately, the inevitable is going to happen that Pogba has to leave United. The sooner you get rid of players like Pogba, players who don't want to be there - in a dressing room that's thinking about the long term with energy and that vision of maybe going to win something - you have to sieve out the weeds.

"At the moment Pogba needs to get out of that dressing room and that would suit everyone at United and Pogba as well."

Paul Pogba is focused on doing well for Manchester United despite his agent's comments about wanting to leave, says manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Mino Raiola said this week Pogba had no interest in signing an extension to his contract, which ends in June 2022.

He added it would be better for all parties if Pogba left in January.

"Paul's got the hunger and appetite to play. He wants to train and he's focused on performing when he gets a chance," said Solskjaer.

It is not entirely clear who has the money to pay the kind of fee United would want, although Pogba's former club Juventus have repeatedly been mentioned as being interested in the 27-year-old France World Cup winner.

Solskjaer had offered curt answers when questioned about Pogba since Tuesday's Champions League elimination by RB Leipzig, when the midfielder was introduced as a second-half substitute.

But when questioned about the matter on Friday, Solskjaer said Pogba's attitude contrasted with that of other former United players when they were looking for the exit door.

"There's been other players refusing to train and refusing to play - they're not here any more, of course - but Paul's not once done that," said Solskjaer.

"He's got the quality and the desire to do well when he comes on, like he did against Leipzig, when he had a positive impact."

Although United have won four league games in a row, the Norwegian is again under pressure because of his side's inconsistencies and defensive frailties, which were laid bare in Germany.

At times, Solskjaer almost seems too nice to deal with the scrutiny but he says it was something he thought about before he accepted the job - and he can handle it.

"There's always pressure on you when you manage Manchester United," he said.

"That's something I had to think about when I accepted the role. Do I have what it takes to be in such a situation? Can you handle setbacks? Can you handle success? I think I can."

Paul Pogba says "all is clear" between himself and Manchester United and insists he is "1,000% involved".

The 27-year-old France midfielder's agent, Mino Raiola, said the player was "unhappy" at the club and "has to change teams" last week.

Pogba played all 90 minutes of Saturday's draw with Manchester City - his sixth league start of the season.
"I've always fought and will always fight for United, my team-mates and the fans," wrote Pogba on Instagram.
"Bla bla is not important. The future is far, today is what matters and I am 1,000% involved! Always strong together.. all has been clear between the club and myself and that will never change.

What a goal tonight versus Fulham.

Paul Pogba signs documentary deal with Amazon Prime Video

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has signed a deal with Amazon Prime to produce a documentary on his life.

'The Pogmentary' will give a unique insight into the 28-year-old France international's life on and off the football pitch.

The series will air in 2022.

Amazon Studios' head of European originals, Georgia Brown, said the company were "thrilled to be collaborating" with Pogba - "one of the most prominent talents of his time".

"We all know Paul for what he can do on a football pitch, but his influence reaches much further, and he is without doubt an icon for an entire generation," she added.

"Through the unprecedented access afforded to us, Prime Video will show the man behind the fame, delving into his life off the pitch and letting him tell his story in his own words."

Amazon Prime has already produced documentaries on Manchester City and Tottenham, as well as in other sports.

Italy's Locatelli Latest Football Star To Snub Coca-Cola

Italy player Manuel Locatelli has become the latest star to snub Coca-Cola at a Euro 2020 press conference.

The midfielder made a point of placing a bottle of water directly in front of his microphone before moving the Coca-Cola out of shot as he took his seat to discuss his Man of the Match win following Italy's display against Switzerland.

Coca-Cola's market shares value fell by in the region of $4 billion, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s removal of two Coca-Cola bottles during a press conference in Budapest on Monday, ahead of his country’s Group F game against Hungary.

The 36-year old, Portugal captain snubbed two bottles of the carbonated soft drink before declaring in Portuguese "Agua!" ("Water!") into the microphone.

Pogba Snubs Heineken
France midfielder Paul Pogba removed a Heineken bottle in front of him at a Euro 2020 news conference, a day after Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo removed two Coca-Cola bottles, sparking a furore among football fans.

Pogba, a practising Muslim, moved away the beer bottle when he sat down to speak to the media on Tuesday after he was named man of the match in France's 1-0 Group F win over Germany.

In a response, Europe's soccer governing body UEFA said, "Coca-Cola offers a range of drinks to suit different tastes and needs, which are available to players throughout the tournament."

"This includes waters, isotonic sports drinks and juices, coffee and tea, as well as Coca-Cola."

Paul Pogba has been impressed by Manchester United's recruitment over the summer and is now more open to signing a contract extension.

Talks will continue between Pogba's representatives and United over his future, with the France international inside the final year of his contract at Old Trafford.

Sky Sports News reported last month that Pogba was unlikely to sign a new contract during the summer transfer window - but that fact did not rule out an extension at some point.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could miss the remainder of 2021 after injuring his thigh on duty with France.

Initial estimates from the France camp suggest the 28-year-old will be out for between six and eight weeks.

That will take Pogba to the end of the year, at which point he can sign pre-contract terms with overseas clubs given his United deal runs out in June.

If he is out for eight weeks, he would miss two Champions League group games and up to 10 Premier League matches.

Uncertainty over Pogba's Old Trafford future has been overshadowed in recent weeks by the home defeats by Liverpool and Manchester City that have sparked further debate around the future of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Juventus midfielder was already going to miss United's next match, away to Watford in the Premier League on 20 November, as he completes a three-match domestic ban following his red card as a substitute against Liverpool.

United boss Solskjaer is already without a number of players because of injury.

Pogba's international team-mate Raphael Varane is out with a hamstring problem, Uruguay forward Edinson Cavani missed last Saturday's defeat by Manchester City while England left-back Luke Shaw was substituted in the same match after a blow to the head.

Shaw is following concussion protocol and did not link up with the England squad on Monday.

Manchester City could make a move for Paul Pogba when his contract runs out at Manchester United this summer.

City boss Pep Guardiola is looking for central midfield reinforcements given veteran Fernandinho plans to leave the club at the end of the season.

City have already ruled themselves out of making an offer for West Ham's Declan Rice given the likely transfer fee in excess of £100m.

But the lack of a transfer fee makes Pogba a more attractive proposition.

Pogba's situation is slightly more complicated following the death of his long-time agent Mino Raiola last weekend.

But he is bound to be of interest to many of Europe's top clubs despite form and injury issues that have blighted his time at United.

If the France star was to make the move across Manchester, it would be similar to Carlos Tevez rejecting United's offer of turning his loan spell with them into a permanent switch in 2009 and then joining City.

This is a semi realistic prospect. Never mind crossing the picket line in Manchester, that will not bother a guy like Pogba. He is not a loyalty type, he is a merc.

Paul Pogba to Man City: 'No brainer' deal, says Jamie Redknapp but Jamie Carragher 'wouldn't go near him'

Would Man City be wise to sign Paul Pogba on a free? Jamie Redknapp called the deal a "no-brainer" but Jamie Carragher said he "wouldn't go anywhere near him".

The World Cup winner is out of contract at Manchester United this summer and is set to leave the club, marking the end of a turbulent six years back at Old Trafford since they made him the world's most expensive player.

Pogba has received criticism for his performances for United in recent years but he has also been courted by some of Europe's biggest clubs in that time - and City are now understood to be interested in making him the latest player to cross the Manchester divide.

The 29-year-old has divided opinion throughout his club career and continued to do so in the Super Sunday studio as the Sky Sports pundits debated whether he would be a good signing for the Premier League leaders.

Pogba turns down Manchester City move

When reports emerged on Friday that Manchester City were considering signing Paul Pogba as a free agent after he leaves Manchester United next month, it raised the idea of a remarkable switch between local rivals.

It was an opportunity in an area of the pitch that Pep Guardiola is looking to strengthen amid 37-year-old Fernandinho’s expected departure once the season ends, with Pogba a genuine candidate.

But The Athletic can reveal that this potential switch is not going to happen after the 29-year-old midfielder opted against joining City, instead favouring the whole package offered by another club.

Despite Pogba’s affiliation with United — his six-year second spell there, making eight altogether, will finish when his contract expires in the coming weeks — the 2018 World Cup winner is understood to have received a flattering proposal from City and gave serious contemplation to the five-time Premier League champions.

However, Pogba’s representatives are believed to have informed City that the France international is to continue his career at a different team. Former club Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are thought to be the most likely destinations at present, although a final decision is yet to be made.

Pogba started out at Le Havre in his homeland, then spent two years with United before heading to Italian side Juventus as a free agent in 2012 at age 19. He returned to Old Trafford four years later for a then-world record £89 million, but the subsequent period has not proved as successful as hoped and he is set to exit for nothing at the conclusion of the campaign.

Paul Pogba likely to move abroad at end of Manchester United contract

Paul Pogba is likely to move abroad when his Manchester United contract runs out this summer amid reported interest from Manchester City.

The France midfielder joined United in 2016 for a then-world record figure, but would now welcome a fresh challenge.

One source claimed he has grown frustrated at his treatment by the British media and feels he has become a scapegoat for United's problems. They have dropped out of the race for the top four after being beaten 4-0 by Brighton on Saturday.

Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain remain interested in signing him.

Pogba is still fighting to be fit for United's one remaining game this season away Crystal Palace May 22.

Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of June, while the club has held initial talks with Barcelona over the signing of Frenkie de Jong.

United academy graduate Pogba left Old Trafford to join Juventus as a free agent in 2012, only to return four years later for a then world-record fee of £89m.

But he has had a topsy-turvy second spell with United, who confirmed he will leave for nothing for the second time when his deal expires this month.

"The club can announce that Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of June, upon the expiry of his contract," United said at the start of a lengthy send-off statement on the club website.

"Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

"We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey."

Pogba scored 39 goals in 233 first-team appearances for United, who he first joined from French club Le Havre in 2009.

A key part of the triumphant FA Youth Cup side of 2011, the midfielder joined Juventus the following year and enjoyed a medal-laden time in Turin.

Pogba returned to Old Trafford in 2016 but struggled to live up to the billing, with EFL Cup and Europa League triumphs in his first campaign back at United proving to be his only silverware.

The 29-year-old - a World Cup winner with France in 2018 - is now leaving United on a free transfer for the second occasion, with a return to Juventus potentially on the cards.

Dharmesh Sheth explains why Pogba did not sign a new contract with Manchester United and discusses his next potential destinations
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth:

Pogba's representatives held positive talks with Juventus last month but remain in dialogue with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Sky Sports News has been told there are offers on the table from Juventus and PSG.

It is understood a decision on Pogba's next club is expected "soon", with his final choice expected to be a "football decision".

If Pogba goes to a European club, it is unlikely he will be offered more money than United were willing to pay when they offered him a new deal last summer.

At 29 years of age, this is likely to be the last remaining peak years of Pogba's career and his last big contract, so he will want to get it right.

Sky Sports News has been told Pogba, currently on holiday in Miami, is a doubt for France's Nations League games in June as he continues to recover from a calf injury.

With Pogba's departure confirmed, Manchester United have held initial talks with Barcelona over the signing of midfielder Frenkie de Jong. He is a number of midfielders United are looking at.

Sky Sports News has been told a deal is not close as there would be "significant obstacles" to overcome - notably a fee and the will of the player.

De Jong is a player United manager Erik ten Hag rates highly. The Netherlands international played under him at Ajax and was part of the side that won the 2018/19 Eredivisie title and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

However, the 25-year-old, who has made 139 appearances for Barcelona, is reportedly reluctant to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

It was a deal that caused a social media frenzy. Emerging from the shadows with a red devil marked into his hair, Pogba's Manchester United announcement video in 2016 was followed by a sponsored music clip featuring Stormzy. The hype over #POGBACK had begun.

It was supposed to be the start of something special. A new era for a club still struggling to find its feet after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson three years earlier.

But Pogba has been unable to inspire United to former glories. The 2017 League Cup and Europa League are the only trophies of his six-season spell.

After being booed off the pitch against Norwich and suffering a calf injury at Liverpool in April, Pogba will now leave the club for a second time. He cannot solely be blamed for United's lack of success, but his departure signals an underwhelming end to a transfer that promised so much.

As Europe's biggest clubs prepare to pounce, Sky Sports looks at Pogba's second United career.

How did it go so wrong? Was he mismanaged? Or was it Pogba who made the mistake?

What a waste of money, should have let him go couple of years ago, at least then United could have recouped some of the fees.

United have gone from one of the best run clubs in world football (pre Glazer era) to one of the absolute worst. (lol)

Paul Pogba: Juventus confident of finalising three-year deal for return of former Manchester United midfielder

Juventus are increasingly confident they are in the final stages of completing a three-year deal for Paul Pogba, which will put him in their bracket of highest earners.

Sky Sports News has been told the Serie A side have been given verbal assurances that the midfielder will rejoin them following his exit from Manchester United as a free agent.

Negotiations have progressed smoothly with Rafaela Pimenta, who has been representing Pobga since Mino Raiola's passing.

She has served as a lawyer at the late agent's firm for close to two decades and is assessing requested tweaks to the contract on offer ahead of a closing meeting.

Beyond what Juve feel would be an inconceivable change of heart from Pogba, the club are optimistic all formalities will be completed soon despite Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid engaging in dialogue with his camp.

Suggestions are that an announcement could tie into the Amazon Prime film on the France international titled 'The Pogumentary', which is set to air on 17 June.

Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri is said to have been pivotal to the 29-year-old's decision, not only on account of unlocking Pogba's best football in the past, but providing a clear blueprint on how his abilities will be maximised again.

Bar the tactical and technical pitch, Juve played on the advantage of having an emotional pull with the man they banked a then world-record fee of £93m for, inclusive of add-ons, when he moved to United in 2016.

Pogba won four Scudetti in four years with the Bianconeri and has been sold a happy homecoming, plus status of a key part to the club rediscovering domestic and European glory.

Juve have also been the most solid in their approach with Real and PSG not "as active" in pursuing the player as both were distracted by the more pressing Kylian Mbappe situation. The latter are understood to have put in a formal proposal though.

It was Manchester City who rivalled Juve in terms of seriousness of their push, with Pep Guardiola meeting Pogba and the club drafting a lucrative contract to demonstrate their will in landing him.

The World Cup winner, currently on holiday in Miami, did mull over making the switch to United's rivals on footballing merit, but felt the accompanying noise and hate would not be worth it.

A fresh start, albeit on old ground, has seemingly been viewed as a better all-round choice.
