Pakistan men’s central contracts announced

• 25 cricketers have been awarded contracts for the 2024-25 international cricket season

• Five emerging cricketers offered PCB central contracts for the first time

Lahore, 27 October 2024:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has awarded 12-month central contracts to 25 men’s cricketers for the 2024-25 international season, effective from 1 July 2024. The contracts have been offered under the structure that was agreed last year between the players and the PCB for a three-year period.

As part of the PCB’s strategy to incentivise, encourage and reward talented and emerging cricketers, five players have been offered central contracts for the first time. They are Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Irfan Khan, and Usman Khan.

Just seen a list of odi/T20 squads for Aus and Zim series ... no Fakhar Zaman there either

Averaging 19 in the Test series against England at home

Striking at 100 during the T20 World Cup (Pakistan first round knockout)

This is category A deserving performances??????

Babar, Shaheen, Rauf, parchi Shafiq, Dhani. 6-0 for Australia. Something never change.

If Naqvi has truly stepped up and adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards the issues in our cricket setup, then I'm all for his approach. However, it might be wishful thinking, as history suggests the PCB often reverts to its usual ways. Fakhar’s exclusion from the central contract was justified; he overstepped by publicly questioning the selection committee on social media. Moreover, no player should undermine their coach, captain and management, especially during team meetings intended to bridge divides within the squad. The players demoted to lower category contracts had it coming. We haven’t achieved anything significant in recent years, yet somehow, players seemed to gain star status despite the losses.

No player should ever consider themselves bigger than the team. Right now, we’re at our lowest point: our pacers are unfit and frequently injured, and our batters struggle with situational awareness and constructing solid innings. It seems that the only thing some players have mastered is their PR game. Given the current state of Pakistan cricket, I’d fully support a strict, no-nonsense policy to prioritize discipline, accountability, and team cohesion above all else.

Anyone who in their XI puts Rizwan at 4, with Kamran Ghulam at 5 and Agha at 6 can’t be taken seriously.

Pakistan cricket fans are as mediocre as their team
1) Abdullah Shafiq
2) Hasebullah
3) Babar Azam
4) Rizwan (C)(wk)
5) Kamran Ghulam
6) Agha
7) Aamir Jamal

PCB is run by some of the most petty and small-minded people imaginable.

Not granting a central contract to Fakhar Zaman because he wrote a tweet you didn't like is absolutely nuts. These people are like tyrants. I'm sure this has something to do with Fakhar being outspoken against their treatment of player NOCs during the connection camp aswell. Fakhar is one of the greatest limited-overs batters that Pakistan has ever produced. He has done more for Pakistan than this idiot Naqvi ever will in his entire misreable life.

How is this mickey mouse organization run by incompetent, nepotistic fools allowed to treat our players like this?

And demoting Shaheen? Why? Did they magically find another all-format front-line fast-bowler that I didn't hear about?

Fakhar shouldn't have sent that tweet publicly criticising selection policy. Whether it was him or his agent who typed it up and he approved it, no board in the world would stand for that.

However I fear he hurt some egos when he (rightly) asked for major surgery in PCB at the connection camp.

Since start of 2022 his ODI and T20 record reads 44/91 and 22/135 so it cannot be on performance that his contract was removed.

He's played far more games than Mohammad Ali, Irfan Khan, Abbas Afridi and Wasim jr yet they've been contracted and he hasn't.

Admonishing someone is one thing. Taking away their central contract is vindictive and spiteful. They want to sent a message. They are willing to destroy Pakistan's cricket simply because their egos are bruised.

This kind of behavior does not happen in any normal cricket board. But then again, this is a board run by the mentally deranged.

PCB’s amazing deflection tactics

*Do not give FZ a central contract to remove any focus on Babar and Rizwan being given Cat A contracts.

This is the surgery?

Yeah it was a massive typing error, I mean they were meant to type Fakhar Zaman but typed Haseebullah instead.
Idk why they removed Fakhar from central contract. I can understand him not being in for the Australia tour because of few reports that Fakhar has asked for 2 months rest to fix his knee injury.

But dropping him from central contract means saying you are not part of our plans anymore. Which is ridiculous. Because you have no modern standard batter in ODIs except for Fakhar. Fakhar is the one that won you the last CT.

Hearing FZ is not part of central contract? If yes, the entire team should reject their contracts.
After publicly criticizing their national cricket board for resting Babar Azam halfway through the England Test series, Fakhar Zaman was taken off their Pakistan central contracts list, Zaman has now lost his central contract for the first time in eight years as a result of the incident.

As for Fakhar Zaman, you’ve given him the green light to just be a franchise player. It’s the franchises gain and pak’s loss.

Unlike the 1970s players babar and rizwan, Fakhar will be snapped up very easily.
Everyone saw in 2023 WC. There was clear difference between Fakhar and the rest of your batters.

Fakhar is a beast in this format. He's basically the reigning CT King

Disgusting stuff from PCB as usual. He is a proper match winner and him tweeting in support of Babar shouldn't axe him from squads and central contracts.

Fakhar should use it to full advantage. Play in leagues, earn tons of $$$ and reject PCB when they inevitably come back begging for him to play.

Nauman Ali played a vital role in Pakistan's 2-1 win over England and this is how the PCB treats him by not giving him a central contract.

Rumours indicate Fakhar himself requested PCB not to give him a central contract, he wants to become a T-20 freelancer and move to the US

Sorry correction Nauman has been offered a C contract but subject to fitness.

The dude has bowled 90 plus overs for his country in 10 days and has also played a few vital knocks for his team. His cricketing fitness is perfect.

what the hell is shadab khan doing in the central contract? wasnt it better to add Amir who can give support to ur useless pace bowling attack.
