QUETTA: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shahryar Khan on Thursday announced to appoint former Pakistan cricketer Mudassar Nazar as president of regional cricket academies, ARY News reported.

“I am thankful to Mudassar Nazar for his alacrity to make national cricket alive by abandoning lucrative job of International Cricket Council (ICC),” he said while addressing media at Nawab Bugti Cricket Stadium during his Quetta tour.

Mudassar Nazar has been head of cricket development of ICC Academy.

The chairman PCB also announced to hold inter-schools cricket tournament in each district of Balochistan and said Balochistan, FATA and Azad Kashmir were being brought into mainstream national cricket.

“New talent will be dug out from cadet colleges, private educational institutes and universities across the country,” he said.

He also expressed fear that as a result of Zarb-e-Azb Operation terrorists were finding soft targets and cricket grounds could be soft target for them.

While acknowledging practice of nepotism by PCB selection committees in the past, Shahryar Khan said violation of merit would be restrained.

To a query, he said the practice of putting every responsibility on chairman PCB was not right. The board has formed working bodies at every city and district level who were autonomous and independent to work.

The chairman PCB said the provincial governments should provide cricket grounds and PCB would itself carry out renovation work on them.

PCB advertise the post with requirement "graduation" but for Mudassar Nazar PCB waive it and took approval in recent board of governors meeting.

This is an eye opener for those who weight education a lot for cricketers, many PPers and PCB Chairman too.

Cricketing knowledge and sense is more important

Fantastic news, hope he can work with full jurisdiction.

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to appoint former Test player Mudassar Nazar as the head of its new cricket committee, which has been constituted to look after all international and domestic affairs related to the game.
A well placed source in the PCB told PTI that the Board will make an official announcement about Mudassar's appointment next week although it had already taken a decision and had asked the former Test all-rounder to start work on his assignment.
PCB chairman Shahryar Khan two days back also confirmed the appointment of Mudassar as the Director of regional cricket academies giving him an important role in the National Cricket Academy as well in the Pakistan cricket hierarchy.
Mudassar, 60, has resigned from his coaching position in the ICC's global cricket academy in Dubai to take up the PCB assignment which apparently will fetch him a monthly salary of around one million rupees and other perks and benefits.
Mudassar, who played 76 Tests and 122 ODIs, was also in the running for the Pakistan team's head coach's position recently.
The source said that former Test spinner Iqbal Qasim and former national women's cricket captain Urooj Mumtaz will be the other two members of the cricket committee with more members to be added soon.
"The PCB has appointed its head of international cricket operations as the secretary of the cricket committee," the source said.
The cricket committee was previously headed by a non-cricketer Shakil Shaikh.
Shaikh, who heads the Islamabad Cricket Association, has now been adjusted as the chairman of a domestic cricket advisory committee which will assist the cricket committee in running the domestic structure smoothly.
Shaikh had also faced criticism from Pakistan's former captain and great Wasim Akram who had questioned his cricketing credentials to be heading the powerful cricket committee.

What has he been upto this season then? Any updates? Wasn't he supposed to look at the state of domestic wickets and make a change there? We've seen the same old rubbish this year again. Have they even started using Kookabura balls yet?

The best man in Pakistan cricket. Only ex-cricketer who I truly admire apart from Imran but Imran isnt interested in cricket anymore.
You will see the fruits soon.
