PCB BoG members reject appointment of MD Wasim Khan, new domestic cricket structure

Lol, PCB should appoint Wasim Khan as COO but give him CEO powers. That way they can bypass all these legal loopholes

There are people involved in Pakstan cricket who are doing nothing, getting big fat paycheques who don't want anyone to come into the PCB and sort out the mess.

There is a fear that Wasim Khan will come into the PCB and make it a professional set-up and get rid of the dead wood.

Some folk don't want Wasim Khan analysing what they are doing and what they are getting paid for and that is driving all this anti-Wasim Khan feeling in the media and within PCB.

Your comment about the big fat paycheques makes total sense. seems like the most accurate evaluation in this thread.

It's like 50 people waiting in line to take a 10% commission right off the top. Obviously there won't be much funds left to invest in the domestic cricketers and facilities. Mr. Nauman Butt has the audacity to complain in his interview that they rejected the abolishing of departments and regions because it affects the domestic cricketers. What a farce.

Follow the money trail.....

He was in line to be the next ECB chief and he chose this low paying job in a pretty bad working environment, and yet ppl have the audacity to question his LOYALTY?? disgusting

LAHORE: No discussion could be held on the reference sent by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to its independent adjudicator retired Justice Fazal-e-Miran Chohan, against Nouman Butt, one of the members of the Board of Governors, on a complaint filed by another BoG member Asad Ali Khan, levelling allegation that the former had used objectionable language against PCB chairman Ehsan Mani, besides making public official document before the media, after the last BoG meeting held in Quetta on April 17.

Nouman through his lawyer Shaigzan Ijaz has submitted his reply against the reference sent on the complaint of Asad and the adjudicator has ordered the PCB to submit its reply against Nouman’s stand by May 2. However on the day of hearing, Nouman’s lawyer expressed his inability to be part of the discussion, because the lawyer of Asad, the original complainant, was not present.

Though PCB’s lawyer Tafazzul Rizvi was present for the discussion, on the request of Nouman’s lawyer, it was deferred till May 10.

Meanwhile, Nouman lawyer’s application requesting the adjudicator to stop the hearing as the standing committee of National Assembly on Sports will also be discussing the matter on May 6, was rejected as Tafazzul successfully pleaded against it.

“We want to start the discussion in the presence of all parties’ lawyers but Asad Ali Khan’s lawyer was not present, so our request is accepted and the justice has deferred the hearing till May 10,” Shaigan said.

“We also filed [a] second application requesting to stop the hearing as the National Standing Committee on Sports is also holding a discussion on this matter in Islamabad on May 6, which was not accepted,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tafazzul said: “Nouman’s second application requesting to stop the hearing of adjudicator till the standing committee’s findings has been rejected as I argued that PCB’s constitution does not allow it.”

Tafazzul alleged that Nouman’s lawyer had been using delaying tactics, adding it seemed they were not taking the case seriously and that was why they were submitting such applications.

On April 17, the BoG meeting could last just 10 minutes because the PCB chairman wanted to get the nod of the BoG to abolish the present domestic cricket set-up featuring departments and regions to switch to a pattern based on provincial teams.

However Nouman, who had the support of five BoG members out of a total seven attending that meeting, submitted a joint resolution, asked to defer the discussion as it was a crucial point of the agenda and needed thorough discussion. The revolting members also suggested the PCB to call a special BoG meeting on April 30 so that all the members could get sufficient time to prepare for the said meeting.

After a brief spat between the revolting members and the PCB chairman, the meeting was called off. Later, first PCB chairman spoke to the media to give his stand and later Nouman also appeared before the media to clear his version.

At present, Nouman is not allowed to attend any BoG meeting till the announcement of adjudicator’s verdict. Two of the revolting BoG members, Shahrez Khan (Lahore Region) and Ayaz Butt (KRL), have reconciled with the PCB. However, Kabir Khan (Fata) and Shah Dost (Quetta region) are still with Nouman.

Shah Dost de-notified as BoG Member after independent adjudicator orders re-elections

Lahore, 7 May 2019:

Mr Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan, a member of the independent Panel of Adjudicators, has set aside elections of President, District Cricket Association, Turbat, and President, Regional Cricket Association, Quetta, while ordering fresh elections.

The independent adjudicator’s decision came following the conclusion of multiple hearings of an appeal filed 0n 13 February 2019 under Article 37 of the PCB Constitution and means the election of Mr Shah Dost, first as President of the District Cricket Association, Turbat, and then his subsequent election as Regional Cricket Association, Quetta, President, has been declared null and void.

Resultantly, and as per Article 10(2) of the PCB Constitution, Mr Shah Dost has now been de-notified as a member of the PCB Board of Governors.

Mr Justice (retired) Fazal-e-Miran Chauhan announced the decision after it was established that Mr Shah Dost was not eligible to contest elections of President of District Cricket Association, Turbat, held in August 2017, as he was then a government employee with Fisheries Department, Quetta.

Mr Shah Dost’s employment with the Fisheries Department, Quetta, at the material times, was established by the evidence presented by the appellant.

In his decision, which is available here, the independent adjudicator said: “Mr Shah Dost suffered from disqualification (a Government Servant) on the date 08-08-2017, when Election Schedule was announced by the Deputy Election Commission and on all subsequent dates.”

PCB Media.

Given the wave of sacking and firings, i wonder if Imran Khan will consider the same for the PCB. I think Ehsan Mani is far too lethargic, old and soft for the position now. How about appointing Asad Umar as PCB chairman?
