PCB chairman removes all advisors, disbands working committees

LAHORE: The newly-elected PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has removed all the four advisors appointed by his predecessor Najam Sethi, and has disbanded the many working committees, Dawn learned on Thursday.

Sethi had appointed four advisors namely Shakil Sheikh, Aizad Saiyed and Salahuddin Sallu besides fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar but all of them have been relieved from their duties by Mani. Though Shoaib tweeted on Thursday he has resigned as advisor to PCB chairman, he has in fact been relieved from the post.

It may be mentioned here that while Shoaib and Salahuddin were paid advisors, Shakil and Aizad were working on honorary basis.

Moreover, Mani has also abolished the non-paid committees including audit, human resources, domestic committees besides the Governor Council of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The audit committee comprised Mansoor Masood Khan, Arif Ijaz, Badar Khan and M Rauf Bhatti. The human resource committee comprised Arif Ijaz, Mansoor Masood Khan, Subhan Ahmed and Khayyam Qaiser.

The Domestic Committee consisted of Shakil Sheikh, Mudassar Nazar, Haroon Rasheed, Shoaib Akhter, Aizad Saiyed, Samavia Iqbal and Saqib Irfan.

However, Mani has kept paid committees in tact including the three selection committees — senior (headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq), junior (headed by Basit Ali) and women’s (headed by Jalaluddin) and scrutiny committee (headed by Wasal Durrani).

The Governor Council of the PSL has also been dissolved.

He was on the Board of Governors as a UBL representative previously, but is no longer there because UBL's team has been disbanded.

Iirc a KRL rep. has replaced him.

Shakeel isn't going anywhere, and is not removed from the main position.

This "advisor" was just a nonpaid new role created by Sethi, just cosmetic.

Sheikh still enjoys full control of the ISB/RWP domestic cricket circuit. Likely still has the same influence in rest of the board.
