LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a three-member committee to investigate alleged corrupt practices, which have been rendered during the last 15 years at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The committee includes retired Col Khalid, retired Col Ashfaq Ahmad and Daniyal, a person from the PCB legal department.

It seems the incumbent PCB management is not satisfied with the working of the NCA and there are doubts that corrupt practices were rendered in various functions of the NCA in which its key officials were involved.

The NCA, which since its inauguration in 2004 has enjoyed a high-level status, has been working independently. While keeping in mind that several coaches, doctors and trainers joined and left the NCA during the past 15 years, the probe committee in all probability faces an uphill task.

Two changes in the recent past were noticed at the NCA; first its senior general manager academies Ali Zia stepped down on Dec 6 after remaining at this position for 12 years. Just a few days later, former Test cricketer Mudassar Nazar decided not to seek extension as NCA director after completing his ongoing contract which expires at the end of May 2020.

According to some reports, the PCB may hire an Englishman to run the NCA as director.

Hopefully they start by getting medical professionals that actually know what they're doing

Some very serious allegations and proofs of corruption against Ali Zia, apparently he was pocketing money on the side. This whole thing came to light when Multan Sultans management contacted the NCA for coaching courses for its coaches, the PCB was not offering the coaching courses but apparently Ali Zia took the money for the courses from the Multan Sultan team and had deposited the funds in his personal account.

Apparently this is just one example and the moment PCB found out they took swift action. What exactly has the NCA done or achieved since its inception since 2004? Pakistan has had so many batsmen from 2004 to now, which batsmen have they improved dramatically? Why is Pakistan unable to produce spinners? Why do pacers who start out rapid slow down to slow medium pacers in the end?

The NCA and its personnel from 2004 to now need to be seriously examined. The mafia needs to be secretly scared, Wasim Khan is taking charge now.

Need to hold Sethi accountable.

We lost millions of dollars because of him and his ego.

Did ZERO development on cricket stadiums.

More to the point, how did the PCB come to appoint an unqualified Head Coach and an unqualified Chief Selector?

And how did a person on the panel which sacked the last coach get the job?

And, even more suspiciously, they are the same person.

Misbah would not have even got an interview for either job with a provincial club overseas. Or with Zimbabwe. Or Bangladesh. Or Afghanistan. Or Ireland.

The eligibility criteria were clearly tampered with to ensure that this unqualified candidate got the job. And that shouldn’t be allowed to happen without consequences for whoever allowed this to happen.

Corruption. Conflict of interest. This case has it all.

What corruption can one have in an academy? Is anything immune from corruption in Pakistan?

Well done for Wasim Khan and PCB taking steps. It must be questioned how something like this has been going on for the past 15 years without any action any? What other incidents have taken place that the media, PCB investigation team have never known about? Sad but promising that action is being taken now.

Backhand payments.
Fitness test results being manipulated.
Pocketing money not due.

Plenty more I guess.

Allegations against medical staff, coaching staff and as a result of this one employee recently booted out.

He’s an interim coach. Will be gone as soon as pcb is transparent and efficient as an organisation to absorb an elite coach. Maybe this will take a couple of years. A coach is nowhere near as important as the structures within which he operates.
