PCB keen on landing lucrative PSL sponsorship deals

KARACHI : Pakistan Cricket Board is believed to be working towards luring sponsors for the next edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), in a bid to ensure that they cash in even more from lucrative deals for the upcoming season.

According to sources, the board might invite Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of various top firms next month — both in Karachi and Islamabad — in order to discuss the future plans about the league, through a detailed presentation. The meeting will used as a tool to showcase the increase in brand value of PSL and to subsequently tempt potential sponsors into making worthwhile deals.

Previously the board used to sell all its ground branding and other rights to a single firm rather than approaching companies individually, but now it is keen on doing it entirely on its own.

Also PCB will issue call for tenders for the next season’s broadcasting rights in September, after which the title sponsor will be decided. The PCB is hopeful that the rights will earn up to three times more than what was netted previously.

It is also worth mentioning that franchises are concerned about the possibility of changes in the upper hierarchy of PCB due to the changing political scenario and General Elections.

The franchises are keen on seeing Najam Sethi as the Chairman PCB and will request the government to let him continue in this role, in case they are pondering over his removal. Although the sources have stated that if there is any change within the board, it will be complete.

The increased number of matches in Pakistan should definitely result in more lucrative deals. Sooner the whole league is held in Pakistan, the better.

I agree.More gate money as well obviously as well as more merchandising, branding etc.

Why is the PCB only looking for next edition's broadcasting deal? Why not a longer term of say 5 years?

Also, no mention about selling digital rights. That is another revenue source that cricket boards are and have to take advantage of. It has been done by BCCI, ECB and CA. PCB should follow this.

He’s already pulled off that drama. I think there are other sponsors on Multan shirt that he wants to milk for publicity
What's wrong with Rizwan and why is his team owner allowing such shenanigans. He is paid to advertise for his team in PSL and if he can't do that then why even play. What a draamey baaz.

There are rumours that Rizwan didn’t wear the team kit yesterday because he had an issue with sponsors

@Major let’s take this league to IPL levels with captains like this?

I think no alcohol or betting companies are there in Pakistan. If it’s not from a religious point of view then it’s very unprofessional behaviour from Rizwan. He really looked like a lachooo in that captains photo and I don’t know why was Hasan Ali looked lustfully at Big Bobby B

This guy is getting out of control. When he pulled off the Surrogate company thing, I remember Haider Azhar (MS manager) saying at the time “we love Rizwan and we want him to be happy” when questioned about it in the presser.

Pakistanis had no issues with him bringing in the religion card until 2023 with his tweets and Namaz during matches….now they have created a huge problem for themselves.

Oh well, I did my best to try and warn whoever I could in my little capacity.

So essentially the Pakistan super league should be the Peshawar local club league in the mind of this guy?
