The PCB recognizes that having a lot of teams in the city based 4 day, ODI and T-20 tournament and the department 4 day, ODI and T-20 tournament has resulted in a massive influx of average low quality players and hence the dilution of quality in domestic cricket. Therefore it is very difficult for the selectors to asses the quality and calibre of the top performers from these tournaments.

Therefore to eliminate this problem the PCB is considering pooling in the national team players, the top domestic performers from the regional tournaments, department tournaments, U19 and A teams and making them participate in a 5-6 team Pentangular 4 day, ODI, T-20 tournament to truly assess the quality, caliber of the players and these tournaments will also be held at a time when the national team will not have any international commitments therefore the national team centrally contracted players will have to participate in these tournaments and will not be granted NOC's for leagues abroad. This will also help the national team players get some necessary ragra, development time in domestic cricket.

The question is where can the PCB squeeze in these pentangular tournaments, it is very tough to play cricket in Pakistan from May to July and the time periods from August to March are already booked.

I think longer format tournaments should be arranged to get the maximum talent but unfortunately everyone is just preferring money over the betterment of this game.

so they got rid of the six team format because there wasn't enough teams, only to propose a 5 team format. pcb never change, lol
The PCB did that to show up IK but as always Kaptaan was right. Just needed a bit of tweaking and maybe add a couple of teams as the standard rises. The Standard last year was horrific and these clowns dont have a clue how to improve it

i know but surely someone must realise the comedy of it all.

The six team model works with a 2nd tier like it was recently.

Just need to make sure any underperforming players are relegated and performers are promoted.

None of this my friend, my relative, I like him etc nonsense. Just purely picking on merit and stats.

It’s a good initiative, the quaid trophy and patron trophy and department cricket will provide jobs to the cricketers as well as provide opportunities for younger players to play and perform and get selected in the pentagular tournaments and eventually in to the pak side , sounds good on paper if it actually materiałise and remain consistent

We already know the top 45 players in domestic cricket which are part of the two A teams and one national teams and they all are simply trash , this champions cup won't going to reveal much this season sadly.

Theirs to much competition for places for the respective squads hence why they left it to last minute -_-

That's why they need to look elsewhere.

They should organise these tournaments and invite u19s (genuine) to trials and a spot in the tournament to show what they can do.

The biggest win will be in the long term from private schools if they can get school cricket going again. Need to find talent from age 8. This can take 10-15 years to start producing results.

As you can see PCB has wasted the last 30 years, they did nothing to invest in grass roots, infrastructure, nothing. Total inaction and look at the damage it's caused.

Pakistan team chances will naturally improve the day PCB becomes dormant, and does not do anything.
