ISLAMABAD, Nov 23 (APP):The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested the government to introduce a law about corruption in sports in order to stop the players from doing any kind of fixing in the game.

Talking to APP, a PCB official said PCB lays emphasis on removing corruption from cricket. “In this regard PCB has already introduced a strict anti-corruption code and it has a permanent vigilance department in PCB to counter the menace of corruption,” he said.
He said the board believes that corruption in cricket and other sports can largely be prevented if a law is passed making corruption in sports a crime. “In this regard PCB has already requested the government to take action in this matter,” he said.

He said cricketers are banned for some time and then are allowed to play, but if such a law is introduced then they would be fearful about committing any kind of wrongdoings.

The official further said the PCB also suggested that instead of taxing PCB’s income, the government should ask PCB to spend the same amount on development and promotion of cricket in the country.

“This will ensure that various stadiums are maintained and brought to international standards on a regular basis,” he said.

He said government should also make cricket mandatory in educational boards to organize cricket events on nationwide basis. “The PCB will play its role in facilitating such events,” he said and added secure and secluded grounds must also be provided for women cricketers for the promotion of women cricket.

Rofl I know the vigilance department, its Col. Azam in totality.

The sentences are itself an indication to hedge up the punishments fearing a likely appeal.

Can someone ask did PCB take action against the person who approached Sarfraz Ahmed for fixing? Was it a sting operation by ICC or PCB itself like against Sharjeel Khan and Khaled Latif? Has Nasir Jamshed been brought back to Pakistan on which 5 careers were destroyed? Shahzaib Hassan is not even banned only provisionally suspended for many months now, no progress in his case why don't they start proceedings pushing him to come?

This is why people want to be PCB Chairman, the media attention or the media circus minus what4ever you do. Even if you don't do anything you would get publicity. Adhocism has taken Pakistan cricket administration into the dark ages after Tauqir Zia left.
If it was not for a miracle in form of Arthur or Sarfraz or Pakistani young talent from KPK and smaller regions like Sialkot, Hyderabad, etc.. cricket would've never survived and had been worse than hockey with these petty politics where PCB hogging most of the headlines for all the bad reasons, with rest of us mourning.

With friends like Shakeel Sheikh in the PCB and an unelected chairman with non-cricketing background, these statements would not affect the current credibility status of the public, it will remain low.

Selective punishments like not even considering action against NCA [Natl. Crime Agency,UK] reported players [Umar Akmal, Mohd. Sami] , nepotism practiced at the highest level cricketers related to PCB organization getting slots in Pakistan T20, ODI, Test XI and etc.. are an indication of PCB public image. Media statements are only going to evoke laughter not trust.
