The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested an explanation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the omission of Pakistan's name in the Champions Trophy branding during the live broadcast of India and Bangladesh's match in Dubai. The logo in the top left corner of the broadcast displayed the event name, but not the name of Pakistan, the hosts, for the entire match, which India won by six wickets. This was a departure from the broadcast graphics for other matches of the tournament, including the tournament opener between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi. The PCB is dissatisfied with the situation and has requested assurances it will not happen again.
The ICC maintains that the incident was due to a technical glitch and clarified that this will not affect future games, regardless of whether they are played in Pakistan or the UAE. The next game in the UAE will be the tournament's most followed, with India taking on Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. The issue over the tournament's location became contentious, with Pakistan demanding they host every game, as the ICC had awarded them rights to the whole tournament. A deal was struck that guarantees India will not need to play in Pakistan, including if they reach the final.
