Looks very cookie cutter, and a slight rip-off of Qatar's current scheme, but to each their own.

Markhor - mountain goat, is Pakistan's national animal and that is what is painted there. For the information of those saying this is a copy of someone else.

These are just cosmetic changes, need a real upgrade in the structure and procedures of the airline for it to be profitable again.

But thanks to our lovely neighbors for scouting the internet day and night for any shred of news on Pakistan and sharing them here for our benefit. They have more interest in our country than we ourselves have.

I work in the airline industry and it is my line of work.

Please shed the paranoia and take each post and thread as they come. Cheers.

Not bad, as far as liveries go. Better than many out there.

The one thing is the swirling Pakistan flag near the forward door. This part usually gets very dirty as it is where the jet bridges come into contact with the aircraft. I doubt Pakistanis will like their airplanes flying around with a brown patch emblazoned across their national flag..

Looks like an elephant and its tusk to me, that portion.

More than the fuselage getting grime on it, that flag is right at the position where a narrowbody would have its L1 door. So during boarding / deboarding, there would be a giant hole in the middle of the flag.

This is why I think branding agencies being paid millions for this sort of work is such a waste of time, money and energy.

I bet you he will claim he works in the industry or something along those lines.

A few weeks back he was claiming he was working for a social media company in some capacity.

Windup merchant isn't even the phrase!

Good video and i like the new branding. Good start, hopefully they can improve the quality and sustain it. They should have the name Pakistan on the plane.

the front looks too congested and rest of the plane too white. need some colors specially on the tail. a gradient green behind markhor would have looked nicer.

Good video

The branding is cool but the video shows the new livery on an Airbus A380, a type that PIA neither has in its current fleet nor is planning to acquire. I sincerely hope it is not an official video released by PIA. Would be a big blooper if it is.

Does this mean that the inflight entertainment systems fixed now?

SC temporarily bars PIA from placing image of Markhor on aircraft's tail

The Supreme Court on Sunday temporarily barred the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from replacing the Pakistan flag on the tails of its airplanes with an image of the Markhor — the country's national animal.

While hearing a suo motu case regarding the airline's performance, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar ordered PIA to halt the revamping of its aircraft until a report on the matter is submitted in the court.

"We have found out that you are planning to replace our national flag [on the tails of PIA aircraft] with the picture of an animal," the chief justice said to the managing director of PIA, who was present in the court.

"Which animal are you planning to place on the tails of the planes?" the CJP asked, and was told that a picture of a Markhor, PIA's new mascot and Pakistan's national animal, will be placed on the national flag-carrier's tail.

The PIA MD was ordered by the chief justice to present a report regarding the award of contract for pasting stickers of the Markhor on the planes.

"Do you know the cost required for [placing the new mascot on the tail of] each plane?" Justice Nisar asked the MD, questioning if the national flag-carrier is so profitable that it can splash out funds on the stickers.

"Rs2.7 million are required to place the sticker on the tail of each plane," the official replied.

Unconvinced, the CJP responded that the rebranding of each plane will actually cost Rs3.4m.

Jusitce Nisar also took the PIA MD to task about the delay in his flight from Karachi to Islamabad on Saturday.

"Do you know what time I reached Islamabad yesterday? Why was my flight two-and-a-half hours late?" the CJP asked. He was told that the flight was delayed due to a technical difficulty.

"I will also take a look at your performance," the CJP warned the PIA MD.

ISLAMABAD: The total liabilities of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has reached Rs406 billion against its assets only Rs111 billion.

The national carrier submitted a comprehensive report in a suo motu case regarding irregularities in the department, wherein it is stated that PIA has accumulated losses of Rs356 billion including the loss incurred in 2017.

“The balance sheet is now very weak with total liabilities amounting to Rs406 billion against assets of only Rs111 billion. Today, PIA is only able to continue operating due to the government’s financial support,” says the report.
It is also informed that the company has been operating most of its routes on losses, has far too many employees for the size of operations and has lagged in the current business environment while its business model and operations are not capable of making profits.

Last year PIA was incurring losses, a number of aircraft grounded, suffered from demotivated staff, political interference, revenue leakages, and little if any interdepartmental coordination, the report highlights.

The report submitted to the SC also read that the national airline lacks the capability to improve its performance given core competency gaps in the whole organisation including the senior executive leadership. Reasons identified include political appointments and extremely poor HR practices while PIA as an organisation operates like an outdated government department rather than a modern business.

“Unions and associations have perfected tools to obstruct management drives at revival with malice”, adds the report, stating that PIA is heavily burdened with unions and they should not be allowed to interfere in the management process.

The report further identifies that unions are also negatively impacting in daily operations by influencing employees to ‘go slow’ when they wish to apply pressure to the management. Recently, they have been carrying out a maligning campaign to thwart efforts to clean up HR practices.

The court was requested in the comprehensive report to allow the incumbent management to undertake and commence recruitment of relevant and appropriate officers and employees to ensure efficient working of the airline’s affairs. PIA also pleaded for staff unions to be restrained from acting against the interests of the company. Likewise, it was also requested to remove the name of the company’s CEO from the ECL.

The airline also requested the top court to permit it to adopt the markhor as a symbol of the airline’s revival.

RAWALPINDI: The Pak*is*tan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to restore its old slogan ‘Great People to Fly With’ and discontinue its new blue logo.

A directive issued by PIA Chief Executive Officer and chairman Air Marshal Arshad Malik informed all concerned that it has been approved that the airline’s new blue logo has been discontinued from stationery products, billboards, documents and all other places.

It said the new blue logo has been discontinued and the old logo (Pakistan prominent) and the slogan ‘Great People to Fly With’ have been adopted and it will be reproduced on all documents and platforms.

PIA spokesman Mashood Tajwar confirmed that the national flag carrier’s old logo has been restored as the public acceptance of Markhor — the country’s national animal — was not good as well as the Supreme Court had also barred the PIA from replacing the Pakistan flag on the tails of its aircraft. He said that the picture of Markhor had also been removed from one aircraft after the SC orders.

In May last year, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had ordered the PIA management to stop replacing the national flag on the tail of its aircraft with a picture of Markhor.
