It’s becoming increasingly obvious what is going on in Misbah’s head.
He’s clearly thinking of picking Iftikhar at 6 and Yasir Shah at 8.
Forget those two for a minute, and consider the effect on the three strike quicks.
Shaheen, Naseem and Abbas would lose the four minute respite between overs as Faheem bowls 20 overs per day. They will get 3 minutes between Yasir Shah overs and be slower and more susceptible to injury.
Yasir Shah can bowl 25 overs per day, but his lifetime SENA record shows that he would take 50-10-190-3 per innings. He always does.
But worse still, Iftikhar’s Test batting record is far worse than Shadab Khan’s. And he isn’t even a part-time bowler.
Shadab + Faheem will always outscore Yasir + Iftikhar.
But they also are more useful with the ball, because you want Shaheen bowling 18 overs in a day for 3-60 at 145K, not bowling 25 overs and taking 2-70 at 135K.
Same with Naseem.
Yasir Shah has played 13 Tests in SENA and has 32 wickets at 63.50 each. Picking him would be crazy.
