Was Bishoo incorrectly denied Moeen Ali's wicket due to this no-ball call?

Cant make a call from these pics, you need to see his foot when he releases the ball.

More importantly - did the umpire stick his hand out, or did he wait until the wicket happened and then went upstairs?

I'm getting tired of umpires doing the latter. How many no-balls are they missing if they need to be spoonfed by technology?

Ironically there's been an issue the entire test with umpires not calling no balls then this one was called on the field.

It was really really tight but I think it was the right call

If the umpire went upstairs after the delivery then it's shouldn't be a no ball. It's too close to call. If it was called during the delivery then a case can be made for a no ball.

Its fairly obvious that the umpires don't even bother checking for no-balls anymore.

Umpires have to process a lot of information in a small amount of time. If they are going to get the no balls right, they are likely to screw up in their LBW decisions.

That's what the DRS is for. Those LBW decisions can be reviewed. The no-balls cannot, so the umpire better get them right.

10 years ago, nobody had a problem with this anyway.

I wonder if that's because no one was really looking though? Yesterday sky were replaying the side on camera after every ball at times and later playing a montage of the side on camera. Would there have been a focus on it like that 10 years ago?

Not a no-ball. Even if it was slightly no-ball, the benefit of doubt should go the bowler. Poor call.

Clearly wrong decision.

If you see the whole thing though, one can understand why Ravi called it because when he planted fully his foot was well over, and he didn't have the freeze frame to see exactly when the toe landed

If Umpires cannot call no-balls, they're in the wrong business. Either get rid umpires or use technology.

Bishoo was hard done by here. Even so, spinners who can't keep their heel behind the line, don't deserve the wickets they lose to NBs.

I think he didn't even put his full foot in contact with the ground during this delivery which resulted in a no-ball.

You don't need to, it's where the heel is, even if it's hovering, when the foot first touches the ground.

S Ravi has made some absolutely appalling decisions in this test match. I'm surprised how an umpire who makes so many error is on the elite panel.
