[PICTURE] Quetta Gladiators PSL 10 | Squad and Discussion Thread

Lol so that saud is their captain.

He shouldn't even play t20s to begin with and he is made the captain.

Quetta was held back by that sarfraz before and now this guy is made captain.
This guy is low class player who can't even play fast bowling.

And people will only criticize rizbar just because they come from certain regions.

Quetta has a very good squad.. They should do better job this season... Not sure if saud is gonna be a good captain for them but let's see.

This is a solid team. Is Usman the spinner with break in his action?
 
The batting looks a bit thin if they decide to go with 5 proper bowlers.
They dont a good all rounder in their sude.

He does it every delivery so you can kinda get away with on a technicality. But I agree that its not right and shouldn't be allowed. Also to me atleast the bend in his arm does not look okay. But maybe he is within the limit.
 
The Kiwis look like they have gelled in well.

Really liked Jamieson and Allen’s attitude

Sean Abbott can easily replace Mr. Platinum Faheem Ashraf. Danish Aziz can come in for Akeal Hossain.
 
Sarfaraz Ahmed looks ahead to his new role with Quetta Gladiators

Quetta Gladiators – the champions of the 2019 edition of HBL Pakistan Super League are currently placed on the fifth spot in the ongoing HBL PSL X, having played three matches, winning one and losing two.

The Gladiators arrived in Lahore after playing their first three HBL PSL X matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi. With their next five home matches scheduled in Lahore, they began training at the LCCA Ground, the venue that recently hosted the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025 fixtures.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, former captain of Pakistan Test team, led Pakistan to ICC U19 Cricket World Cup title in 2006, ICC Champions Trophy title in 2017 and later led the Gladiators to their maiden HBL PSL title, beating Peshawar Zalmi by eight wickets in Karachi.

Having captained Gladiators for eight years and in record 80 matches since the inception of HBL PSL in 2016, and later as a player in last edition of the league, Sarfaraz was recently appointed as Team Director of Quetta Gladiators.

Talking to PCB Digital on the sidelines of Quetta’s training at the LCCA Ground, Sarfaraz shed light on his new role, describing both the excitement and challenges it entails. He said, “It is an exciting role for me, and I am trying to learn as I have previously worked as a mentor in the two Champions Cup events for team Dolphins.

“It’s not easy for a player to transition into a coaching role, especially after being involved as a player on the field, but over time you need to evolve your skillset and adapt to new responsibilities. I have been with Quetta since the start of the HBL PSL.”

On the league’s development and success over the years, Sarfaraz remarked, “The league has grown immensely with each passing year since its inception in 2016. A lot of effort has gone in from the PCB management and other stakeholders to make it a success and we all need to work together to make it a bigger brand in the coming years.”

Reflecting on Quetta’s 2019 triumph and prospects this year, Sarfaraz said, “Winning HBL PSL in 2019 was a memorable moment. We had reached finals and playoffs for three years and in 2019, the team combination was perfect to clinch the title in Karachi. We will aim to replicate the same performance in this edition and lift the trophy again.”

When asked about the overseas players selected in the Player Draft, the former Test captain responded: “Unfortunately, we didn’t perform well over the last three years, but this time around, our picks are well suited for a T20 tournament. We have picked some great overseas players and are hopeful to perform well in this season.”

Commenting on the young and sensational Hasan Nawaz and Khawaja Nafay, Sarfaraz said, “Hasan Nawaz is a promising player and this is an opportunity for him to enhance his skills in the league and play for the country. Khawaja Nafay is another young player, who was picked in the Emerging category last year, and afterwards played in the recent most domestic season. This is also a chance for him to learn, which will help him grow as a cricketer.”

Finally, when asked how he sees Saud Shakeel as captain of the side, Sarfaraz responded, “Saud Shakeel has all backing of the team. He has shown good leadership, as reflected in our first win. Though we didn’t win our next two games, we have complete faith in Saud to take the team forward.”

Mendis also gone now. Should look to get Joe Clarke if possible.

Brandon King could be a good replacement pick for any of the teams looking for a top order bat.
 
Chandimal, Gulbadin and Avishka Fernando as replacements

Chandimal is a solid pick. Gulbudin very good for lower order

He is replacing Butler for the playoffs, so he could have easily played the PSL until then

Nothing against Chandimal, he's been a very good test batter for Sri Lanka. But replacing Mendis with Chandimal is like replacing car with a rickshaw.

Asalanka would have been a good substitution. But I think even he is in talks with Mumbai Indians now to join for the play-offs.

You should watch Chandimal bat in the SPL

He’s surprisingly a very good batter with the right approach. He won’t bog down and eat up deliveries
 
Mendis, I hope he isn't picked in the PSL again. I can completely understand someone wanting to play the IPL over the PSL. Infact you can't expect anyone to not take an IPL deal over a PSL deal...the difference in payouts is just astronomical. But giving a bogus reason that you have "safety concerns" tells me that you're a gutless coward. Because if he really had safety concerns then he shouldn't be travelling to Pakistan or India.

Well, I guess we'll see soon enough. I haven't seen him bat recently so if he has changed his approach then I'm not aware of that.

It's not just safety concerns, but once you have committed to one league, you should honor the committment which is why contracts exist. It's not like he had signed the contract for a year. It was only for 1 month. If you can't honor a 1 month contract, you shouldn't be offered any in future.

What happens on the field stays on the field. At the end of the day both are professionals expected to do their job and keep their personal differences aside.
 
Quetta has done the unthinkable.. I think it is their bowling + rilee and fallen and Hassan Nawaz's finishing touches that gave them a bright chance to win the event... They are looking unstoppable
