As it has been mentioned by few posters that Shaheen's elbow might not be 100%, I was looking at few of his old bowling clips and he wasnt wearing anything on the elbow till the start of Eng tour and maybe at the end of PSL. From that time onwards his bowling hasnt been upto its potential.

He didnt have any issues when he played against NZ and SA and wasnt wearing anything to support his elbow. He looked much more in control of his bowling in those series.

So the question stands is his elbow fine and if it isnt why is he still bowling?

He is just 19 years old and if he is being mismanaged by Azhar Mehmood and Mickey Arther this thing really needs to be looked at.

Looking at it again against SA in SA he did have a lean patch over his elbow but now its much more than that which shows it has not improved and might have deteriorated.

Yes there is definitely something going on hasn't been himself since the South Africa series. He needs to be checked if there is something wrong.

If he is carrying an injury, he should not bowl.

Bowling with an injured elbow is very career threatening.

It can also affect the bowler’s confidence because he isn’t capable to take wickets.

Wonder why Azhar and Mickey are persisting with him.

He should have been treated properly, there can definitely be a conflict of interest present as Mickey's and Azhar's job/career is at stake and they want to use every weapon available in their armory.

We could have taken Shinwari, Junaid etc or any other bowler to the WC rather than risking a promising young fast bowler.

If West Indies can get a replacement for Andre Russell
Pakistan should get a replacement for shaheen shah

It is no secret shaheen and hasan ali are toothless on flat wickets and get tonked around easily.forexample watch psl leg of Pakistan where shaheen was hit quite a few time same was case with hasan ali

I don't think injury is holding him back he was bowling with same speed where it is usually. The inexperience is quiet evident in his bowling. he needs to find a way to bowl on flat wickets which he is not doing .Azhar mehmood as a coach is also not helping his cause

Can't do anything about this during the WC. Will need to be looked after the tournament.

His pace has been impressive inspite of the elbow injury. Regularly touching 138-141 km/hr

Half of our team is wrapped in bandages and you noticed only shaheen's??:inti

Oh yes ofcourse injury is now going to be floated as an excuse. Just smell the coffee, this guy ain't got it. He reminds me of a poor man's Mark Ilott and that's saying something. We must be desperate if we are pinning are hopes on this toothless wonder.

Yes let’s judge a 19 years old on few matches the boy was your best bowler in the odi series in SA and vs NZ

He is the only one wearing strapping on his elbow. I think you are talking about tapes on fingers of the fielders.

He was the man of the series against NZ and was really impressive in SA. Even after all the set backs he still averages around 26 with the ball.

If a 19 years old guy with height of 6-6, pace regularly between 140-145 kph and can nip it from good length is not a talent than I dont know what is. He is young so still learning about how to handle his body, any sort of pain on injury will have more effect on him than an experienced campaigner.

Last week somebody mentioned in another thread that Shaheen was suffering from a tennis elbow & that only the team physio is looking at this issue, no further medical assessment has been done. If this is likely true, then PCB should be careful that he is not carrying any career threatening injury & ought to immediately get this lad assessed.

Conflict of interest or not, this management has to go after the WC even if they somehow end up with winning the cup...

Yeah let’s drop our best bowler after Shinwari and get back to the likes of Bilawal Bhatti etc.

You want Wasim and Waqar’s, persist with these young guns.

If they cannot be Wasim or Waqar they will still have a decent career if not a great one.

there is a big bandage on shadab's hand plus why need tapes on fingers.... any explanation??

Rashid Latif says that its something to do with fear of ball hitting and have mentioned it as one of the reasons of dropped catches. Not sure if its correct or not.

However, everybody have tapes on fingers are definitely not injuries.

Guys, it was me who mentioned in another thread about Shaheen's elbow issue.

I can also confirm that Shaheen personally confirmed to me that the strapping on his bowling arm is down to the pain in his elbow.

Those saying it's all excuses etc, that's not the sense I got from Shaheen. He was completely genuine and our conversation lasted a couple of hours over dinner.

He is carrying this injury, of that I am certain.

One poster posted a few weeks back that Afridi is injured and plays with considerable discomfort in the elbow / arm.

Doesnt look like serious strapping to my untrained eye

I guess there is a compression band or some sort of gear and then a patch on top of it. Learning about the issues with elbow of Shaheen from few of the fellow posters and than looking at Shaeen's arm which was clear from any strapping in NZ series and now gave an impression than his elbow might not be 100%.

I hope its not true as its never good to see a young bowler struggling with injuries.

Below is the Pic from NZ series where his arm looked completely free of any strapping:

Thanks Usman for confirming it again.

well.. the point I was referring to is that its sad to see that our players are so soft that they want tapes on fingers, second so far I have seen and personally experienced that its definitely causes catches to be dropped and seems like Management is sleeping on this case... (same as they been sleeping on all the issues for years)

Players' safety should be a top priority, if they want some sort of legal protection on their fingers then they need to be provided that.

:O:O:O lol not sure how to react to this... so all this time they were playing fine and now its safety issue?? seen any other team doing that? as I said no idea how to react to your comment:abbas1

I've asked a couple of people who are involved with the squad at the World Cup about this.

So do we only do things when other countries do it?

ok. It's precautionary.

It's for his throwing rather than his bowling.

So do we need a serious injury first?

I think you are dodging my question. The point is its a distraction while catching/fielding not sure if you have played cricket you may know. Also if our players do it all the time then it makes sense but all of a sudden in a big tournament its mind boggling.
Ya it may be a very minor or even non issue but a basic cause of dropping catches as well.Experts have discussed this as a concern in various sports shows.

As I said our Management is very pathetic so I expect them not to pay attention to this. Since our fielding coach left we have been doing nonsense stuff on field anyways..

So, this clears the fake story of a certain poster who claimed that Shaheen has lots of pain.

Dont understand why people feel the need to lie.
