Was this a no ball?

27.3.1 The wicket-keeper shall remain wholly behind the wicket at the striker’s end from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball delivered by the bowler touches the bat or person of the striker or passes the wicket at the striker’s end or the striker attempts a run.

27.3.2 In the event of the wicket-keeper contravening this Law, the striker’s end umpire shall call and signal No ball as soon as applicable after the delivery of the ball.

I missed it. How was he looking? Like was him getting out a matter of time only?

Interesting. As per what I understand from reading this, it was clearly a no ball.

No Ball but easy to miss by umpires.
Sometimes people make mistakes.
It happens.

More worried about the lack of consistency on LBW's and running down the wicket by bowlers from all teams being handled inconsistency.

Looked okish. Was pushing his hands towards the ball a bit too much and in the end got out doing that. If he would have been in 20s I would have said we should carry on with him. At 34 I am not sure if he is the right investment now.

Only a matter of time when your hockey full back stance comes back to bite you. Fawad is playing the wrong sport.

Wasn't exactly dominating, but looked mostly in control against Archer, Woakes and Bess. I though lapse in concentration to reach for this ball to get out. Even more unfortunate given it may be no-ball

His been treated unfairly. Should be given chance for a complete series for his batting.

Maybe camera angle not that good but this could well/should have been a no ball

He looked compatible out there after getting his eye in, got out to a beauty; a bit of natural variation with the bounce generated of the pitch and just enough to turn to take the edge.

If I only think about Fawad then yes he deserves and he was mistreated. However, if I think about Pak team I dont know if we need another 34 year old in the middle order when we have 4 other batsmen of 30+ age in the top 7. I am not sure if he has enough left in him, we will be better off to start developing a young guy for future in my opinion.

It was a good ball, but Fawad took his hand away from the body while following the ball. He could have easily survived it just by leaving it or being in the line.

Bess deserves credit for his line which forced him to play and the bounce especially done him, it's tough to leave those and Bess deceived him with turn as well

How do you know that isnt after the ball was released?

Better pics in OP now.

I'm confused, so the law states the keeper can be in front of the stumps if the ball hits batsman or bat, so that is exactly what happened right. The ball hit the bat and keeper took it infront of the stumps :/

Surprised this wasn't spotted. Wholly behind the wicket would mean this is a clear no ball.

This footage was also used to review butler's change in positioning and still no one picked up on this?

While i think it should be no ball, but as a keeper isnt this a disadvantage? Cause the impact will be fast and you are more likely to drop it.

Please.

Umpires these days struggle to adjudge conventional front foot no-balls.

To expect them to catch something niche like this is asking for the moon on a stick.

Seems this should also be covered by the 3rd ump - how can a square leg ump also keep an eye on this?
