Legendary cricketer Javed Miandad wore Army cap during his visit to Pindi Stadium on Day 1 of the opening Test to show his love for the Pakistan Army.

Miandad clarified that he didn’t do this to answer in any way to the Indian team who put their army caps in an ODI against Australia earlier this year when India and Pakistan were going through political tensions.

“I wore an army cap just to show love for my army, and nothing else. I wanted to be a soldier and I used to wear such caps often during my childhood,

“Virat Kohli and the Indian team wore army cap for fulfilling political means but I didn’t,” he said while talking to a cricket website.

It must be noted here that Miandad along with Sri Lanka’s Bandula Warnapura was invited on Day 1 of the opening Test. He interacted with the fans in the stadium and clicked selfies with them.

Hes explained this.

"I wore an army cap just to show love for my army, "

Hes not a current player so no issues.

Unlike the indian team who used it politcally after they took a hiding.

to be fair air force apparel would have been given more appropriate given how both were performing at the time :ashwin

That's what I noticed firstly. Lol at i wore because i love and they wore it because they use it as political sign. Some people think themselves as more than they are capable of.

I remember in the very early 80s in lahore, there was a fashion trend for kids army uniforms, like superhero outfits in the west nowadays.
I used to wear my army outfit with pride on the streets of lahore!

Hats off to you Mr. Miandad(pun intended)!

Nothing wrong per se with this, since he is just an ordinary citizen....but Javed Miandad does have a tendency to spew a lot of filth (the recent Nepal, Hindu comments for eg.)

Hum kare tho chamatkaar...Aap kare tho balathkaar

Seems like a faulty analogy on many different levels.

1. He's an ex-player.
2. He's not representing Pakistan in any official capacity, nor is representing PCB.
3. He didn't collaborate with any other player(s) on this.

Why so ??

We have our justified reasons. You have yours. Just go about doing what you want to do and not liken with what we did and try to justify.

It's not really a valid comparison. I mention why in my previous post.

Some posters are making absurd claims. Just accept it instead of giving absurd reasons. You can't decide rules as per your wish and whatever suits you.
