TOURNAMENT WINDOW FOR CPL 2025 CONFIRMED

The 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will take place from Thursday 14 August to Sunday 21 September. This window has been agreed between CPL and Cricket West Indies (CWI) and once again there will be no clash with West Indies international matches.

The six teams taking part in the 2025 season will be Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders. The teams will compete across 34 matches to decide who will claim the 2025 CPL title.

Pete Russell, CEO of the Republic Bank CPL, said: “We are pleased to have once again worked with Cricket West Indies to find a window that allows the very best players from across the region to take part in the CPL. The 2024 season was our most successful to date and we are looking forward to building on that success in 2025.”

Lynford Inverary, Cricket West Indies acting CEO and COO, said: “We are delighted to confirm the 2025 CPL window. While CWI continues to take a leading role in shaping our overall cricket calendar, the CPL remains a key part of our cricketing ecosystem, playing an important role in the development and promotion of the game throughout the Caribbean. Our collaboration with CPL ensures that the best talent will be on display while avoiding any conflicts with international cricket.”

The Guyana Amazon Warriors will proudly reprise their role as hosts for the 2025 edition of the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL), scheduled to take place from 10 to 18 July at the iconic Providence Stadium

The Amazon Warriors, champions of the 2023 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), will join four elite franchises from around the globe as they vie for the prestigious GSL trophy and a share of the US$1 million prize fund. With international talent converging on Guyana, the stage is set for another exhilarating tournament that showcases world-class T20 cricket alongside the vibrant culture of the host nation.

The Amazon Warriors came heartbreakingly close to reaching the GSL final in 2024, falling short only on Net Run Rate after a spirited campaign. Nevertheless, they demonstrated their trademark resilience and class, hallmarks that have defined their CPL journey. One of the most consistent teams in CPL history, the Amazon Warriors have qualified for the playoffs every year, reaching the final on an incredible seven occasions. They added yet another strong season to their record books by finishing as runners-up in the 2024 CPL.

Looking ahead to another thrilling chapter, Sir Clive Lloyd, Chairman of the ExxonMobil GSL, shared his excitement:

“The Guyana Amazon Warriors were brilliant hosts for the tournament in 2024, and I know all the players and visiting teams appreciated the warm welcome they received. Beyond the cricket, the Warriors and the people of Guyana helped showcase this incredible country to the world. This year’s tournament offers another wonderful opportunity for Guyana to shine as a top-tier destination, known for its breathtaking beauty, hospitality, and passion for the game.

The 2025 ExxonMobil GSL promises to build on the success of the 2024 tournament, bringing thrilling contests and unforgettable moments to the cricket-loving fans of Guyana and beyond. With the Amazon Warriors set to battle for home glory, and an impressive lineup of global challengers, this summer’s showdown is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events on the international cricket calendar.

Holder leaves Barbados Royals after 13 years to join STKNP; Rutherford moves to Royals

In a landmark move in the history of CPL, experienced allrounder Jason Holder will leave his home franchise Barbados Royals after 13 years, to join St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (STKNP) for the upcoming season. As part of the trades and transfers before the CPL draft next month, STKNP also acquired middle-order batter Alick Athanaze while trading middle-order basher Sherfane Rutherford to Royals.

Holder had been with Royals since the inaugural CPL season in 2013. That period included lifting the trophy twice, in 2014 and 2019, the latter under Holder's captaincy. He played 104 matches for Royals to take 97 wickets that included two four-fors, and also scored 1169 in 85 innings at a strike rate of 129.60.

Rutherford, currently playing IPL 2025 for Gujarat Titans (GT), will be turning out for his third CPL franchise, having represented STKNP for the last four seasons and Guyana Amazon Warriors from 2018 to 2020.

Athanaze has also turned out only for Royals so far, in 2023 and 2024. He made his international debut in 2023 before his CPL debut, and played 19 matches in all for Royals. He scored 344 runs in those outings, averaging 22.93 and striking at 106.83 with just one half-century.

STKNP had finished last in 2024 with just one win from 10 games, while Royals had progressed to the playoffs and lost qualifier 2 to runners-up Amazon Warriors.

CPL 2025 will be played from August 14 to September 21 with no clashes with West Indies' international assignments. St Lucia Kings are the defending champions this time.

Five Pakistan players set to feature in Caribbean Premier League 2025

Mohammad Amir and Usman Tariq slated to play for the Trinbago Knight Riders, Mohammad Nawaz will represent the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Imad Wasim has joined the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons while Hassan Khan will be part of the Guyana Amazon Warriors.⁩

Seems like there isn't much exciting talent coming through from Pak. We used to have good no. of players getting picked for CPL in the past. Hassan Khan is now a US player. So just 4 Pakistani players out of which two are retired. Usman Tariq and Nawaz doesn't seem to inspire much confidence either.

CPL 2025 Set for Explosive Start as Caribbean Cricket Carnival Returns: Everything You Need to KNow

The Caribbean Premier League’s 13th edition will light up the cricket calendar from August 14, with the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots facing Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in Basseterre. CPL 2025 promises six weeks of high-octane action across six countries, culminating in the final on September 21 at Providence Stadium, Guyana. In a format echoing the IPL, the top two teams from the league stage will enjoy two chances to secure a spot in the grand finale, while the other two playoff qualifiers will battle for the remaining berth.

This year’s CPL 2025 will be staged in St Kitts, Antigua, St Lucia, Trinidad, Barbados, and Guyana, with 34 matches set to be played. From returning legends to fresh breakout talent, the tournament blends proven star power with the next generation of Caribbean cricket.

Legends Return, Young Guns Rise

Few stories have stirred as much buzz as the Bravo brothers’ reunion. Dwayne Bravo, the league’s most decorated player with five titles, retired from playing after an injury ended his 2024 season but returns as head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders, replacing Phil Simmons. His younger brother, Darren Bravo, will rejoin the CPL after last playing in 2022, aiming to rediscover his rhythm at 36.

Experience will be everywhere. Imran Tahir, now 46, continues to defy age, holding the record as the only overseas bowler with over 100 CPL wickets. He’s joined by 38-year-old Moeen Ali at Guyana Amazon Warriors, both aiming to secure another title. Kieron Pollard, fresh from winning the MLC with MI New York, captains TKR alongside fellow veterans Colin Munro and Alex Hales—who is just 41 runs short of surpassing Pollard in all-time T20 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan, signed by the Falcons, is just two wickets shy of the 500-T20 milestone. Meanwhile, reigning champions St Lucia Kings face the absence of skipper Faf du Plessis, sidelined for groin surgery. David Wiese, a 40-year-old T20 journeyman, will lead in his place, hoping to repeat last year’s maiden title win.

Among the “ones to watch” are rising local stars from the newly established breakout league. Jediah Blades of Amazon Warriors offers both swing and death-over control, while Kofi James of Barbados Royals blends top-order aggression with handy offspin. CPL rules require each team to include at least one breakout league player every match, allowing space for up to five overseas professionals in the XI.

Title Contenders and Global Attention

The Trinbago Knight Riders, loaded with T20 icons such as Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine, and the Bravo brothers, enter CPL 2025 as early favourites. Amazon Warriors, champions in 2023 and runners-up last season, remain strong despite losing Glenn Phillips to injury. The Kings, even without Noor Ahmad and Matthew Forde, will look to defy the odds under coach Daren Sammy.

As always, the CPL overlaps with other franchise tournaments, notably the Hundred, influencing player availability. Yet, fan engagement will be global—Indian viewers can catch the games on JioStar or Fancode, audiences in the USA and UK on Willow and TNT Sports, while Sky NZ and SuperSport cover New Zealand and Sub-Saharan Africa respectively. Ball-by-ball commentary will be available online for those following every delivery.

From seasoned match-winners to fearless newcomers, CPL 2025 looks set to deliver the Caribbean’s trademark blend of cricket fireworks, crowd energy, and unforgettable moments. Whether you’re watching from the stands in St Kitts or streaming halfway across the world, the “biggest party in sport” is ready to begin.

The second match of The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw St Kitts & Nevis Patriots pitted against last season's runners-up - Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Patriots won their first home game in three years in the competition opener the previous evening but were brought back down to earth with a bump as the Warriors completed an ice veined run chase to win by five wickets with 16 balls remaining.
The Warriors’ experienced skipper Imran Tahir won the toss with a bit of weather around in Basseterre and duly elected to bowl first. The Patriots made what seemed like a more than competitive total by posting 153/8 largely thanks to opener Andre Fletcher’s 60 off 41 deliveries.

However, the Warriors’ much vaunted batting card soon made light work of the total as Ben McDermott blitzed 75 off 39 balls at the top of the order, spanking ten fours and four sixes to get Guyana off to a flier.

They never looked in trouble as Shai Hope compiled a classy half century to guide the Warriors home with ease after the pair rattled along in a 114-run partnership that saw McDermott score his first CPL fifty on debut.

The fifth over of the run chase saw the key moment in the match as Naseem Shah failed to hold onto a chipped return catch from McDermott off his very first delivery when the opener was on 32 and had just plundered 19 runs off the previous over. The chance went down and the boundary peppering swiftly resumed.

The win gave Warriors their last fifth victory in a row over the Patriots and saw the 2023 champions get their 2025 CPL campaign off to an eye-catching start.

McDermott was later named Player of the Match for his scintillating innings and the six time CPL finalists Guyana Amazon Warriors head straight to the top of the table after a dominant start to this year’s competition.

Running concurrently with the Hundred is no good for CPL

But a good job by Guyana despite carrying 2 useless overseas players in Moeen Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won a tight third match of The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in front of their home fans at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, defeating Barbados Royals by 6 wickets with just two balls remaining in a pulsating affair.

The Royals are two-time CPL winners and had won the last two meetings with the Falcons but a litany of dropped catches and fluffed run outs cost them in their first outing of this year’s competition

Falcons captain, Imad Wasim won the toss on a damp night in Antigua and his decision to chase proved to be a sage one with his side knowing what they needed to do and getting a chance to assess the best way to compile runs on a tricky surface.

Karima Gore was named the player of the match as his second consecutive fifty saw the Falcons chase down a target of 151, a mature innings saw him unbeaten on 64 off 53 deliveries.

Gore was ably supported by Jewel Andrew, the opener posting 28 off 25 deliveries before falling LBW to Jomel Warrican, who incidentally picked up his first CPL wicket in ten years, Jacques Kallis being his previous victim in the 2015 competition.

Fifties for Quinton de Kock and captain Rovman Powell gave the Royals hope of getting off to a winning start but Gore’s innings proved the decisive one, his accumulation of 24 singles interspersed with just five boundaries was noteworthy, “When I first went in, I'd just get used to the pitch but it seemed very difficult for me.” He said after the game, adding that “I pride myself on running, trying to keep as fit as possible… they always say singles are part of aggressive batting. So once you can run plenty with the odd boundaries, you will keep going."

Colin Munro blitzed a remarkable hundred for Trinbago Knight Riders to give them an impressive victory over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by 12 runs in the fourth game of the 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Munro scored 120 off just 57 balls from the top of the order, hitting at an emphatic 210 strike rate that included 14 fours and six sixes.

A high scoring match saw the Patriots pile on 219/7 in reply with Jason Holder top scoring with 44 trying to the last to haul his side into contention but the Knight Riders total of 231/5 was always just out of reach.

The Patriots will look back and rue a relatively slow start on a flat batting track with just 23 runs scored off the first three overs of their response that in the end saw them only fall short by two maximum blows.

After winning the toss, Holder inserted the Knight Riders but might well have soon regretted the decision as he saw his bowlers dispatched to all parts of Warner Park.

An opening stand of 114 between Munro and Alex Hales was broken in the ninth over but by then the platform was well and truly set for a monster score.

Player of the match Munro was particularly brutal down the ground, hitting both pace and spin back past the bowlers as he peppered the hoardings.

The Kiwi batter eventually fell swatting a Holder short ball to Rilee Rossouw at extra cover but by then the Knight Riders had amassed 213 runs and Munro had eclipsed Nicholas Pooran’s 102* against Barbados in the 2023 CPL to claim the Trinidad Franchise’s highest individual score.

In doing so the New Zealander also became only the second overseas player, alongside Faf fu Plessis, to score two CPL hundreds.

The Knight Riders joined Guyana Amazon Warriors at the top of the table with one win from one while the Patriots have chalked up two defeats after victory in their own first game.

CHASE AND KINGS CLOSE OUT THRILLER

Saint Lucia Kings and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots were involved in a last ball thriller in game six of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in Basseterre. A brilliant debut innings from Breakout League pick Navin Bidaisee saw the Patriots stay in contention throughout a tight run chase as they attempted to haul down the Kings total of 200/8.

The match went down to the final delivery with Bidaisee and the Patriots requiring four to win off David Wiese’s last ball. Wiese nailed his yorker for most of the over but missed his length slightly off the crucial delivery to put one in the slot. Navin duly bunted down towards the boundary at long off only for the towering Tim David to pull off an ice-veined catch to give Kings victory by three runs and break Patriot hearts in the process.

Roston Chase was named player of the match for scoring 61 off 38 deliveries with the bat and cementing an all-round performance with 2/27 with the ball, his wily spin economical as ever and pocketing the wickets of Rilee Rossouw and Patriots skipper Jason Holder.

“It was a bit nerve-racking!” said Chase post-match. “I think we made it a hard victory. I thought we could have won it a bit more outright, but I'm still grateful for the two points.”

With the momentum shifting back and forth all match it was a bitter pill for the Patriots to lose at the last after Bidaisee played such a spectacular maiden CPL innings to finish with scoring 50 runs off just 36 balls to see the game go right down to the wire.

The loss sees the Patriots with just one win in four matches and three defeats on the bounce. The Kings head to the top of the CPL table on net run rate despite their first match against the Falcons being abandoned due to rain.

Falcons vs Trinbago, 7th Match at North Sound

Trinbago Knight Riders have won the toss and they have opted to field first.

MCCOY AND FALCONS SOAR AGAINST KNIGHT RIDERS

Another night, another pulsating match. Antigua & Barbuda Falcons and Trinbago Knight Riders locked horns in the seventh game of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and the Falcons took the spoils in the last over of the match to win by 8 runs.

Needing 14 off the final over and with the mighty Kieron Pollard well set and with his eye in the Knight Riders looked set to complete the victory. Enter Shamar Springer. The right arm quick held his nerve with a mixture of short and full balls that Pollard failed to send to the fence.

Four off the last ball was not enough for Pollard or the Knight Riders, the win seeing the Falcons head to the top of the table and Nicholas Pooran’s side languishing second from bottom.

Pooran won the toss and inserted the Falcons, this looked to have worked out very nicely as the Knight Riders bowled tightly to reduce the hosts to 77/5 in the 14th over. A counter-attacking knock by Fabian Allen from the lower order saw him strike 45 off just 20 deliveries including three fours and three sixes. The runs were crucial and hauled the Falcons to a respectable total of 167/6.

Southpaw quick bowler Obed McCoy earned the Player of the March award for taking 4/39 with the ball to keep the Knight Riders at bay. The dangerous Colin Munro guided to short third for 44 after getting the Knight Riders off to another rattling start with the bat, McCoy pocketing him and the dangerous Alex Hales in the same over.

Pooran, Keacy Carty and Darren Bravo chipped away but couldn’t stay at the crease long enough to make a match-winning contribution. Pollard then smashed seven boundaries to get Knight Riders back in the contest but ultimately couldn’t get his side over the line at the last.

Patriots vs Royals, 8th Match at Basseterre

Barbados Royals won the toss and elected to field first

Barbados Royals XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Brandon King, Kadeem Alleyne, Rovman Powell (capt), Sherfane Rutherford, Kofi James, Daniel Sams, Ramon Simmonds, Nyeem Young, Eathan Bosch, Jomel Warrican

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots XI: Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher (wk), Kyle Mayers, Navian Bidaisee, Rilee Rossouw, Mohammad Rizwan, Jason Holder (capt), Abbas Afridi, Naseem Shah, Waqar Salamkheil, Ashmead Nedd

Game eight of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw another close and hard fought contest between St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Barbados Royals.

Chasing the Patriots total of 174/8 the Royals managed to get within touching distance but when Jason Holder pinned Jomel Warrican lbw with the second ball of the nineteenth over it consigned the Royals to their second defeat in two games.

The 12 run victory sees the Patriots move to second position in the table albeit they’ve played five matches to get their two wins. Royals captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to chase at Warner Park Stadium, Ramon Simmonds was the pick of the Royals bowlers as the left arm quick claimed 3/26 from his four over burst that included an impressive 11 dot balls and conceding just three boundaries.

The telling contributions with the bat for Patriots came from the engine room of Kyle Mayers (42) and captain Holder, the latter scooped the player of the match gong for his 38 off 21 deliveries with the bat and a scintillating 4/14 with the ball.

The Royals were well set in their chase at 92/3 off ten overs but they fell away in the second half of their innings, failing to build significant partnerships and ultimately being blown away by Holder taking two wickets with consecutive balls twice in their innings.

After failing to bowl sides out in previous CPL tournaments – the Patriots went fifty innings without taking all ten wickets - Holder’s side have now managed it twice in this year’s tournament already and have given their chances of making it to the latter stages a shot in the arm in the process.

Powell’s Royal's meanwhile have plenty to ponder as they still look for their first win of the 2025 competition.

Amazon vs Falcons, 9th Match at North Sound

Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons XI: Jewel Andrew (wk), Rahkeem Cornwall, Karima Gore, Bevon Jacobs, Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim (capt), Fabian Allen, Shamar Springer, Obed McCoy, Jayden Seales, Usama Mir

Guyana Amazon Warriors XI: Ben McDermott, Kevlon Anderson, Shai Hope (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Moeen Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Romario Shepherd, Dwaine Pretorius, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph, Imran Tahir (capt)

After three closely fought games in a row there was a thumping. Game nine of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Guyana Amazon Warriors comfortably overcome Antigua & Barbuda Falcons by a huge margin of 83 runs.

The win sees the Warriors move into second position behind the Falcons on the table but Imran Tahir’s side have impressed with two wins in two and have eight games in hand.

It was the Warriors’ skipper who scooped the Player Of The Match award with a scintillating haul of 5/21 with the ball that snuffed out any hopes the Falcons had of chasing down an imposing target of 211/3

For the first time in the competition the side winning the toss decided to set the tone and bat first, on a damp night at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua eyebrows could have been raised at Tahir’s decision to do so.

Not for long. After a delay of 54 minutes for rain, the Warriors set about slamming the boundaries and building an intimidating score.

Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer showed their class with the bat once more with a 106-run partnership in 44 balls, Hope top scoring with a classy 82 off 54 before Hetmyer opened his shoulders in destructive fashion, hitting 65 off 26 balls that included five fours and five sixes.

It was always going to be a tricky chase but the Falcons got off to a fast start through Rahkeem Cornwall (10 off 3) and in form batter Karima Gore (31 off 14) but neither could stay at the crease and do any real damage, the wickets came and went swiftly after them. Tahir then stepped up to weave his web, after a double wicket maiden to start he never looked back, pocketing the best T20 bowling figures of his storied career to win the match for his side.

Game ten of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Trinbago Knight Riders chalk up a hard fought victory over Saint Lucia Kings by 18 runs.

Both sides have had a quiet start to this year’s competition with just one win apiece in the early stages heading into this evening’s match at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet.

David Wiese won the toss for the Kings and elected to field first, that gave Colin Munro and Alex Hales the opportunity to have first use of the wicket and the Knight Riders' opening pair impressed once more with a 47 run opening stand. Wiese then pocketed Hales after an uppish flay was snaffled by Tabraiz Shamsi at short third.

Munro was fluent once more, striking six boundaries on his way to 43 from 30 balls before holing out to mid-off to give Shamsi his first wicket and the opportunity to dial up his shoe based telephone celebration.

Knight Riders captain Nicholas Pooran compiled a calm 34 off 30 balls while player of the match Kieron Pollard inflicted the real damage, clearing the ropes for six sixes and four fours to see Knight Ridders post a competitive total of 183/7.

After managing to stay in the hunt with the bat, Kings needed an improbable 29 off the final over . Hopes were raised of an unlikely victory against the odds when Ackeem Auguste duly launched Andre Russell's first delivery over long on for six but the bowler had the last laugh, getting out of the over for just four more runs and picking up the wicket of Delano Potgieter in the process.

The Knight Riders pulled off the win in Kings’ own backyard to head up to third position in the CPL table while the home side suffered their first loss of the competition to go with their abandoned first match which sees them one place above Barbados Royals at the foot of the table.

Amazon vs Kings, 13th Match at Gros Islet

Guyana Amazon Warriors have won the toss and they have opted to bat first

Guyana Amazon Warriors XI: Kevlon Anderson, Ben McDermott, Shai Hope†, Shimron Hetmyer, Moeen Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Romario Shepherd, Dwaine Pretorius, Gudakesh Motie, Jediah Blades, Imran Tahir*

St Lucia Kings XI: Johnson Charles, Ackeem Auguste, Tim Seifert†, Roston Chase, Aaron Jones, Tim David, David Wiese*, Keon Gaston, Khary Pierre, Tabraiz Shamsi, Oshane Thomas

Game 13 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw defending champions Saint Lucia Kings pull off an impressive run chase against last year’s defeated finalists, Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Ackeem Auguste played a wonderful innings of 73 off 35 balls to earn the player of the match award and see the Kings over the line by four wickets with 11 balls remaining.

The Kings laid down a real marker in the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, hauling in a total of 202/6 set by the Warriors in ice cool fashion, the victory sees them move to second position in the table with six points from five matches albeit two of those were abandoned due to rain.

The Warriors would be disappointed not to defend a robust total as they won the toss and elected to bat first, Romario Shepherd plundering 73 off just 34 balls with five fours and seven sixes to set a challenging score. The Kings didn’t blink in their response as they inflicted a first defeat of this year’s competition on their opponents.

Tim Seifert and Auguste got the chase off to something of a flier after the early loss of Johnson Charles, 86 runs smashed in the powerplay broke the back of the total and the reigning CPL champions never looked back from there.

Auguste eventually fell by holing out to the cover sweeper off Jediah Blades to leave his side on 140-4 and plenty still to do but the experienced hands of Tim David (25), Aaron Jones (16) and captain David Wiese (10 not out) saw the Warriors home as they sent a message to the rest of the field that they remain in the hunt for a title defence.

Lol even Ashok Dinda can bowl better than him

One ball from Oshane Thomas cost 22 runs but Saint Lucia Kings beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by four wickets in the Caribbean Premier League

Warriors were struggling at 95-5 when Thomas, who had figures of 1-18 from two overs, came on to bowl the 15th over.

He started with a dot ball and a four, before he needed five attempts to bowl a legal third delivery, costing his team 22 runs in the process.

He started with a no-ball and wide before a no-ball was clubbed over mid-wicket for six by Romario Shepherd. Another overstep was then hit over square-leg for six more.

Thomas eventually bowled a legal delivery, but Shepherd also hit that over square-leg for a 95m six, meaning one ball cost 22 runs.

A dot ball and single followed before Iftikhar Ahmed hit a six from the final ball to mean 33 had been taken from the over.

The 17th over from Keon Gaston also consisted of 12 balls after six wides and cost 27 runs as Warriors got up to 202-6, with Shepherd unbeaten on 73 from 34 balls.

In reply, Tim Seifert (37 off 24) and Ackeem Auguste (73 off 35) shared 87 for the second wicket to lay a platform at 105-2 when the former was caught off Imran Tahir.

Warriors chipped away but Kings were always ahead of the rate and a quickfire 25 from Tim David ensured that stayed the case.

The Australian was dismissed with 24 required but Kings got over the line with 11 balls to spare.

The win lifts Kings to second in the table, while Warriors sit third.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons XI: Jewel Andrew (wk), Rakheem Cornwall, Karima Gore, Andries Gous, Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim (capt), Fabian Allen, Usama Mir, Salman Irshad, Jayden Seales, Obed McCoy

AMIR, HALES AND CARTY HELP TKR START HOME LEG WITH A WIN

The 14th match of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw the Trinbago Knight Riders secure an eight-wicket victory over the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in their first home game of the season. A superb bowling display followed by fifties from Alex Hales and Kacey Carty was enough to set up the win and see Knight Riders move to second place on the table.

The Falcons were two wickets down in the first over after Mohammad Amir dismissed both Rahkeem Cornwall and Karima Gore for ducks as he started the game with a double wicket maiden. They then lost four wickets without adding to the score to go from 71/2 to 71/6 thanks in part to Andre Russell taking two wickets without conceding a run in the second double wicket maiden of the Falcons innings.

Pakistani duo Imad Wasim and Usama Mir put together a recovery with a partnership of 64 which brought the Falcons back into the contest ending on a respectable score of 146/7. While the innings from Imad was hugely important in keeping the Falcons in this game, he left the field injured and took no further part in the contest, which will be a major concern for the Falcons who will have to worry over availability of a key player and their captain.

A steady Power-Play saw the Knight Riders reach 42/1 with Colin Munro the only wicket to fall. A partnership of 87 between Carty and Hales took any remaining drama out of the contest as the two right handers calmly put their team in complete control.

There were a few chances to break the second wicket stand, not least when Andries Gous missed a stumping off the bowling of Karima Gore when Hales was on 33. The stand was eventually broken when Carty edged the ball on to his stumps off the bowling of Jayden Seales for 60.

Hales passed fifty from 44 balls but it was Knight Riders’ captain Nicholas Pooran who sealed the victory with a big six as the home side ran out winners with eight balls remaining.

Amir was named Player of the Match for his 3/22 but this was a very impressive all-round win from the Knight Riders who have started their home leg of the 2025 tournament in fine fashion.

Patriots vs Kings, 15th Match at Gros Islet

St Lucia Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots XI: Evin Lewis, Andre Fletcher, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Kyle Mayers, Alick Athanaze, Jason Holder (capt), Jyd Goolie, Navin Bidaisee, Abbas Afridi, Naseem Shah, Ashmead Nedd, Waqar Salamkheil

St Lucia Kings XI: Johnson Charles, Ackeem Auguste, Tim Seifert (wk), Roston Chase, Aaron Jones, Tim David, David Wiese (capt), Keon Gaston, Khary Pierre, Tabraiz Shamsi, Oshane Thomas

Match 15 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw defending champions Saint Lucia Kings continue their impressive start to this year’s campaign as they defeated St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by seven wickets with 18 balls remaining.

A comfortable run chase by the home team in front of a jubilant home crowd saw the Kings notch their second win against the Patriots this season. The defeat sees Jason Holder’s side remain in fifth position in the CPL table as they suffered their fifth loss in seven matches.

Tabraiz Shamsi was named player of the match, the South African spinner claiming 2/17 for the Kings after David Wiese won the toss and inserted the opposition. A score of 177/3 looked to be a challenging total but was soon vaporised by Kings’ top order.

Johnson Charles got the chase off to a blistering start with 47 off just 17 balls that included five fours and four sixes, opening partner Tim Seifert anchored the chase with a classy 68 off 45 balls, his third CPL half century.

The two openers racked up 72-runs in the Powerplay, making full use of a biscuit coloured batting track that was conducive to stroke-play. Neither could quite see their side over the line but Ackeem Auguste (29 off 20) Roston Chase (15*) and Tim David (16*) saw the Kings canter over the finish line with three overs to spare.

It was a truly dominant performance from the Saint Lucia outfit, one that saw them continue to impress and outline that they are the team to beat in this year’s CPL.

After the match, Captain David Wiese was pleased with his side’s performance whilst still stating they have room to improve. An ominous thought for the rest of the chasing pack.

“That was a good one. I spoke at the toss about getting a complete team performance. I feel like we covered all our bases. There's still a little room for improvement, but it was a really good performance from everyone tonight.”

Royals vs Trinbago, 16th Match at Tarouba

Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and elected to field first

Barbados Royals XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Brandon King, Kadeem Alleyne, Rovman Powell (capt), Sherfane Rutherford, Shaqkere Parris, Daniel Sams, Ramon Simmonds, Chris Green, Eathan Bosch, Jomel Warrican

Trinbago Knight Riders XI: Colin Munro, Alex Hales, Keacy Carty, Nicholas Pooran (capt & wk), Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, Mohammad Amir, Ali Khan, McKenny Clarke

Game 16 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Trinbago Knight Riders defeat Barbados Royals by 7 wickets with 13 balls remaining.

It was another pulsating run chase from the Knight Riders, Colin Munro striking 67 off 44 balls to scoop the Player of the Match award as they hauled down the Royals target of 178/6 to go to the top of the CPL points table.

For the Royals, who were sent in, Sherfane Rutherford top scored with 45 while Kadeem Alleyne scored 41 and captain Rovman Powell weighed in with 31. For the home team, it was Andre Russell who proved to be the main destroyer with the ball with figures of 3/37.

In reply, a 93-run partnership between Munro and Nicholas Pooran was the crucial one and the former was also dropped whilst on 27 when Jomel Warrican spilled a tricky chance in the outfield to see the back of the dangerman.

Alex Hales and Keacy Carty were dismissed in quick succession but any hopes the Royals might have had about stifling the chase were emphatically ended when Pooran arrived in the middle and the Knight Riders captain struck three consecutive sixes off Rovman Powell. A captain’s knock saw Pooran undefeated at the end with 65 off 40 balls including six sixes.

Whilst the Knight Riders sit pretty at the top of the points table with four wins from their five matches it is a different story for the Royals who languish at the foot of the table without a win in their four games and they face a stiff task to qualify for the play-offs unless they can swiftly turn their fortunes around.

Munro spoke after the match about how his side are one of the teams to beat alongside Guyana Amazon Warriors who they will face up in their next fixture.

“This is a good team that gave me my first opportunity in franchise cricket. I wish I knew why I was so successful here because then I'd take that knowledge around the world.”

Adding that, “I know that with the talent we have, whether I bat slowly or get off to a flyer, we've got the power to make up for it. It's not just about the top order; the whole team is doing a good job. We spoke about it because now, we are the hunted.”

Game 17 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Trinbago Knight Riders make it two wins in two days as they defeated rivals Guyana Amazon Warriors by 6 wickets with 16 balls remaining.

Another impressive run chase from the Knight Riders, in front of a packed Brian Lara Cricket Academy, saw them knock off the 164 runs set by the Warriors. Alex Hales and Colin Munro once again put on a mighty opening stand of 116 runs to put the match out of the reach of the visitors.

Hales top scored with 74 off 43 balls with seven sixes and three fours while Munro continued his run glut in this year’s CPL with 52 off 30. Imran Tahir dismissed both openers and captain Nicholas Pooran and Keacy Carty in quick succession to finish as Warriors sole wicket taker with 4/27 off his four overs.

Despite the veteran spinner's heroics the Knight Riders were too strong and the chase completed with ease. Earlier, Player of the Match Akeal Hosein picked up 3/27 to restrict the Warriors to a slightly below par total on a decent batting track at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.

Shai Hope top scored for the Warriors but he fell in bizarre fashion on 39 when an attempted reverse ramp of Terrance Hinds ended in disaster, the batter losing his shape and his bearings in the crease to dislodge his own bail with the bat and be dismissed hit wicket.

The target was never going to be enough against a confident and in form Knight Riders batting unit, after Hales and Munro has set the platform the vastly experienced and powerful hands of Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell saw the home side romp to victory.

The third win in as many matches at home this season sees the Knight Riders cement their position at the top of the table with a total of ten points from six matches with just one defeat. The Warriors are on four points from their four matches as the tournament heads toward the halfway stage.

Game 19 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Trinbago Knight Riders defeat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots beat by 12 runs. The win sees the Knight Riders head to the top of the CPL table with 12 points while the Patriots sit second bottom with four points and six defeats.

Kieron Pollard made it rain sixes in Tarouba as he cleared the ropes seven times in eight deliveries towards the end of the Knight Riders innings including four in a row off the bowling of Waqar Salamkheil.

It was a blitzkrieg from Pollard and it was much needed after the Knight Riders lost both of their openers cheaply in the power-play. Nicholas Pooran made a composed 52 off 38 balls to anchor the innings before falling to Jason Holder in the final over.

Pollard eventually holed out to long off at the end of the 19th over, his 65 off 29 balls helping his side post a competitive total of 179/6.

Patriots were confident in their response, openers Evin Lewis and Andre Fletcher combining well to put on 96 for the first wicket before Lewis pulled a slower ball from Nathan Edward into the safe hands of Darren Bravo patrolling the leg side fence.

With drizzle in the air the 14th and 15th overs proved crucial as Alick Athanaze fell attempting to reverse ramp Mohammed Amir but serving only to get a toe end of the bat and gift a simple catch to Sunil Narine at short third. That left the Patriots needing 54 off the remaining 30 balls but with Fletcher still set and at the crease.

Not for much longer. Usman Tariq picked up the crucial wicket as Fletcher missed a swipe across the line that saw his leg stump pegged back. He departed for 67 to leave Jason Holder with plenty to do.

Nathan Edward returned in the 17th over to pick up two more wickets with consecutive deliveries to see the back of Kyle Mayers and Jyd Goolie and leave Patriots needing 42 from the last three overs.

Jason Holder was caught in the deep shortly after to all but seal the Patriots fate. Mohammed Amir limped off in the penultimate over with a suspected pulled groin to tarnish the win a little but a sixth win in seven matches marks a dominant first half of the tournament for the Knight Riders as they became the first team to qualify for the play-offs.

Trinbago vs Kings, 20th Match at Tarouba

St Lucia Kings won the toss and elected to field first

Trinbago Knight Riders XI: Alex Hales, Colin Munro, Nicholas Pooran (capt & wk), Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Akeal Hosein, Sunil Narine, Nathan Edwards,Terrance Hinds, Usman Tariq

St Lucia Kings XI:
Tim Seifert (wk), Johnson Charles, Ackeem Auguste, Roston Chase, Tim David, Aaron Jones, David Wiese (capt), Khary Pierre, Delano Potgieter, Alzarri Joseph, Tabraiz Shamsi

Game 20 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Saint Lucia Kings beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 7 wickets with 53 balls remaining. It was an emphatic victory in Tarouba for the Kings over their nearest rivals in the competition, the victory means they are guaranteed a place in this year’s playoffs.

It was a match to forget for the Knight Riders after a five-match winning streak they suffered only their second defeat of the campaign. They lost it with the bat, after being inserted by Kings captain David Wiese they spluttered to just 109 all out, a total that was never going to be defendable.

Tabraiz Shamsi did the damage with his fizzing left arm wrist spin, the South African claimed the Player of the Match award with his 3/12 off four overs ripping the heart out of the Knight Riders vaunted middle order.

Akeal Hosein, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell were all clean bowled by Shamsi, with the first two defeated by a couple of beautiful spinning deliveries that left them bamboozled and the latter aiming a big shot across the line only to miss and have his furniture disrupted.

Tim Seifert continued his blistering form at the top of the order to break the back of the chase inside the powerplay, scoring 36 off 19 deliveries followed by firepower from Ackeem Auguste (28 off 18) and Roston Chase (27 not out from 18) that saw Kings romp to victory in styler and give their net run rate a shot in the arm to boot. Tim David delivered the coup de grace in style by swatting Usman Tariq over cow corner for six to power Saint Lucia Kings to victory and a slot safely secured in the tournament’s latter stages.

Royals vs Amazon, 21st Match at Bridgetown

Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and elected to bowl first

Barbados Royals XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Brandon King, Kadeem Alleyne, Rovman Powell (capt), Sherfane Rutherford, Rassie Van der Dussen, Daniel Sams, Ramon Simmonds, Chris Green, Eathan Bosch, Jomel Warrican

Guyana Amazon Warriors XI: Ben McDermott, Quentin Sampson, Shai Hope (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Moeen Ali, Hassan Khan, Romario Shepherd, Dwaine Pretorius, Gudakesh Motie, Jediah Blades, Imran Tahir (capt)

Game 21 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Barbados Royals by four wickets with two balls remaining.

Both sides were in much need of a victory heading into this evening’s match at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown as only two spots remain in the playoffs. The defeat sees the winless Royals rooted to the foot of the table and in need of a turnaround to keep their season alive

The Warriors won the toss and elected to field first, with wickets shared between their bowling attack they reduced the Royals to 69-5 in the 12th over only for Rovman Powell to blitz 50 off 28 balls with six muscular sixes - and curiously no fours - in his commanding half century.

Powell’s unbeaten effort with the bat at least gave the Royals a target to defend but 165/6 always felt a little light. So it proved, but only just.

Eathan Bosch (3/35) and Ramon Simmonds (2/27) bowled extremely well to keep the Royals in the match but an unbeaten 62 off 29 balls from Shai Hope anchored the chase for the Warriors and saw them get over the line after a couple of short rain delays took the match late into the evening.

Hope was accompanied by Quentin Samson at the end, his 33 off 20 balls provided intelligent batting as the game went down to the wire. His emphatic swipe for six over the on side off Chris Green sealed the match for the Royals with just a couple of deliveries to spare.

Earlier, player of the match Dwaine Pretorious had helped to take a sizeable chunk out of the total with 53 off 34 deliveries with four sixes and two fours. The defeat left the Royals without a victory in their five matches, another bitter pill to swallow in front of their home crowd.

The Warriors move up to fourth place in the CPL table with three games in hand, keeping the pressure on the Falcons and Patriots either side of them in third and fifth.

Royals vs Falcons, 22nd Match at Bridgetown

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won the toss and elected to field first

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons XI: Amir Jangoo, Karima Gore, Andries Gous, Kevin Wickham (wk), Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim (capt), Fabian Allen, Shamar Springer, Obed McCoy, Jayden Seales, Salman Irshad

Barbados Royals XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Brandon King, Rovman Powell (capt), Sherfane Rutherford, Rassie van der dussen, Daniel Sams, Johann Layne, Ramon Simmonds, Chris Green, Eathan Bosch, Jomel Warrican

The Antigua & Barbuda Falcons closed out a thrilling four wicket win over the Barbados Royals to inch closer to a first ever appearance in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) knockout stages. Andries Gous carried his bat to finish on 85 not out as the Falcons claimed victory with two runs from the final ball.

Having won the toss, the Falcons elected to field first and this seemed to have backfired in the opening stages of the Royals’ innings as Brandon King flayed the ball to all parts of the Kensington Oval, much to the delight of the home fans. King was supported by 27 from Quinton de Kock and a quick fire 29 from Sherfane Rutherford.

King missed out on his hundred and ended the innings on 98 not out as he and Chris Green looked for runs rather than a milestone as the Royals set the Falcons 188 to win. The pick of the Falcons bowlers was Salman Irshad who claimed incredible figures of 2/13 off four overs on a very good batting surface.

There was a solid stand from Amir Jangoo and Gous for the Falcons before two quick wickets brought the Royals back into the game. If could have been many more Falcons batters heading back to the Sir Garfield Sobers pavilion, but several dropped catches stopped the Royals from capitalising on the chances they have created.

There were cameos throughout the Falcons innings but nothing else as substantial as Gous’ innings. But he wasn’t on strike at the end with two needed from the last ball. Shamar Springer was the one given that responsibility and he hit the ball down the ground as the Falcons pair scrambled back for a second to leave the Royals still without their first win this season.

Game 23 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Trinbago Knight Riders by three wickets with one ball remaining.

It was another last over thriller in Providence as both sides looked to sure up qualification for the playoffs, in the end the teams could barely be separated but Dwaine Pretorious and Gudakesh Motie scored the nine runs needed off the final over to secure the win for Warriors in front of their home crowd.

Pretorious was named the player of the match for his unbeaten 26 that included a towering and crucial six off Kieron Pollard in the final over after smalling consecutive maximums off Andre Russell at the end of the 18th over to tilt the match towards the Warriors. The all-rounder also claimed 1/26 with the ball to cap off a clutch performance

Imran Tahir won the toss and elected to field first, the Warriors using a total of seven bowlers in their twenty overs as they sought to restrict the Knight Riders firepower. Kieron Pollard could not be contained though, blasting 54 off 18 deliveries with five fours and five sixes. Critical runs that saw a total of 167/5 to set up a tantalizing Warriors chase.

Shai Hope (53) notched another fifty in a fruitful partnership with Shimron Hetmyer (49) before Sunil Narine removed both in quick succession to keep the Knight Riders hopes alive but Pretorius’ cameo with the bat proved the difference in the end.

Amazon vs Falcons, 26th Match at Providence

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won the toss and elected to field first

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons XI: Amir Jangoo, Karima Gore, Andries Gous, Kevin Wickham (wk), Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim (capt), Fabian Allen, Shamar Springer, Usama Mir, Jayden Seales, Salman Irshad

Guyana Amazon Warriors XI:
Ben McDermott, Shai Hope (wk), Moeen Ali, Shimron Hetmyer, Hassan Ali, Dwaine Pretorius, Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul, Quentin Sampson, Gudakesh Motie, Imran Tahir (capt)

Game 26 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw Antigua & Barbuda Falcons beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by 4 wickets with five balls remaining in a low scoring thriller in Providence Stadium.

With both sides sitting mid-table and with playoff places up for grabs this was always going to be a crucial fixture. The win means the Falcons secured their first playoff in the CPL after their debut tournament last year.

Imad Wasim’s side sit on 11 points from their ten matched whilst the warriors are on eight from eight and their fate remains undecided but in their own hands.

Wasim won the toss and the Falcons elected to field first, Player of the Match Jayden Seales picking up 4/15 and Usama Mir 3/17 as they skittled the Warriors for just 99 runs. On paper it looked like a straightforward chase but in fact it turned out to be anything but. A nerve-shredding reply then ensued.

Amir Jangoo anchored the innings from the top of the order for the Falcons, as wickets fell all around him. He repelled and capitalised on anything loose to score a match-winning 51off 57 balls, carrying his bat in the process.

With Imran Tahir and Moeen Ali spinning wickets out and restricting run-scoring, the chase was a nervy one. The Falcons recovered from 24/4 in the power-play as captain Wasim compiled 16 off 24 balls before being run out and Fabian Allen chipped in with 15 off 14 to see the visitors get over the line and secure a much-heralded play-off spot.

"I feel really good. I had a good tournament leading up to this, and I understood what I needed to do tonight, which was just to come out and execute the plan. Wickets in the Powerplay are always important, especially against Guyana,” said Seales after the victory. “We know they bat very deep, so the more we break into their batting, the more we keep chipping away at the wickets. It obviously worked well for us,” said Seales who got a fitting 24th birthday gift.

The Warriors, Patriots and Royals will battle it out for the final place in the 2025 CPL play-offs as the tournament heads towards its conclusion.

A brilliant all-round display from Jason Holder against the Barbados Royals kept the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the hunt for a spot in the 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League playoffs. Holder made his second half century of the tournament before taking 2/32 with the ball as the Patriots won by one run in a thrilling encounter at Kensington Oval.

The Royals won the toss and chose to bowl and the Patriots got off to a decent start thanks to an opening stand of 46 between Mohammad Rizwan and Andre Fletcher. When Fletcher and Evin Lewis departed in the space of three balls it pegged the Patriots back and Rizwan found scoring more difficult. He attempted a number of dabs and sweeps before he was caught on the boundary looking to release the pressure.

Having been 46 without loss the Patriots stumbled to 74/5 as Chris Green kept things tight for the Royals. It was from there that the Holder masterclass took hold of this match as he made an unbeaten 53 as he and Navin Bidaisee put on 74 for the sixth wicket to give the Patriots a defendable total.

It was a steady start from the Royals when their innings got underway with Quintin de Kock and Brandon King put on 42 for the first wicket. Some very tidy bowling from the Patriots spinners kept the Royals from ever really getting on top in the chase with both Waqar Salamkheil and Bidaisee both going at around a run a ball from their four overs. With the two also sharing the wickets of the Royals openers a topsy turvy game swung back towards the Patriots.

Sherfane Rutherford and Rassie van der Dussen both made decent starts with the latter finishing undefeated on 37 but regular wickets meant the Royals were always fighting to stay in the game.

Come the final over it was Holder who game himself the responsibility of defending 14 to win the game. Van der Dussen smacked the first ball for six but Holder held his nerve as the Patriots ran out winners by a single run.

The Royals are now eliminated from the tournament despite having one match left to play. The Patriots can make it to the knockout stages if Guyana Amazon Warriors lose both of their final two group stage matches by a wide enough margin for the Net Run Rate calculations to favour the Patriots.

Trinbago vs Royals, 28th Match at Bridgetown

Barbados Royals have won the toss and decided to bowl

Barbados Royals: Powell (c), de Kock (wk), Parris, Alleyne, Van der Dussen, Rutherford, Green, Sams, Motara, E Bosch, Simmonds

Trinbago Knight Riders: Pooran (c & wk), Munro, Hales, Carty, Pollard, Russell, Da Silva, Hosein, Narine, Usman Tariq, Netravalkar

Game 28 of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw the bowling of Kieron Pollard blasted into the stands for four sixes in one over, three of the maximums struck from the blade of Sherfane Rutherford and one by Rovman Powell. The emphatic batting sealed a thrilling victory for Barbados Royals over Trinbago Knight Riders in front of a delirious home crowd in Bridgetown.

The Royals are still rooted to the bottom of the CPL table on five points with two wins in this year’s competition but it was a statement victory for Rovman Powell’s outfit, the Royals skipper accompanying Rutherford at the end to pull off the win by seven wickets with an over to spare.

Powell won the toss and elected to field first with rain around in Bridgetown, Chris Green was the star bowler with 3/9 in an opening spell that saw the back of both Knight Riders openers Colin Munro and Alex Hales.

Knight Riders were struggling at 41-4 in the eighth over before a salvage job with the bat from captain Nicholas Pooran (45 off 44) and Kieron Pollard (36 off 25) saw them post 166/8 off their 20 overs.

Quinton de Kock and Kadeem Alleyne gave the Royals the perfect start in response, de Kock smiting 55 off 25 balls with three sixes and three fours to post a half century whilst Alleyne followed in the South African’s slipstream with 36 off 27.

The opening stand of 87 saw a chunk taken out of the target before Rutherford and Rovman Powell’s pyrotechnics sealed the deal after a slight stutter thanks to miserly bowling from Sunil Narine and Usman Tariq.

Green was named player of the match for his decisive wickets. “We showcased what we can do. It's a little bittersweet but it feels great to reward the fans. I've enjoyed the banter, the support...the whole vibe has been fantastic. I absolutely loved it and can't wait to be back.”

The Knight Riders lick their wounds before heading into a huge final week whilst for the Barbados Royals it was a win that showed what might’ve been in this year’s competition.

GUY defeat BR in final group stage match

The final group game of the 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw the Guyana Amazon Warriors emphatically defeat the Barbados Royals to secure a spot in Wednesday’s Qualifier 1 where they will face the Saint Lucia Kings. Given that finishing in the top two gives the Kings and Warriors two chances to reach the final, this was a crucial victory for the Guyanese-based side.

Tuesday’s Eliminator will see the Trinbago Knight Riders take on the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. The winner of that match will take on the loser of the game between the Kings and the Warriors.

The Warriors win in this game was set up by another excellent half century from Quentin Sampson who has ended the questions over who should be batting at the top of the order for his side. Shimron Hetmyer top scored for the Warriors with 68 from 39 balls as he and Sampson helped their side to a match winning 189/6.

With a classy 31 from Shai Hope and some lusty blows at the end of the innings from Romario Shepherd the total proved to be two much for a Royals side who finish this year’s CPL at the bottom of the table.

When the Royals came out to bat it was vital that they had a solid start but three wickets inside the Power-Play meant that their chase never really got started. The early damage was done by Dwaine Pretorius and Shamar Joseph, the latter bowling Rassie van der Dussen with a firebolt that uprooted his off stump.

With the pressure on the middle order to rebuild and stay up with the rate the pressure became too much for the Royals who crumbled at the death to Gudakesh Motie’s spin as he took a career best 5/21 with Kofi James’ quick fire 26 the only real highlight of their chase.

The focus will now be on the CPL playoffs which get underway on Tuesday.

The Trinbago Knight Riders kept their Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League campaign alive with a nine wicket win over the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in the Eliminator match.

The Falcons had a brilliant partnership of 108 between Andries Gous and Amir Jangoo but a late flurry of wickets saw the Knight Riders keep them to a total they could chase. The stars for the Trinidadian franchise were Nicholas Pooran and Alex Hales who both made fifties as the Knight Riders won with relative ease.

In the Falcons innings, Jangoo and Gous both fell within the space of two balls shortly after passing their fifties. Both batters fell to the bowling of Usman Tariq who was once again miserly with his bowling, claiming 2/19 off his four overs. The Falcons went from 129/1 with four overs to go to 161/8 at the end of their innings as Saurabh Netravalkar and Andre Russell picked up wickets at the death.

The Falcons would have been disappointed to not post a bigger target given the platform they had set. However, when Colin Munro, the Knight Riders leading run scorer going into this match, fell early to the bowling of Rahkeem Cornwall there was hope that they could claim victory. But from the point of the Munro wicket to the end of the match it was the Hales and Pooran show as the two made light work of the Falcons total.

No Falcons bowler found a way to keep the scoring under control by the halfway stage of the chase the equation had come down to just over a run a ball needed. With the pressure of the big game fading Hales and Pooran controlled the chase brilliantly to keep their dreams of a first CPL title since 2020 alive.

Pooran finished on 90 and Hales on 54 with both batters not out at the end of the innings in an unbroken second wicket partnership worth 143. These two players showing this sort of form as the knockout stages gets underway is a real boost for the Knight Riders who came into this game in the back of three consecutive losses.

This loss means the Falcons will head home having made the knockout stages for the first time in their history. The Knight Riders will now face the loser of the Qualifier 1 match between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Saint Lucia Kings which takes place at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence on Wednesday night.
