They will show up for a cricket game whether its a weekend or weekday, day or night, Test or T20, evening raining or not.

Housefull everytime and this time the tickets were expensive.

They are making noise, cheering and backing both teams.

Surely the best crowd no?

Yes, they are a lively bunch, even at 11 degrees loll -- you can feel the energy from TV

It's a small ground so that's why it looks full even with fewer people. I think Multan is having the best crowd this season.

Let me guess, OP must be either from Islamabad or Rawalpindi? There is always biasness in his posts.

Anyways, the pindi crowd is good, so is the crowd in Multan and other cities. It's all Pakistan, if a ground get's more people in there are probably many factors behind that.

Yup people in Pindi always come out in droves. Its Karachi and Lahore that don't seem to value it very much. Lahore gets good crowds for PSL. But it was downright depressing to see the turnout for the Australia test in 2022. Multan has good crowds too and I'm sure Peshawar would have packed houses aswell if there were matches there.

PCB needs to do alot to upgrade stadium infrastructure in smaller cities.

pindi people are generally better quality, good dry humour, banter, not sensitive with insecurities of the bigger city dwellers. :akhtar

Easily. I recently went back to Lahore for a few weeks from Sydney, and I was suprised to find out that the whole Lahori culture is not what it's hyped up to be.

People from pindi tend to display more excitement then People from lahore.

This goes not only for cricket but also for wedding celebrations, eid celebrations, new year celebrations etc.

Pindi people are extremely eccentric and fun loving.

Although Lahori culture is still good especially in terms of food.

It felt a lot better to watch today's match. In Rawalpindi the crowd is very much near the action so they create a better atmosphere but in Lahore or Karachi they crowd is a few meters away from the boundary so they can't get the same kind of feel and they failed to create an atmosphere like Rawalpindi. I still remember the ODI match in Rawalpindi between Pakistan and India during the Samsung Cup in 2004 where the crowd made a great atmosphere and we could actually feel that atmosphere in our home while watching the match on TV.

I think in the last leg of PSL Karachi will surely attract the maximum crowd. But yeah until now Rawalpindi and Multan have shown better crowd attendance.

Houseful in Rawalpindi for the 2nd T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand. Thankfully, matches are not in Karachi.

Mohammad Amir speaking during the Pakistan vs New Zealand T20I post-match presser regarding the Rawalpindi Ground:

“Today, I made a request to Wahab Riaz to expand the Rawalpindi Ground. We have observed that the crowd in Pindi has never disappointed us, regardless of whether it’s a domestic match, a PSL match, or an international one. Everyone is discussing how New Zealand’s team is somewhat weak as their key players didn’t come. Yet, despite this, the stadium in Rawalpindi was packed to capacity. Therefore, no matter how much credit we give to the Pindi crowd, it will always be less.

Pindi always doin us proud. Islamabad/Pindi is the best place in Pakistan by far

One of the worst venues in world cricket.

This and that fruity Afnan Niaz Stadium they have made in Peshawar. Not even a 1* venue

Pindi has been amazing recently. Massive respect to the pindi crowd.

But let me tell you, have cricket in Faisalabad and there will be an atmosphere that is unmatched in cricket.

The PCB needs to try and develop Faisalabad stadium too. Maybe have an attached 5 star hotel to minimise travelling for foreign teams.

Yes faisalabad would also have similar or more numbers.

I think issue there is with lodging

There is no afnan stadium in pakistan.

Pindi stadium is one of the best stadiums of pakistan, especially because its simple and small and allows you to view the game and the batter very easily.

Anyways, its not like you ever been to this stadium

What’s that kids playground in Peshawar called? Arbaz Salman Khan stadium?

Again no such stadium exists.

The new stadium of Peshawar is yet to host a game, so again, how are making judgements when no game has been hosted in the new stadium?

I have, it's a good venue for viewing, not a good venue for a game of cricket though. Theirs no balance between bat and ball, these belter pitches are lame. Although some pitches around the world are also belter pitches so it's not only Pakistan's issue.

But for viewing purposes I can understand why the crows visits their the most

The new peshawar stadium has not hosted any international or psl game.

So plz dont make up stuff

The new Peshawar stadium has hosted games? That's news to me. This is about the crowd and pindi has the best.

Pindi cricket stadium is leagues ahead of any stadium in Pakistan. No wonder the crowd always turns up.

And a cheeky pulao from Savour on the way back is icing on the cake.

Pindi is a Bhindi stadium

How could this be an international standard stadium? Maybe in the 1970s Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto times

Pakistani stadiums are pathetic and that includes Pindi. They were made 40 years ago and haven't seen any kind of major renovation in decades. Getting in and out is hell and once you actually do its a bad experience. The snacks are bad, the seats are bad, you can't see jacks!t unless you spent 6k to get the gallery seats and even there they just put wedding chairs. PCB is getting far more revenue from ICC than before. But their lack of investment in improving stadiums is shocking to say the least. I have lost any kind of desire to go back to Pindi stadium after my last few experiences of watching matches there.

Comfortably. Karachi should be stripped of hosting games. The worst crowd by far.
I'm annoyed at Karachi too but before stripping it of the status they should work out why karachiite are so disinterested in cricket.

PCB should do some focus groups to understand why Pindi is jumping and Karachi is dead.

those wedding chairs are better than the fixed plastic chairs

Even after not having a good infrastructure at the stadium Rawalpindi still manages to attract a very good crowd compared to other major cities.

Probably charge 40 rupees per match, that’s what the ticket fees should be here. It’s worth one rupee per over

haha no, actually Savor foods is just around the corner of that stadium which attracts pindiwal more than a cricket.

Apparently, Lahoris have gathered in good numbers for the 4th T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan. But, they still can't match the energetic crowd of Rawalpindi.

As per reports, the opening ceremony of PSL 10 will reportedly take place at Pindi Stadium, and the defending champions Islamabad United will face off against Peshawar Zalmi in the opening match.

Well deserved. Crowds should be rewarded for consistently showing up in sold out numbers.

Actually it's a very small ground so even with a small crowd, it looks overfilled and energetic.

I rate Multan's crowd one of the best in Pakistan!

Did anyone else see the video of the groundsmen cutting the grass with their hands and scissors in the Peshawar stadium?

They’ve got the $100k bonuses for the players but no money for a lawnmower.

The Arbab Niaz Stadium is owned by the government of KPK and therefore they own all the employees there. The PCB has requested the KPK government to hand over the stadium to them many times but the KPK PTI led govt refuses under the pre-text this is our property.

I think PCB has made the right decision to hold the opening ceremony in Pindi. The best crowd is always in Pindi even though it is not as big as Karachi or Multan but you will see a full house and also people standing outside the stadium there. Let's goo PCB.

Why couldn’t they get it done when the caretaker government was set up in KP?

If only, the pitches were more sporting as they should be historically for fast bowlers.

But then a certain flat track bully wouldn’t be able to pile up the runs :bobs

If I was in Rawalpindi, I would have definitely been going there. It is going to be electrifying with all the fans wanting to see Pakistan win and making noise at every run Pakistan scores and every wicket Pakistan takes against India.

Reminds me of the stadium/cricket club in Bradford with the mosque view.

Naa man. I prefer to watch cricket alone at home. Watching with people means every idiot giving captaincy advice. Dont need that
Which is why you seek it on PP. xD that defeats the purpose of avoiding getting captaincy advice

Na here, you dont have people speaking after evey ball. Its only when i refresh :p

Im not a guy who can watch cricket with people. Most of these crowds or group watching is done by seasonal fans

The Valima party known as a Test match in Pindi

Difference being, in a wedding, at least you have people sitting on those wedding seats!

Can't blame the fans for not wanting to come out in this sweltering heat. There is almost zero shade on any of the cheap seats.

August is an awful time to hold a test series in Pakistan.

Seriously where does PCB's money go to?

It's the fourth richest board after the Big3 and this is the state of their stadiums? I'm not even sure we can call them stadiums as these look like some tier-4 department club grounds in India with those concrete steps as stands.

Leave aside India..Colombo, Pallekele, Dhaka and Chittagong all have much superior stadiums than any in Pakistan.

My native place , a tier 4 city ,is one of the most driest places in india.its cricket ground is much greener and better than pindi.pindi is really an embarrassing stadium for pak fans.pindi will kill any enthusiastic kid with its atrocious 90s desi old style facilities

I will never forget the 1st ODI of the historic 2004 series where Pakistan almost chased down 350 vs us.

One of the greatest ODIs ever played and the crowd was incredibly supportive.

Pakistanis love it be Bharatiyas because we live in their hearts in a special place, them being the son of the soil just like us making us cousins.

In Multan they used fans to create cracks on thr pitch.

In pindi they are using a different technique. 6 commercial gas heaters have been placed with two industrial fans blowing the hot air on to the pitch.

Pindi is one of the flattest wickets, and if this technique makes the pitch a spinners paradise, this should down in the cricket pitch preparation books.

They are literally baking that flat pitch as we speak

In Multan fans were used to dry up the pitch '' early '' as it had been watered after the 1st game got over .
During MSD's captaincy , he would ask the curator to make a normal pitch except that spinners length was watered just 25% as compared to rest of the pitch . Once the curator used '' tagari's filled with hot coal '' placed on a 2 feet high stand running across width of the pitch kept for couple of hours on spinners length !

People who watch cricket under the baking sun without any shade are surely the best crowd in Pakistan.
