A family accused of masquerading as Afghans to illegally claim asylum in the UK are living in a £575,000 luxury house in an exclusive Home Counties commuter town having cost the taxpayer £160,000 over the past year, MailOnline can reveal today.

Gurbakhsh Singh, 72, his wife Ardet Kaur, 68, their son Guljeet Singh, 43, and his wife Kawaljeet Kaur, 37, all appeared on bail at Croydon Magistrates Court earlier this month.

The Singh Kaurs are said to have made the claim of being from the Taliban-led country when they arrived at Heathrow Airport just before Christmas last year.

But they have been accused of twice having failed to obtain visas to come to Britain as Indian citizens earlier in 2023.

They appeared in court for the first time earlier this month. During the hearing they were provided with both Dari and Punjabi interpreters.

Until recently they were living at Wembley's Holiday Inn in north London, which has been completely booked by the Home Office for asylum seekers and is currently not accepting any customers.

But they are now all residing together in a new home in Hemel Hempstead, where they have all been ordered to remain as a condition of bail.

The 1,136 sq ft property, which has four bedrooms, an open plan ground floor and with 'luxurious' fitted kitchen with top-end appliances, was put up for sale for £575,000 in March 2023. It was sold in 2022 for £467,000, according to the Land Registry.

2024 is not the year for Indians. I see trending posts on my twitter and reddit feeds that often are projecting anti indian sentiments particularly against indian immigrants. I sometimes feel sympathy for them because majority of Indians are just poor hardworking people who just want to provide a good life for their families and kids. The problem with India is it's sheer population size coupled with lack of social and educational standards. Indians have easy access to the western world compared to the people from other poor countries due to relaxed visa policies etc and even though they moved here to raise their kids doesn't mean that mindset has been erased. It just means they are in a new country and they are trying to navigate a new place with the old mindset. You will be suprised at the level of corruption here in Canada. The high level government officials are complicit in the human trafficking saga that has been going on for years and only now flipping it arround when it became impossible to defend their positions and when most Canadians turned against liberals. as a born and raised Londoner, these are my concerns:

1. i think in the digital connected age its impossible to have any form of cultural middle ground. you have immigrants who come over and have no need to interact or assimilate with the host population. i remember as a kid interacting with black kids, turks, middle eastern, white, Chinese, everything, now i see pakistanis who came over five or ten years ago and still speak broken English, with a culturally homogenous friendship group, there is literally zero demand on even speaking English properly. the darker side of this is when you bring your cultural hang ups with you, the amount of times ive heard desis saying materially misogynistic and derogatory things towards women in the workplace is crazy, and clearly a result of socialising in ethnically homogenous groups. the younger generation are somewhat better, but its still an issue.

2. this will offend people, but the largest group of immigrants to the UK is indians, and as an ethnic Pakistani, this is a huge problem. Indians tend stick to their own groups. There are exceptions, but in general first gen indians, to put it mildly, only hire indians, and if your a Pakistani, absolutely no chance. this is not just my experience, every non indian professional i know has at some point hit a brick wall dealing with an indian superior or hiring manager. they simply want their own people, because they exploit a culture of seniority, privilege, and patronage at the end of a giant work visa stick. building on point 1, first gen desi immigrants invariably have inferior communication skills, which makes working for them even harder. second gen indians are better in this regard, but that's cos they were forced to assimilate as kids.

3. high levels of immigration without any cultural assimilation breeds massive populist resentment, which results in extreme political views becoming mainstream making life harder for everyone. i am pretty sure reform are gonna win a lot of seats in the next election, and that is not good for the UK long term.

Unless someone is from warzone or their life is in imminent danger, they should not be given asylum. But proving the case is extremely difficult. Most of these situations are extremely subjective. I can understand Afghans or Syrians seeking asylum. But Indian Punjabis saying that their life is in danger is laugh worthy. They are clear economic migrants who are using the lapse laws of Canada and UK to live western life. The Sikh family posing as Afghans clearly shows that they were trafficked by mafia into UK. They cannot simply walk all the way to UK. They just show up in a boat and UK border forces or Navy simply taken them in houses them in hotels. There is a documentary on it on Youtube. Its all a scam.

Indian govt has been rejecting British aid if you believe what many Indian posters have said. If they don't need charity, then clearly India is not some war torn country on the brink of starvation. There is no legitimate reason for Indians to seek asylum in the UK, neither should they need economic refuge. India is the emerging economy, should be the perfect place for Indians to make money rather than flee to the floundering UK.

Politicians say stuff to rally their country men and bring in Euphoria. Its no different to every country or civilization claiming that theirs was the best and should rule the world.

India is on track to become super power by 2050. At minimum 2040. Anyone who tells otherwise is either lying or brainwashed or simply ultra nationalistic.

The countries that invest in AI will rule the future world. I don't know how much India is investing in it, but US and China are miles ahead of countries like India in AI. The countries that have not investing anything in it will be serving their future AI masters. Everything is fought through AI and Robots. It is still 2 or 3 decades away, but when reality hits, it will not be pretty for weak underdeveloped nations.
