Cant question his extraordinary height but all will depend whether he can ball good enough. There was another guy Shaoor Ahmed who is 6ft 8 and he hasnt made it to domestic setup yet, i think he got injured but he is still young though.

This 7'4 guy is a spinner. Saw an interview of his where he was saying that he wasn't really into cricket much but came to the trials. LQ were impressed by his height and they said they will 'make him into a pacer'. Don't have many expectations...

Shaoor is stuck with club cricket for the time being. Pathway to the next level isn't very clear for him because he isn't young enough to feature in U19 or similar cricket.

WOW!! But being that tall does have the huge disadvantage of being injury prone and also being a pretty bad fielder:irfan

How old is he? Let's hope he is young and can bowl at good pace, has good fitness and has a decent brain.

Thanks for the info. Yes I agree if Mudassar isnt even into cricket much and balls spin than we cant expect much here in one year unless something extreme happens.

For Shaoor I think pathway is to get selected to represent one of the city associations first and perform there to get in radar for regional squads, wont be easy though as there will be a whole lot of competition amongst players in city associations once the structure is fully operational.

Another Gimmick Like Yasir Jan?

Any advantage for a spinner being 7 foot 5 inches? He is even taller than Irfan

It’s better that he’s a spinner, that’s probably the only role he could fulfill without breaking down every two games. We don’t have the fittest athletes, and with the toll fast bowling already takes on the body, he’d have a p short career at that height. Can’t rule out the fact that our idiot coaches run bowlers to the ground and even play them when injured.

Shabash beta, spinner hi ban kay dikha.

If he can spin the ball then he has a chance but he will have problems with flight( its very difficult to get the ball up and down)but on the other hand he will obviously get bounce

Not sure if this is an urban legend or true but when Joel garner was asked about how he was such s good fielder despite being so tall, he fielded in the gully, he said tall frame, long arms

LQ saying they are keen to turn him into a pacer.

LQ saying they are keen to turn him into a pacer.

If he is a natural athlete, that would be great if not then I hope they have spoken to some medical experts about this.

He should be turned into a big hitting batsman, that bowls spin.

Only way he will avoid being injury prone and he can play leagues around the world, so he can make lots of money and it is easier to develop his batting skills than turning him into a bowler.

I hope he is a healthy and very tall lad and his extra ordinary height is not due to any endocrine abnormality as we don’t have that tall persons in this part of the world . Yes we had Alam Channa , the tallest in the world then but his height was due to acromegaly.

I hope it's not another Yasir Jan type scenario.

One has to question whether such extraordinary long people can even play Cricket for long. A lot was invested in Irfan but he could never develop the fitness or strength which would have enabled him to play cricket for long or develop an elastic body

I hope they set the young lad realistic expectations, so that if things dont work out his life doesn't come crashing to the ground.

He does not look athletic from those pics but the advantage is that he is young. Needs a year to focus primarily on his fitness, strengthen the legs, good core, lose weight to reduce strain etc....

Then perfect his bowling before thinking of being a serious prospect. Stanlake is given the feather-glove treatment by Australian cricket and despite that he's injury prone. Stanlake is only 6"8!

Fitness must be primary motive right now, because even if they fix his bowling he'll spend more time as a fielder than as a bowler. Having a giant frame has it's advantages, but in most circumstances is far outweighed by disadvantages. Hopefully smart people will help with the boy's future.

Is he even a cricketer, or have they just found some lambu and made him into a spinner?

He said he didn't have much interest before but now he's going to try and learn 'fast-bowling'...

They didn't even really watch him in action, he was picked by LQ because of his height.

What's happened to him?

They hyped him up way too much and it turned out he was barely a club-level pace bowler, unfortunately.

He went to Australia last month to play club cricket, hopefully he can succeed at some level. Feel sorry for him.

Oh well, at least he got a long holiday to Australia out of it.

He'd fit right in with our crop then.

So wait. A guy is 7.4. says himself he's not that into cricket but came to trial. Bowls spin and now LQ will turn him into a pacer?

Are we sure he's the best guy LQ should give attention too?

At least LQ are developing a brand. A brand of finding cricketers with a gimmick that sounds too good to be true.

Lol, seems like they just found this exceptionally tall guy , dressed him in the team shirt and are parading him in front of cameras.

Giant who stands 7ft 6ins tall and was bullied at school after growing to more than 6ft by the age of TEN is now training to become the world's tallest cricketer

A giant man who stands 7ft 6ins tall and was bullied at school after growing to more than 6ft by the age of ten is now training to become the world's tallest cricketer.

Mudassir Gujjar, 21, has already been picked up by his local cricket team the Lahore Qalandars and hopes to play on the world stage for Pakistan one day.

The youngest of four siblings - three brothers and one sister - Mudassir was born to average height parents, father Hashim Mohammad and mother Parveen.

Hashim is 5ft 6ins and Parveen is 5ft 3ins, and while they were happy with their son's height as a child - he stood tallest in the class - they sensed trouble when he reached 6ft before he left primary school.

By the time he was in high school, Mudassir, from Lahore, Pakistan, was over seven-foot-tall.

'I was the tallest child in the school and in the neighbourhood,' he said. 'I was already six-foot-tall when I was ten and by the time I was in high school, I was above seven-feet-tall.

'My parents were worried as I kept growing. They were not able to understand why I was growing taller than my siblings and if it will later cause any troubles for me.

In 2017, Mudassir's parents took him to several doctors in Lahore and Karachi. The doctors assured them that Mudassir has a hormonal condition that makes him taller than the average person.

'The doctors said I have a hormonal condition but they couldn't tell if I will grow more than 7 feet tall! The last time I checked my height was a year and half ago and I was 7'6 since then. I have not grown [taller] since.'

Because of his unusual height, Mudassir faced bullying by his peers and had trouble going to school.

'My childhood was normal but I was bullied by children in school. I was often name called,' he recalled.

'I also had troubles going to school as I couldn't sit comfortably in the peddle rickshaw and bus. I was very tall and my legs hurt. It was difficult.'

Mudassir cannot wear clothes off-the-shelf and has to have buy specially customised shoes. His shoe size is 23.5 in the UK and his trouser length is 54 centimetres

'I do not get the right size of shoes! I have to get them customised and for the clothes, I have to buy fabric and then get them stitched,' he said.

His exceptional height also means he cannot drive either, although he manages to ride a motorcycle.

'I face troubles sitting in a car because there is not enough room to keep my legs. Driving is out of question.'

Despite the limitations, Mudassir is delighted as his height has already brought him national attention.

'People now meet me with a smile, they are in awe of me. It makes me feel good. I feel special.

'I may have trouble doing things like a normal person but my height is God's gift and I am thankful to him. I am popular and I enjoy the attention.'

After finishing his schooling, Mudassir decided to try his luck in cricket, the most popular sport in the subcontinent.

'My height is a blessing as I can run faster and be the fastest bowler,' he said.

He is now training for the Pakistan Super League and was roped in by the Lahore Qalandars team, and hopes to make it to the national team one day and be the world's tallest cricketer.

I wish him well but I fear LQ have used him as a PR stunt of their own.

Getting the ball up and down will be a real problem, on the other hand he might get a little bit of "extra" bounce

He should play Basket ball. Too tall for cricket and will be a liability in the field.

He used to be a spinner until last year...

Why cant we find a regular normal trained fit 6 foot 2 inch right hand fast bowler?

Being abnormally tall is not enough. How quick does he ball? Does he do something with the ball? Does he have a strong action which allows him to bowl a heavy ball back of a length? Can he stay injury free?

No clips of him bowling yet.

I hope it's not another gimmick.

2 years is enough time. What happened to him?
