They should’ve waited for the main man Shafiq to get his 50 tomorrow before they cut the cake!!

Seriously? Stop with these pathetic celebrations. Win the damn test, first!

Captain, who is basically a puppet specialist captain, nowhere in the picture.

Fawad chumming up with Babar, smart guy. ;)

I get that these are new players so there’s reason to celebrate.

But on a normal occasion, the only time they should be celebrating like that is after a win.

Anything less then a win is not worth a celebration.

Lol why?? Why are they celebrating personal milestones when there is a match to win.

True.

Also, why are these players having cake during on-season? What all happened to that fitness talk by the great coach?

You're acting as if eating a piece of cake will undo all work one has been doing for a month. Diet doesn't work like that.

just goes to show where we stand as cricket team now, pre 2010s we wouldn't have celebrated these individual feats if the main objective which is winning the damn match and series isn't achieved, these softies need to set higher standards or else we will see cake cutting on the ground itself after every useless personal milestone.

Birthday happens once a year, you cut a cake

Wedding anniversary happens once a year, you cut a cake

Good performance happens once a year, you cut a cake

So, nothing wrong in it. These moments(decent outing with the bat) won’t come come for another year or so.

This cake nonsense needs to stop. Players need to win games, not stupid tea and cake mid games.

Well, this is the only thing worth celebrating for a team ranked no. 8 - pathetic!

For crying out loud, the match isn't over.

It's so upsetting to see such a weak mentality within our camp.

Are Pakistan getting sponsored by a cake company.

Started seeing alot of cakes being cut.

Consecutive centuries for Abid in first two Test matches? No problem it's a piece of cake.

Azhars got a 50, are people going to throw some sort of victory parade aswell after these cakes?

Agree. Not only Abid, Shan and Shaheen deserve cake too. Also context is important. Shafiq cut a cake in Oz coz that was a BIG deal for Pakistan with its embarrassing history in Australia. Doesn't matter if they lost, again.

Similarly people forget that Pakistan is rn 8th ranked! This is a big deal - hope, positivity, whatever you want to call it. I'm sure if Mushfiqur makes a century in the next game, even the Bangladesh team will cut a cake or celebrate in some way.

This is minnow mentality. Could not imagine this kind of thing happening 10 years ago.

Classic misbah minow mentality...

We havent even won the match yet these celebrations are already starting to begin.

Ridiculous. Personal milestones should be put aside to win the match.

They are minnows, #8.
Standards are very low of what to celebrate. For the Pakistan Cricket Team, with its incredibly rich history of talent and achievements, to be celebrating centuries and 5-wicket haul in the middle of a random match by having a cake-cutting is laughable and pathetic

Lol This is so Misbah like. No wonder we are number 8.

Misbah is an elder brother-like figure who is uniting the players. Look at Harris Sohail who may not have scored any runs and lost his opportunity to come back in the second innings but still looks elated for his team mates.

Also it was Misbah under who Pakistan became number 1. Arthur led to the downfall.

So you think eating a cake during a match to celebrate a milestone is something that will help the boys? I wish we were like Australia who worried more about winning matches than personal milestones. We don’t even know if this match will end in a draw or a win. So stuff like this during a match is unprofessional.

Choti choti khushiyan look at our standard now. After months of terrible performance, one good day and cake is out.

Shaheen could be Misbah's son (age wise) and you're calling him the elder brother like figure lol

Precisely.

I remember when cake was also given to the players during Misbah's captaincy on numerous occasions, as he felt it was a good idea to reward players after a 5fer or a ton was scored regardless of the team result.

The most notable example of this was during the 2016 test match at the Gabba after Asad Shafiq's useless ton during a losing cause.

Misbah's idea of rewarding players for a 5fer or a ton epitomises the small team mentality under his leadership.

I have always been against these type of celebrations.

This makes the team accept mediocrity.

How can you celebrate a loss? Misbah literally instilled a losers mentality in the team when he was captain.

We just started to change our odi culture. Tests wouldve turned around eventually aswell, we were a young team with no quality bowlers plus an over weight captain.

Stuck with 2 experianced losers as our batting leads. One cripple, pcb mis handling of health is well documented.

And one up and coming batting superstar.

Team just needed time and new faces. Faces who dont have the misbah minow mentality.

Now we are back were we started to with with inept coaches. Misbah and waqar will ruin the teams mentality.

Need babar to turn into an alpha and bring a new culture within the team. Although i dont think he will.

Hes not kholi and we shouldnt expect him to become like him.

Don't have a problem. 2nd highest opening partnership ever by a Pakistani, and Shaheen. Abid hit two centuries in a row. It brings together the team to enjoy things like this and on behalf of fellow team mates. It looks rather a small cake and yet they are sharing it between 20 or so of them, so I doubt it will make them fat.

In fact if you're on a strict diet, good to have these sort of things at it motivates you to perform. Heard how Smith for example rewards himself with a chocolate bar after hitting a hundred.

My big concerns is players having unhealthy foods consistently outside of special occasions. Eating curries and fast food regularly. The odd big milestone, I don't really care. It is quite special, I honestly can not remember the last time we've had such a big opening partnership and in the 2nd innings too, it rather surprised me lol given our success with openers.

I remember the days when Pakistan would win matches from the brink of defeat and there wouldn't be any sign of cake, back-slapping etc. Because you were expected to win as you were playing for your country.

Agreed! This is really really pathetic

Boys want cake and they want to eat it together. Chill out guys.

Nothing wrong with celebrating a fine day at the office , glad they're doing it. With day three's performance they have saved the match, they can;t lose it now. There was good possibility pf losing it when they conceded 88 runs lead. Next target, winning the test.

Very disappointing with negative comments here, some people needs a life.

Do you cut a day at home after a successful day at the office?

Waqar kept his legendary status intact by not being there :riaz. Babar must be embarrassed of his shoday friends/colleagues.:ba

At the end of the day, they are just cutting a cake in the middle of a game they are dominating. But goddamnnit this feels so pathetic.

They should have blood on their minds. 100% focused on mopping the floor with the opposition. Not cutting cakes and celebrating token milestones...

What Musa is doing there ?
Misbah pretended to drop Musa and Iftikhar after their outrageous inadequacy in Australia, but they are still there.

It’s like the Fawad “selection”: publicity stunts aimed to mislead the public about what Misbah is really doing.

Like most have said The standards and mentality need to be a lot better The best teams dont celebrate or encourage personal success

Its cringeworthy to see cake being cut for individual sucess during a game that they could possibly lose

The bottom line is did the team win? Any other success is irrelevant

Not to be left behind....

The Imam-ul-Haq Birthday celebrations.

Any cake for naseems wickets today?

Joking aside this cake business is diabolical

Saj MenInG you need to get the message over to the team management please.
Firstly there is no need to cut cake if people make hundreds or take wickets. That is what they are there to do!
Secondly do this stuff after the series!

This is hardly new lol

They’ve been doing this for years on individual feats

It’s just that there haven’t been many in recent times

And what exactly is wrong with celebrating when the team or a player accomplishes a feat? Both teams out there are trying to win the game. There are expectations and hopes on both sides. If one team surpasses the other one then celebrating is completely fine.
