Has anyone else been intrigued by the Pakistan Cricket Board's recent approach to preparing a turning track using industrial fans and heaters?

This novel idea could revolutionize pitch preparation! I can’t help but wonder whose brainchild this was.

With this technique now out in the open, do you think other cricketing nations will adopt it?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

To be honest I don't think anyone else will adopt the same techniques. BD/India/SL produce turning tracks just fine without the use of fans.

That's a fair point! But what if boards do decide to adapt this method? It could open up new possibilities for pitch preparation, especially in different climates. Do you think it might provide a competitive advantage in certain matches?

If pitches becomes too much of a turner too early it can backfire, on other asian pitches already conducive to spin it might hinder more than help. The fan technique fit the niche of Pakistani pitches since the soil is very hard and not easily worn down with more traditional methods.
Jamal not 1 over RIP Pak pacers already Shaheen Rauf not interested in test cricket. Produce these kind of pitches no one will want to become a pacer.
I'd argue that no one would have wanted to become a pacer on the roads we had churned out for decades previous either, yet the talent broke through. We can still pick those who rise above the circumstances, although attempting to create the odd seaming pitch wouldn't go amiss for longer term planning.

Hilarious the selection committee is getting the job done with pitches and have a better understanding than the curators. Just shows what poorly the work is done in Pakistan.

I do hope this is something Pakistan utilize in domestic setup as well. They are generally quite poor vs spin in recent times so actually having FC pitches where players can practice on proper turners would be great. Having half the FC season where its pacer friendly pitches and other half on turners would certainly give you a better idea which batsmen are great vs which and it would help the team better going forward.

I think we need a moment to appreciate the thought process and the preparation of these last 2 test matches.

Did anyone really want to see a repeat of 2 years ago?

The way the match is going, most likely Pakistan will lose this match. The 4th innings will be incredibly tough. However, I’m more proud of these boys than any Pakistan team in a long time.

Don’t confuse that with this being a great team. It certainly isn’t. But they’ve been brave and regardless of result, they’ve given it a chance. That’s all you can do.

2 years ago, we just gave up and capitulated.

They may not need to. And tbf, if we sort our bowling attack out (if we ever do), we won’t need to either.

But need of the hour and all that..

+1

Great point about giving themselves a chance.

Remains to be seen if the PCB are interested in the long term development of their bowlers now that a new leaf has been turned. For SENA they will need to think up a different kind of good strategy.

But as far as Home tests are concerned, they can run those big fans up and down the country for decades as long as it wins us tests in our backyard.

Aqib Javed.

He has made Ramiz look like a clueless

Turning pitch is not a long-term solution. PCB needs to find something else to make the game interesting.
