So, you might be excited that some PSL matches will be held in Peshawar next year. And, you might have seen that 3D model which makes the staidum looks like a modern, world class venue.

The reality, however, is far from it.

You'll struggle to find what makes the stadium one of the worst in the world in that 3D model.

If you want to watch matches, 30-40% of your view will be obstructed by these huge pillars that are in every stand.

This how the reality is, taken from a YT video:

....you can't really see much of the live action when sitting in the stands. Pillars will block half of the view.

Even this piece of failed architecture and engineering might not be completed in time.

There's still a chance, they can demolish this joke of a structure and build a proper cricket stadium. They aren't built every day and are meant to last generations.

Yup these pillars are mindboggling

Don't think there is a stadium like this

21 Topon ki Salami whoever design this junk...

First the PCB wasted millions on that Karachi stadium roof.

Now...they're wasting millions again where they had a chance to actually rebuild the stadium to an acceptable standard of 2020.

But here we see a miracle. Nowhere in the world there's a stadium which blocks the view of spectators and has gigantic pillars in every stand!!

Kpk government is developing this stadium by their own .Pcb has nothing to do with its cost

I liked rafi stadium construction progress .They are doing there work very professionally

This stadium is located in very populated area .They should have build it some where else in Peshawar

Its not complete yet, unfair to make judgements like this.

Have a look at our Mudassar Nazar interview to see how important it is for provincial govts to take interest in building such stadia.

What's the point of judging something before it is complete? Also, before the pandemic I went to Las Vegas, where I saw cirque du soliel O! show. I took the cheapest ticket since they were all around $200 range. The cheapest ticket had a slight obstruction from the railings.

My point is that every arena is not perfect. There might be some places with some barrier. Ticket will be lower for that, or it could be used for exit and entry.

So my request to OP is to hold your horses. Don't be a Mamoon.

It's not even half way done. Absurd to judge what the final spectator experience would be at this point. In fact, they shouldn't even be releasing pictures for the time being

While it's obviously not ideal to have pillars in the front of the stadium, it's not the end of the world. The aisles will be in line with the pillars, the seats will be between the pillars. So everybody will be able to see the pitch without a problem, but some may miss out on things that happen in the outfield.

There's going to be a second tier which will have a good view, so it's okay I guess. The lower tier of seating will probably have cheaper tickets Becuase of the inconvenience.

I sekd people about this. The answer was that pillars are usually installed at the back of the building and the 2nd tier come behind the first tier but as the area is densely populated si they had no space to do like that. It required more land ( space).

They'd better get plenty of overtime in if they are to get this stadium ready for the next PSL.

These huge pillars aren't going anywhere. They're in the design. And are at the FRONT of spectators.

Nowhere in the world stadiums are built to block the views.

This is a stadium for the next gladiator movie, not a sporting venue. They took the cake for designing the worst sports stadium in the world.

It's the public's money going down the drain - how can someone design a sports stadium like this in 2020?

This would have been outright rejected even in 1970s!

Never seen a sports stadium built to block views.

Dude, are you even serious? No stadium is built like this anywhere, to block the spectator views in ALL THE STANDS. These pillars are in every freaking stand. And they're so huge, 60-70% of each stand will have the views obstructed.

There are some upper level stands. But this design is flawed to begin with, wasting millions of taxpayer's money.

The point is, who accepted this design and started work on it? Why it's not yet stopped? They need to demolish it and build a proper stadium, or at least semi-proper.

This is not a stadium for watching sports.

No excuse can justify wasting millions of public money on this flawed design. Never seen anywhere. That too in the 20th century.

How can they do it!? And get it approved, start working on it.

It would be interesting to make a desi gladiator movie out there.

:))) Exactly what I thought.

I never said the design was good. I'm just saying it's not as bad as you're making it out to be.

Stop being so negative, hold your horses and wait until it is done. You are behaving as if every single spectator would have obstruction. As mentioned before, obstructions are there even in some highly expensive shows such as "O" in Las Vegas. I can find tonnes of stadiums with column structures that have obstruction. Surely stadiums like Dubai and Abu Dhabi are exceptional, but come on, what are you expecting from a 3rd world country? PCB gotta make do of what they got.

Appalled at the lack of support from you for Pakistan cricket. Please keep such attitude to yourself in future. It is not your money PCB is spending.

Also to add to my previous post, it is a REVAMP work, not a brand new stadium. PCB doesn't have the money to build a new stadium. Your rant could be somewhat justifiable if it is a brand new design and stadium. But PCB is make doing of what they already got to substantially reduce the cost. Also, it is not 60-70% of each stand. The column is in one single line, and spectator obstruction is only within that line. More like 2-3% of the stadium, not 60%, lol. Yes, taxpayer money is used, but atleast it is used on upgrading a stadium, and not to build apartments in England. It is a choice of using a lot of taxpayer money, or using maybe 20% of and upgrade the stadium in Peshawar, which may not see a game till maybe 2 years down the road. This is Paksitan, not UAE that can just inject money and build a brand new designed stadium.

Easy to rant online, and hard to actually be working towards a revamp or contribution to a new stadium. If you really are enraged, just build a new stadium and lease it to the PCB if you think you can do better.

Still surprised to see such a pathetic attitude from you. Sharam se doob maarro seriously!
