PTI draws huge crowd to observe ‘thanksgiving' after Nawaz's ouster

The stage is set for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)'s ‘thanksgiving day’ public gathering at Islamabad's Parade Ground. Imran Khan has also reached the venue and is sitting on the stage along with PTI's senior leadership.

After the Supreme Court (SC) disqualified Nawaz Sharif on Friday, PTI chairman Imran Khan had announced to observe a "thanksgiving day to celebrate Pakistan's victory against corruption".

Thousands of PTI supporters, led by Imran Khan, and accompanied by other party leaders have gathered in the federal capital to 'celebrate victory'.

Three entry points have been established at the Parade Ground; one for media, one for VIPs and one for the general public.

Permission to hold the public gathering was sought in writing from the federal capital administration by PTI Islamabad chapter president Raja Khurram Nawaz, after which the administration issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to the PTI for holding the rally between 4pm and 10pm.

As mutually agreed with the capital administration and police, the internal security of the venue shall be the responsibility of the organisers. Meanwhile, police and law enforcement agencies are taking care of the security and traffic flow outside the venue and parking.

An official of the police said over a 1,000 personnel are performing security and traffic duties during the event.

On Friday, following the apex bench's landmark verdict in the Panamagate case, Khan had termed Nawaz Sharif's disqualification as the prime minister "a victory for Pakistan", announcing to hold a Youm-i-Tashakkur (day of thanksgiving) gathering on July 30.

"Pakistan has won today," Khan had said, adding that he had no personal agenda against Nawaz Sharif. "I have known his family for 40 years, he did not take anything of mine — he had done wrong to the people of this country and that was why we wanted him to be held accountable."

This is not the first time PTI is celebrating a 'thanksgiving day'. On November 1, when the SC ordered PML-N and PTI to present their Terms of Reference for the Panama case hearing, the latter announced it will celebrate a thanksgiving day instead of holding a protest that called for a lock down of the capital. PTI had chosen Parade Ground as its venue for the celebration held on November 2.

So how he got 8 million votes and ruling over one province without getting a launching pad like General Jillani/Zia? And showed the Sharifs in 4 years what is real opposition.
 
Tbh these jalsas in Islamabad dont tell anything new. PTI has good support here in Isloo. Islamabad is a multicultural city with high literacy rate and people in general here doesnt vote based on ethnicity except for few.. Also lot of PTI folks come from KP so the number increases.

Would be happy to see if they get similar crowd in Sindh or North Punjab. That will tell change has come.

Actually so far all top 3 Jalsas of PTI have been in Lahore and Lahore is far from KP. Most of his Punjab Jalsas have been impressive and were bigger thn the one in KP.
 
Impressive little speech by Hamza Ali Ababsi i can see a future politician in him i hope IK convince him to join politics just like Asad Umar.

Yeah he had good jalsas in Lahore but comparatively not much if we take the percentage of support. Also would like to see them having good crowds in strong areas like Faisalabad / Sialkot etc

1 MNA and 4 MPA from Lahore are not that bad for PTI tbh in the home of Sharifs. Aleem came so close to winning another MNA seat for PTI there and Khawaja Saad is also on stay order there was massive rigging on his MNA seat. Agree with you Faisalabad and Gujranwala are far from PTI reach although i can see Sialkot getting in their pocket with a little bit more effort. Dar brothers are already working hard there and now Firdos Awan should do some work there.

Exactly yar.. Need serious work in Faisalabad area especially and it has quite a lot of seats.

Faisalabad require lto of work but a split in PMLN can really help PTI in Faisalabad because of Sher Ali vs Rana group.
 
Massive crowd this, listening to this now. Hopefully, next step Imran and PTI takes is to ensure a rigged free elections next year.

They should put forward a process to maximise the security of votes. Ideally an automated voting system should be introduced for next year's elections and also a petition for overseas Pakistanis voting should also be introduced for next year's election.

Electoral reforms are going to be a mission impossible because all the parties will stand together against him they are the beneficiaries. Status quo don't want any change in this rigged system.

I understand that, but a petition should be raised in the assembly and hopefully give it media coverage to pressurize the parliamentarians to pass the reforms. This would be a massive step in the right direction, hopefully it is given much importance before the election day. Dont want the next year elections to be rigged in the same way as the previous one was.

Agree with most of what you said but the way Media was sold during Panama case there isn't much hope left they will make sure to make these reforms look like yahoodi saazish if Sharifs and Bhuttos pay them well.

Ill ask my relatives in Pindi to find them for me. I remember many years ago they had Osama Bin Laden bubble gums in one of the shops, so im sure these wont be hard to find.

Btw what is the estimated size of the crowd? Any idea.

If this man becomes PM in less than a year's time I will personally go back to Pakistan and attend the inevitable jalsa following his victory, will post pics here.

However that is not going to happen, sadly. I do want a new party to come into power, but realistically it is still a tall order.
 
IK first time talked about Jemima in a jalsa how her character was assassinated by politicians especially N league.

AAP is a much smaller party then PTI. Considering the population of India, AAP can probably attract this many people but yet again I do not think Indian political parties indulge in jalsa politics. I may be wrong.
 
Looks like another great party! Sheikh Rasheed trying to imitate Clint Eastwood it seems with that cigar in his mouth. I am thinking why would an Arab join PTI?
 
That is a massive jalsa, showing true PTI power.

The only issue is, if going by jalsa counts, one won elections well then PTI would have been in power. When elections come around people need to come out and vote for them and put their money where their mouth is.

That image of Sheikh Rasheed smoking a cigar, it's like one of those victory moments lol. The fat lady is singing!
 
Can someone tell me the voter turnout percentage? Sorry for the silly questions. What do you guys think the chances are for pti to win the elections next year?
