Asking Shan to go away and play golf would have been good advice if he was in his 20's and suffering a bad blip in form. However, he is at the tail end of his career and hasn't really done much of note in international cricket.

I like Shan, he is a decent guy. He has tried his best in international cricket or top level cricket and hasn't been quite good enough.

If someone has the best interests of Shan at heart they should advise him to abandon his international dreams at this age and to dedicate himself to the project at Yorkshire. It will do his post cricket career wonders.
