Vintage Sarfaraz
One of his best wins as captain
Sarfaraz is a genuis tactically and understands the game better than anyone in Pakistan.
He has the right squad
When Hasaranga returns, they will be looking for play offs
They already have a decent enough bowling attack which should only improve with the addition of Hasaranga.
Now that Guptill is back in form, they need Jason Roy to start playing the way he used to.
They also need to get rid of this flop Bangalzai
At least from number 3
Rana my only problem with Sarfaraz was his shouting and not allowing his bowlers to think for themselves and of course the fact that he stopped working on his fitness. Being a genius tactically is not everything in cricket, it is how you manage your squad and give confidence to your players and get the most out of their limited talents.
and Umar Akmal as well![]()
Replace with who though? Hafeez?
I will take Hafeez any day over your favourite Umar Akmal. At least Hafeez has a brain to think and can bowl a bit as well.
Don't think that it is easy for me to digest the fact that Amir, Butt, Akmal and Asif threw their careers away. Just imagine what Pakistan team could have been if these guys actually cared about playing for their country.
I still think that there is no better bowler than Amir in our country skill wise, but talent is not everything.
Also I think Iftikhar is batting too low
He is the form man. They should have him bag at 3 or 4
Yes. Maybe he did become a bit too overconfident
But today he was perfect with his attitude and intensity. He was given a lifeline by the Guptil and Iftikhar partnership, and he was adamant to defend that score.
His keeping to Nawaz and Qais was brilliant
Sarfaraz getting closer to a place on the 'players finished by PSL' table currently initially occupied by Umar Akmal and Sharjeel Khan.
India would have been a good spot for him to stake his claim in the ODI team but he is not getting close to any white ball sides unless there's a rapid turnaround.
You wish that he’s close to finished lol
Still a proper batsman in comparison to Rizwan
Sarfraz needs better players.
Those overseas players are failing every match.

Sarfaraz is frankly burnt out. He has led the Franchise for 8 years and has lost the last 3 tournaments with Quetta not even qualifying for the play offs. Every professional organization knows when it is time for a change.
This is not just about Sarfaraz but also Moin needs to be booted out. The entire PSL Franchise and management staff needs a reboot.
I don’t see Sarfraz as reason for QG downfall the players simply aren’t good enough . Players like guptill and Roy playing 2 maiden overs is ridiculous. Then you have recycled akmal and hafeez .Nawaz been poor also .
It is interesting to see Iftikhar Ahmed’s stats in PSL:
Matches 52 Average 19 strike rate 118.
Not sure how he’s claimed to be some kind of match winner poor stats for someone who’s been picked for Quetta and Pakistan.
He is being misused
Iftikhar should bat at 3
Umar should bat at 3 he has played well a few times in the powerplay in the past he did get out early last time but was looking to attack the momentum is created early at the moment they are going too slow.
The last time Umar played a full season in 2019 they won the PSL Umar Sarfraz Nawaz and Hasnain were in that team.
Bangalzai needs to be dropped or moved at least from the top 3 position the openers need more consistency in the powerplay it’s a team game runs come easier with better batting at the beginning.
I’m tired of fighting Umar, Sharjeel and Asif Ali’s corner
They have all been thoroughly disappointing.
People keep writing him off and he just comes back. Keep on hoping he disappears, but he won’t.
He is there because he has backing from the owners.
To get to play-offs from this position is going to need a miracle but let's see.

Even Dhoni would not have survived 3-4 dissapointing seasons with CSK as captain in a row.
Yes Sarfraz is displaying his captaincy credentials very well. Great job. Sarcasm ofcourseLet’s be consistent here. You babar supporters ignore his abysmal test record because apparently “there is no alternative” or “it’s the players’ fault not his.”
Well Sarfraz is still the only viable captain at QG and his team isn’t great either. Sarfraz is arguably still the best captain in the country.

Of course there are alternatives in league cricket. A foreign player can also be a captain.
A foreign player should never ever ever captain a PSL franchise. Aside from the language barrier, there’s also an issue with the long term investment they have in a Franchise’s success.
People keep offering Nawaz as an alternative. Does Nawaz in any way come across as a captain? I think, realistically, there are 3 choices as captain, all risky. But this is where Quetta find themselves after the abject lack of succession planning.
1) Omair Bin Youssuf - He’s captained Sindh in the domestic season, and whenever I’ve seen him play, he’s come across as a calm, measured character. BUT, Quetta need to play him first, starting from the next game.
2) Saud Shakeel - He’s extensively captained both Sindh this season, and the Shaheens as well. Not an inspiring captain, albeit an experienced one. He would play in the Babar role as opener. Again, Quetta need to play him first though, starting from the next game.
3) Naseem Shah - He’s young and exuberant. Perhaps putting the extra responsibility on him will showcase some latent leadership abilities. Not many of us thought Shaheen was going to be a good captain, so no harm in giving Naseem a go.
This is franchise cricket. Idea is to win games and the tournament.

Who're Omair Bin Yousuf and Saud Shakeel in the world of T20 cricket ??

Saud Shakeel and Omair can't even get in the xi how you expecting them to get the captaincy.
It’s also about winning long term. The franchises that develop their own players see long term rewards. And with local players there are never availability issues either. Look at Multan w/ Rizzy and Lahore w/ Shaheen. Those two players aren’t going anywhere else anytime soon.
How well are the XI doing? Their only victory was against the second worst team, because of a worldie innings from Guptill.
They also played 4 of their games with Bangalzai, which is effectively playing with a man less. They’ve given Umar Akmal multiple chances etc etc.
My point is that they’ve consistently made mistakes when determining the playing XI. That’s less on Omair and Saud and more on Sarfi and Moin Khan. How much worse will they do? And if they do better, we can then have the captaincy conversation for next season.

Iftikhar should bat at 3
There is no other option for captain in QG.
Who else will be captain?
Roy or Guptill are perhaps other options but its preferable it stays with a Pakistani tbh considering the lack of English skills with most of our players.
I would give it to Nawaz yes I know he's had a poor tournament but it's something out of the box.
Why not Iftikhar? There is no other option for captain in QG.

In their recruitment for PSL(, QG should make it their number one priority to recruit a player who can lead the team, because Sarfaraz looks a lost cause as skipper.
Season is done for then barring a miracle so plan for next season re-sign AzamKhan
They have the players who can do it.
Martin Guptil has to play and he would be a fine leader.
Simon Doul criticized Sarfaraz for blaming his fellow batters and bowlers for the loss to Lahore Qalandars. He was very blunt and said Sarfaraz should look at himself in the mirror for his 28 runs of 29 deliveries knock as being one of the primary reasons for the loss.
Sarfraz getting replaced as captain will also likely mean his position in the team. Will be carried on in the squad for a year or so before not being drafted. Unless he makes one of his comebacks—which will also likely be short-term. Much like what happened on the national scene. It has been a bad run and all those decisions will make sense. But I feel a little bad for the guy considering his role in the successes both nationally and in the PSL before.
