Should Quetta Gladiators replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain?

When he is eventually replaced as skipper at QG, he will land a nice little job in their coaching unit.

A coach/mentor role like Wasim Akram.

If Quetta Gladiators are really interested to revive their team's fortune, they need to get rid of Sarfraz both as a captain & player with immediate effect as he literally has nothing to add. His own performance and attitude as captain is abysmal. Quetta Gladiators must show faith in any other Pakistan player to lead the side even if it comes at the cost of few losses. This culture of giving special treatment to some cricketers because of their stardom even after repeated failures must go in Pakistan cricket.

Simon Doull on Sarfaraz during the run-chase in the game against Karachi (Match 22)

“Sarfaraz is standing there and doing nothing"

“He has been struggling with his batting form. His lack of form is being reflected on his captaincy. He has struggled with upping his strike rate. So understandably, his confidence is down in the field as well"

“Guptill has been playing an anchor role so far, Sarfaraz has been worse. It is not the first time in this tournament that Sarfaraz is struggling with his strike rate"

“Might be a time for a strategic retirement for Sarfaraz"

It is indeed good to see.

Haters must be so mad.

He clearly can’t play t20s it’s good that he’s bro me a cheerleader. At least there is some use for him.

Low class comment.

At least he’s got many trophies in his cabinet unlike some “captains”.

He dropped Umar Akmal after only 2 games whilst he himself wasn’t performing. Today proved that Quetta doesn’t need Sarfaraz’s leadership to win games.

Umar Akmal is a better WK Batsman than Sarfaraz, especially in T20i’s.

Hafeez is a better batsman than Sarfaraz, and todays innings of his is far greater than anything Saifi has done in the past 2 PSL seasons.

He’ll do a better job as a team mentor.

Sad end to his PSL8 season - no where to be seen in the post game ceremony, no performances to speak of, and once again side out of PSL 8 Play offs.

This all depends on what QG want to achieve.

Are they happy just to plod along and make up the numbers or do they want to compete with the top teams.

Over to you Nadeem Omar, what do you want.

Would have liked both Sarfaraz and Moin to do the final press conference and announce they were taking responsibility and stepping down from their roles. Alas, this sort of stuff does not happen in Pakistan. Our people are shameless

Accountability must follow failure, something has to give.

Moin’s press conference was certainly interesting. I see why Nadeem Omar sticks w/ him. Moin Khan sounds like an intelligent guy and tbf his talent identification has been class. If you originally picked Roussow, Saim, Isman Khan and Azam then you’re no chump. Will Smeed similarly is a very worthwhile pick who’ll blossom in the future.

However, his basic strategy (Build around key foreign personnel, with the odd contribution from local players) doesn’t work. You need a better pool of younger players, and he acknowledged as such in the press conference.

I think the next whole year will solidify where Sarfi is as a batter. I don’t expect him to make great gains in the white ball format. Thus, he’ll probably move up to the coaching staff.

Meanwhile, I’m also expecting Quetta to have a much younger team next year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ifti traded ( for e.g to Peshawar for Haseebullah) and Hafeez released

For starters get rid of Hafeez , akmal , ifti , umaid , bangalzai. Sarfraz needs to give up on captaincy

The personal attacks on Sarfraz and obituary of his career will keep coming and he’ll keep doing what he does.

He’ll always be back in some form so I think people should just accept it.

Why does he irk certain Pakistanis so much that they have to go after him at every opportunity even when he’s not playing?

The team struggled by and large, but what is the biggest problem for Sarfaraz is that his own performance was non-existent.

He moved up and down the order yet he scored just 162 runs in 8 innings with an appalling strike-rate of 104.

I feel that it is difficult for Sarfaraz to secure a spot in the playing 11 so how come he will remain a captain?

He needs to groom a youngster under his supervision now.

Nadeem Omar the quintessential Pakistani millionaire.
Must have been very hard for him to replace Moin as head coach as well (even though he still has a job at QG)

Seems the end near for Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain of Quetta.

As per a media report, Quetta Gladiators are considering replacing Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain.

Apparently, new Head Coach, Shane Watson will be asked for his opinion on the situation and possible replacements, could come in the shape of Rilee Rossouw and Saud Shakeel.

Sarfraz should continue as captain. Shakeel isn’t even proven in PSL yet.

Sarfraz has had some truly awful squads in recent years. Now he’s got a good one, he deserves the chance to show what he can do.

Not sure about the fuss on changing captain , Quetta does not have much options and besides Sarfraz is a veteran get behind him

Quetta should've been grooming a player if they needed a replacement captain. Look at Shaheen with Lahore. But Quetta kept playing Shahzad, Umer, Asad, etc.

Sarfaraz can't secure his place in the team just by a good captaincy, he also needs to perform as well to justify his selection.

They should have groomed a captain ages ago. But I don't mind them replacing Sarfi, maybe even in the playing XI.
