[PICTURES] Trapped between ILT20, SA20 and IPL, PSL gasps for significance

Problem with PSL is even Pakistanis don't really care about it anymore. If PSL can just attract the Pakistani market then it would be enough for it to be successful. How many people watch American football outside America? Doesn't have to be some global league like IPL but quality will attract local eyeballs and quality only comes from overseas players.
Need to find a window when overseas players are more available. Maybe September or October time might be better.
PSL has been dead for a couple of years. There has been a lack of interest amongst the general public.

PSL peaked in 2018-2021. I think it is time to add more teams to reignite interest.
Minnowbasher - Do you even live in Pakistan?

Have you guys conducted market research or at least a survey or a poll to come to this conclusion that even Pakistanis don’t really care about the PSL anymore.

Sounds like a sweeping statement and my anecdotal experience is completely different. I would argue that Pakistanis care about it far more now than they did before. Initially, it was only active cricket fans that watched the games. Now, it is also attracting fans that don’t follow the Pakistani team but tune in for a few weeks during the PSL to support their home team and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Your opinions could not be farther from the truth.

More teams will require massive injection of funds by the stakeholders

What a great game between Durban and Pretoria

Pretoria chasing 211 were 150-0 in 12 overs, they choked and lost by 4 runs by the end.

Which T20 League are you watching?

A) BBL
B) SA20
C) ILT20
D) Super Smash
E) BPL

None. If I get time I will watch highlights. Very difficult to watch a league where you have no local sense of fan following, patriotism or ownership in which you will feel in the PSL. I can watch the IPL as it is without a doubt the best league in the world but too many leagues at the same time leads to viewer fatigue and boredom and the best players getting spread up between 4-5 leagues taking place at the same time is a recipe for disaster.

Most Hundreds in T20 Leagues:

T20 Blast - 164 Hundreds (2310 Matches)
IPL - 101 Hundreds (1097)
BBL - 41 Hundreds (623)
BPL - 37 Hundreds (437)
CPL - 31 Hundreds (386)
PSL - 24 Hundreds (282)
LPL - 10 Hundreds (119)
SA20 - 7 Hundreds (71)
MLC - 5 Hundreds (50)
ILT20 - 0 Hundred (37)

Out of curiosity, I would like to see how you honestly rate these leagues in order, top to bottom.

BPL
CPL
Hundred
ILT20
PSL
MLC (that’s the USA league btw)
Canada T20
Big Bash
SA T20
IPL

Rank them from best to worse in terms of playing standards.

ILT20 organizers advance 2026 season to avoid T20 World Cup clash

The 2026 edition of the International League T20 (ILT20) has been brought up to a December-January window in a bid to avoid clash with several other leagues in a jumbled T20 calendar. The move was also initiated so that the next season of ILT20 concludes well before the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

Usually, each of the three editions of ILT20 so far have been organized during the January and February window by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). ILT20 seasons often coincide with the likes of other prominent T20 leagues like SA20, and parts of Big Bash League, BPL and PSL.

ILT20 brought up to December-January window

ILT20 chief executive David White recently confirmed that the next season of the tournament will be played between December 2 and January 4 later this year. White added that the Emirates Cricket Board made the decision after holding extensive discussions with all stakeholders.

The executive further stated that they found it important for ILT20 players to get enough time for preparing for national duties before the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Notably, the revised start date of December 2 also happens to be a national holiday in the UAE.

The upcoming 2025-26 edition also marks the fourth chapter of the ILT20. Launched in 2023, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates and Dubai Capitals have won a title each so far in that order. The Capitals won the 2025 edition earlier this year and will start out the 2025-26 season as defending champions.

In a similar move a couple of months ago, Cricket South Africa (CSA) also confirmed that the next edition of SA20 (2026) will launch from December 26 onwards to give players a breathing space before the 2026 T20 World Cup.
