[PICTURES/VIDEO] ICC fines Virat Kohli but avoids ban for shoulder bumping Sam Konstas [Post Updated #82]

He should go down as one of the most distasteful players. Throughout this career, he has worked his backside off to get this title. So he can definitely have this one.

Virat still acting like he is a teenager.
He should know better and should not pick fights with anymore.

But one thing i have noticed is he is always nice with Pakistan team.

I don't think i have ever seen him do stuff like this against pakistani players.

No justification for what he did with Konstas. That's a level 2 offense.

Level 2: Fine of 50% to 100% of match fee and/or ban for 1 Test or 2 ODIs.

Virat is a pathetic manchild. It’s embarrassing behaviour from a guy in his mid 30s to behave like this. Hope he is given a ban for this but we all know that it won’t happen.

Doubt Indian management/BCCI will accept any potential charges, especially if it leads to suspension of their spoiled brat.

That was a deliberate physical contact. Deserves to be banned for 5 games at least.

I was watching and could not believe what I saw, It was a disgrace act from such a high profile player and more surprisingly commentators did not make it such a big deal, again not to mess with an Indian player.

If that happened in a football game, Kohli could've received a red card.

Disgraceful act indeed.

Kohli looked so immature when he did that stuff today against a 19-year-old debutant who just smashed your premier bowler.

Kohli should be sorry at his behavior actually.

He should hang his head in shame. I am pretty sure no one would have nice things to say about Virat if it was not for IPL $$$ and bootlicking. He was always like this.
This is way back in time but the below link shows what a classless individual he always was. As correctly said Money can't buy class.

Story of him hurling abuses on Rubel Hossain

doing this type of behaviour to a 18 year kid who just smashed ur prime bowler left right and centre is utterly disgraceful.
he should be fined heavily for this act and banned from the next test.

Look at this caption from cricket Aus. As if both were equally at fault.
And Indian clown Harsha asking the question 'who was in whose path?
As the replays showed, Kohli very deliberately instigated this. He went from way outside the pitch directly towards Konstas, who was just going to the other end. As a senior player with so much experience he should be ashamed of himself and his childish behavior.

He's mostly played in an era where he knows being an Indian he'll always get away with such disgraceful behaviour.

Unfortunate for the game really.

There are other Indian players too though. I never see Bumrah or Rohit behaving like this. Seems to be a very Kohli thing.

these Aussies for way too long have gotten away with a lot of bullying tactics especially towards newcomers even more so from subcontinent. Wonder how many careers they might have ended with these bullying tactics.

Finally there is a world superstar welcoming a promising young kid to the big leagues especially in his own home with something that is light hazing or paying your dues.

Amazed at how long Indian cricket has come. Stop behaving like gore log ke chamches just because it is India or Virat’s involvement. This is called comeuppance or Karma as we call it in our culture. Will say it 2nd time- SWAG!!!

Ricky Ponting, one of my favorite batsman, is extremely upset at Kohli. Here is what he himself did to Harbhajan when he was an 18 year old.

It’s funny, a lot of Pakistani careers end usually after Australia tour. The amount of sledging and mental pressure they put on field is world famous: in fact Indians before 2008 (IPl) used to be treated like that too.

Some Pakistani fans and one self- proclaimed Indian lose all sense of rationality when it comes to India.

I personally thought what Virat did was extremely cool. Absolutely rattled these Aussies who tried dirty tactics with him with the whole media thing. Well done Virat 👍

There was some instigation there from Harbhajan.
Punter was no saint though.

Two wrongs don't make a right. There should be no room for such behaviour.

I won't be surprised if he is handed a 1 Test ban.

This is the lamest, flimsiest excuse I have ever heard. Aussies used to be disrespectful bullies, so now it's our turn. Here's an idea, why doesn't Kohli just grow up? I mean he's 36, when does he plan on doing that exactly?

What was the instigation here? Imagine India touring Australia and doing something like this back then.

Are you trying to defend what Kohli did today? There are innumerable videos of Kohli misbehaving on the field? Should they all be posted here?

No, Kohli should and will face consequences. I'm merely speaking of how 'saintly' the Aussies have been since Ian Chappell's captaincy tenure which started in 1970. When you pretty much make a name for yourself as bullies, no one will sympathise with you when you get bullied.

By the way, you didn't say anything about the video I posted. Can you defend it?

Absolutely nothing wrong with Kohli did especially with Aussies. Yes, I wouldn’t agree if he had done it to some youngster from subcontinent, WI, Nzl, or an Indian youngster in IPL.

Aussies, England and sometimes gora SA (have mellowed down a lot since 2010’s) once in a while need to reminded it isn’t colonial era anymore and some dynamics have changed. Peak Alphaness.

If this was any other country, I would have just said what a psychopath.

But given this is Australia, I would wait till the end of day, you never know these Aussies are generally cheeky with their comments and all. Maybe there was a provocation prior to it.

Not defending, just sayin :yk

Not at all. Why would I? I am not an Indian hater

I don't mind if ICC ban Virat and Rohit for a test not just for this heated incident but our winning chance will increased 50%.

Australia is last team to complaint about these things .lol

:kp

Money can't buy you class and Kohli has proved that multiple times in his cricket career.

Today's shameful incident was no different.

Lol, some people defending this despicable behaviour from Kohli just because SENA players too used to do this.

Didn't expect anything better from these guys.

If he shows this with bat and does this people won't laugh at him lol But he does jack with bat then does this.

Whatever the provocation was, it doesn't give Kohli the licence to shoulder barge anyone on a cricket field.

Yeah he should be punished. That was a disgusting thing to do.

Can't believe this moron was our captain not too long ago. Good riddance , I say.

I was talking about the other video where Ponting clearly shoved Harbhajan

Old exponents of this kind of behaviour, McGrath and Ponting were champion with ball and bat in hand, but they remained obnoxious with their behaviour.

Especially when Ponting was a known instigator of such fights.

He is just pumped up to play for his country.

Given his age and his achievements it's nice to see he is still a passionate and in touch with the behavior of common Indians.

LOL watch Asia cup 2016 game.

But in general yes, he tries to maintain his Pakistani fan base and mostly allow the bat do the talking against them.

I can forgive Ponting for what he did to Bhajji, but I can never forgive him for how he treated Srinath, despite Srinath's genuine concern after a delivery struck Ponting on the face. :inti

He remains king and you can't do anything about it except crying in a corner

:kp
A “king” who is not good enough to average 50 in Test cricket. There is no cure to the Indian delusion.

Just watch the entire incident and Virat had crossed the line .

What was he doing with a teenager . Very poor behaviour .

Lol this is a typical reply from a few indians here.

1) They will critisize him and have him banned because he is not as good as he was in their eyes
2) But when others critisize him, they come out defending him and blame others for crying.

Fine is appropriate for a shoulder bump. I don't think it warrants a ban of any kind.

However, this was truly desperate from Kohli. Kid is playing his first game; you are almost at the end of your career. Have some standards. A player of his stature shouldn't go looking to pick fights with kids.

Kohli just doesn't have class when comes to sledging. He wants to be like the Aussies of old but it doesn't come naturally to him - that is why you see him do this kind of silly stuff.

Just watched the video of the incident. Kohli using his experience there with his shoulder, anyways no big deal.

Kohli fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

India player Virat Kohli has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct on the first day of the fourth Test against Australia in Melbourne on Thursday.

Kohli was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match.”

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Kohli’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident occurred at the end of the 10th over of Australia’s innings, when Kohli walked up to batter Sam Konstas and negligently bumped his shoulder with the batter inappropriately.

Kohli admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Joel Wilson and Michael Gough, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Shawn Craig levelled the charge.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Kohli is losing a lot of fan respect with his antics. I still can't get over him stealing MOM from Bumrah in the WC final. He himself and all Indians knew who won India that match.

Ravi Shastri lashes out at Virat Kohli after the shoulder-bumping episode with Sam Konstas while talking to the local Australian broadcasting media:

"It's unnecessary. Totally unnecessary. You don't want to see that."

"Virat's a senior player, he's been captain of the side, he'll have his own explanations regarding that, but it's something you don't want to see."
