The Prime Minister of Pakistan and patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Imran Khan is expected to meet the national squad on Friday before they leave for the UK for the World Cup 2019.

According to the sources, all the 23 players, who are attending the training camp ahead of the World Cup in Lahore, will travel to Islamabad on Thursday.

Khan, who led Pakistan to become the world champions in 1992, is likely to share tips with the players who will participate in the world’s biggest cricketing event.

On the other hand, PCB’s chairman Ehsan Mani and team’s head coach Mickey Arthur will also travel along with the team to meet the PM.

It is pertinent to mention here that the players went through fitness tests on April 15 and 16. The team’s selection committee has finalized the 17-member squad for the mega event in consultation with the team’s head coach and captain Sarfraz Ahmed.

The head of the selection committee Inzamam-ul-Haq will announce the squad on April 18 (Thursday).

Pakistan will face England in five matches ODI series, a T20I, several games against county sides before playing their opening match in the World Cup against West Indies on May 31 at Trent Bridge.

Imran meeting the team doesn't usually deliver :). He met them prior to the 2004 Indian tour to Pakistan and also before WorldT20 India-Pak game.

Instead of meeting with players , he needs to have a talk with Management who are not doing anything good .

He needs to meet the BoG first and foremost and kick some of these dinosaurs out of the PCB.

I was going to write this :)

Uncompromising Captain or politician Imran Khan is now on the hot seat, himself PM with lots of political stakes - will he risk that by shaking the hornet's nest? Is he ready to take a hit at some corner in his political empire and irritate local leaders outside his comfort zones - Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad.........?

great ready to hear more about the 1992 world cup win...

As if we haven't revolved our entire cricketing life around this win as it is.

I hope he doesnt. His cricket died after the 1992 WC. He needs to stop meddling in cricket. He has not given any valuable input to cricket since his retirement.

Lol he even used to back Muhammad Sami and told inzi to stick with him when INZI was captain. Such was his knowledge about pak cricket after retirement.

But one thing i like about him is that abolishment of department cricket. Obviously it has negative effects on player's living but for Pakistan Cricket, its the best thing. I guess the appointment of Waseem Khan and this department cricket abolishment will help pakistan cricket for so long.

This is a good move. Most of the team probably grew up as fans of Imran and it will be great for them to get a pep-talk before boarding the plane. Maybe he can also give a few tips to Hasan Ali regarding inswing.

It's called motivation, those who fail to draw any benefit from it are what we losely refer to as losers.

Scary thing is that these people look younger than Mani, yet their thinking belongs to the pind

Although technical tips should have come earlier, yes indeed meeting with all of them could and should be a morale boost after being drubbed 5 nil and then facing the media backlash.

That's just putting additional pressure on our already nervous players.

Same was done in 15 I think.

Pointless dramaybaazi, but these stunts tend to be popular with our public. The gullible awaam is already in awe.

Imran has been the PM of Pakistan for four years already? Wow, time sure flies... Of course, you could simply be missing the point, yet again.

It's not about him being the PM. It's about him meeting, IK.

Meeting your country's Prime Minister is most definitely a very prestigious occasion and quite different to simply meeting an ex-player. The fact that the Prime Minister is also a world cup winning captain and Pakistan's greatest ever cricketer should make it an even more special.

When have his speeches ever helped ?

It's something nice and motivational for the players and absolutely no one has claimed that it is a magic tonic that will ensure the trophy comes back with them.

Well its never motivated anyone so why keep on doing something that isn't working?

It isn't even necessary. Your playing a World Cup for your country. Why do you need a motivational speech? :)))

Unless you were present at one of these speeches, I don't understand how you can claim that it "never motivated anyone". No one said it is necessary. However, there is no harm in it either and yes, I do believe that going to the World Cup after meeting the PM and a legend of the game is most definitely motivational. This is why this will happen no matter how much you cry and complain about it.

I don't need to be present. The results show they are useless. Also I haven't seen any player talk about the use of these speeches.

No matter how much you try and say how useful it is , it will have no outcome on our campaign.

If it was Indian legend talking to the Indian players, your tune would change like always.

I don't care what the BCCI does to motivate its players, unless it is something offensive to Pakistan.

You don't need to care . But your opinion would be different if it was India and that is fact.

People have a problem with this as well, smh :)))

At best it will motivate them to bring the worldcup home.At worst it will do nothing.Either way it doesn't matter. What I do know for sure is that it certainly won't demotivate them.

People are ridiculous seriously. Its not right to pick on everything.:facepalm:

Saw an interview of Hasan Ali where he said he has a picture of the trophy in his room and every morning when he wakes up, he says to himself he will win it for Pakistan.

Hasan Ali - gun player.
The way he has developed himself as a cricketer is truly overwhelming.

On topic, these kind of gestures help you alot for motivation.

Like our predecessors in World cups whenever Khan gives a peptalk, our team fails more often than not..

He was starting to get arrogant after the ct. Looks like he's back on track again. Good to see.

Apparently a one hour long lecture from IK to the team!

Could be the defining moment for this team. Sometimes it takes one moment, one instant, one event to inspire something great. Maybe seeing an actual champion may make them realize they need to up their game from mediocrity to elite level.

But sometimes it takes more than inspiration and motivation.

Time will tell.

I heard a mention of Imran giving someone called ‘Hafeez’ , an ex- Professor a new job yesterday shortly after the World Cup squad was announced - thought it was a move to help Pakistan cricket for a minute. ;)

Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with the national cricket team and the Pakistan Cricket Board at Bani Gala on Friday during which he gave the team tips for World Cup success.

The meeting comes a day after the squad for the World Cup 2019 was announced. The tournament kicks off on May 30 with a One Day International between England and South Africa.

Prime Minister Imran Khan spent over an hour imparting advice to the cricket team and sharing his experiences with them.

"A champion steps onto the pitch armed with passion and a plan. Team spirit is a key part of victory," he told the team, according to his spokesperson.

"With your skills, sportsman spirit and your conduct, bring glory to Pakistan's name," he said.

He offered encouragement to the players and expressed hope that they would be victorious in the World Cup.

"The entire nation's prayers are with you [...] Representing the country at an international forum is a big honour. You are ambassadors of the nation and the people's eyes are on you, and their hopes rest with you," he said.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf tweeted that preparations for the World Cup were also discussed during the meeting.

No need to go to IK for everything. He surely has greater things to worry about.

Great pics. Amazing patriotic gesture from PM.
Encouraging players and lifting their spirit before World Cup.

Can someone help me out here?

1) Who is the guy in the far right bottom corner?

2) Who is the guy standing between Haris Sohail and Imad Wasim?

3) Why is Rameez there?

The white shalwaar kameez and green coats look so nice together.

Proud of the boys, get it home!

Grenn pant and white shirt would been better than this tent like dress, which suites only as a sleeping suite.

1. Video analyst.

2. Mansoor Rana - team media manager.

3. No idea.

The Brit HC to Pakistan is a really good sport!
