Below is just a snippet of what he is going through right now!

Anderson and Smith are exchanging a few pleasantries as Smith, at the non striker's, makes friends with the England bowler hovering right under his nose. Aleem Dar, stuck in the middle, ends up guiding Smith away. Still, at the other end, Peter Handscomb isn't having much fun. He throws a loose drive at Broad's first delivery and just about avoids sending an edge through to Jonny Bairstow, before another leading edge squeezes through the slips and away to four. Anderson, arms crossed, lips pursed, looking every bit like a sulky child, pointedly ignores Smith, before he ends up running into him as he tries to field a ball.

Some pretty immature stuff going on in this series.

Sleding has been a part of the game for century's and in this case it worked wonders because Smith lost the plot

Loved the way Aleem Dar walked in to stop.

Basically he now has the power to throw a player out for misbehaviour so that little chat thing needs to be watched.

I suppose this is too much. After all, a small conversation shouldn't be too bad, for all we know, it could be in good faith. I think ICC are trying too much to make cricket into a sissy sport.

Not really, the umpires can only send them off for a level 4 offence which would basically require pretty serious physical violence.

I guess thats why he came between 2 players before things got out of hand.

I'm loving everything that's going on. Cowardice isn't needed.

When was the last time there was any physical violence in cricket? Miandad vs lillee is the biggest I can remember and compared to other sorts that was nothing..

it can happen. When was the last time players headbutted each other off the field in cricket?

It can happen but chances are pretty slim.. So Mindad v Lilee is the biggest incident on field in history of international cricket? or have I missed other incidents?

I have no clue about headbutts off the field mate, I haven’t read news paper for a few years and don’t visit cricket section here much nowadays..

yes.

Saw the. Idea but honestly doesn’t look too bad - Ashes has always been a bit heated and it looks like only a few words were exchanged.

No big deal.

If Anderson and his chums can ruffle a few Aussie feathers, especially Smith without technically breaching any of the ICC misconduct violations, then it's quite a smart ploy by them.

I don't mind some sledging and aggression on the field but some of the stuff going on is really childish.

This is how shaz619 behaves every club game. :yk

It works wonders for me while I field at point lol problem is my team mates never hold onto their catches and all that effort goes down the drain

In the end real cricket and not sissy cricket is meant to be played in such a fashion, this reminds me of the periods where commentators apologise for the language being used at times by the corner men during a boxing fight, it's funny considering the action involves two men violently punching each other. Now it's a bit different in cricket but the same applies, its a fierce environment and extremely competitive so I personally have zero issues with this, cricket wouldn't be the same. Imagine Dale Steyn being made to contain all his aggression because of sissy rules and a sissy points system which tends to penalise players which do not represent England or Australia...

Agreed. There is what sport is about. Nobody wants to watch model citizens.

Really? Two grown men having a chat on a cricket pitch without abusing each other verbally or physically results in the cricket community to make a big deal out of it. And than people wonder why cricket and more importantly Test cricket is dying? They’ve taken out all the fun! No danger or emotion to be shown. You have to be like Tim Duncan and show no emotion otherwise you are slapped with a match fine. Absolutely pathetic. No excitement whatsoever when in the back of your mind is the fear of getting fined. No bouncers, cinder block bats, short boundaries, crackdown on spinners, and no verbal exchanges allowed. Imagine Waugh in WI in 95’ against Ambrose today? Just wont be the same. Cricket is in the 1800’s and needs to get out of it along with the “ gentleman “ approach a lot of brainwashed fans have in order to survive.

dont think we need danger in cricket.

Its a gentleman's game which makes it different from football.

Im fine with sledging. Its part of the game. Playing for your country can raise passions. That said - 2 points to note.

1. Here, they are actually both going beyond the normal words after a delivery is bowled. Their sledging is affecting the flow of the game. So Aleem Dar rightly stepped in.

2. More to the point is the role of Anderson and the England team in general. What a bunch of spoilt babies!!! Anderson is one of the worst sledgers in the game. But clearly he doesn’t like a taste of his own medicine. For me, that puts him in the category of a bully and a coward.

He is not good enough in unhelpful conditions and his frustration is clear.
I won’t be surprised if he abandons ship like that other bully/coward, Graeme Swann.

Think that's the reason why cricket is in decline, both in viewership and quality. If there is no sense of danger, than there is no reason for the Average John Doe to watch a game of cricket where players and fans live in their comfort zones. That's why people remember Johnson 13-14' so much because he was hostile and posed a legitimate threat that hadn't been seen probably since the late 90's.

The gentleman approach is derived from the days of upper middle class Englishmen playing the sport of cricket as a pass time. Cricket needs to appeal to the everyday man to ensure longevity.

Would love to see an umpire throw Smith off the field. Would put an immediate stop to this whole sledging business.

This will go in Jimmy Anderson's next autobiography for sure. In case you're not sure which page you'll find it on just check the index for the "getting bullied" section. The rest of it is just "Not working out the Kookaburra even though most cricketing nations use it".

Comment from facebook. Gold. :)))

Nothing against this minor chatter, but anything more is just soap opera. In which case, turn up the stump mics, and call it KABHI SENIOR BHI JUNIOR THA.

Personally, I just want bowler friendly conditions and hundreds having more value with intense effort.
