[PICTURES/VIDEO] Virat Kohli's behaviour as captain and player

Unlike our kaptaan Pakistan players have larger hearts and therefore possess 'BHE' aka big heart energy(tm) due to superior jeans. They will not retaliate to the opposition needling.

India does not sledge players personally afaik. Not even Kohli does.

Kohli is fine with it.

Windies are fine with it.

The people on this forum are fine with it.

We Indians are fine with it.

I see one certain Gentleman has a problem with it and he expects us to accept that it is an issue.

Few guys are over reacting here. Virat clearly told it stays only on the field.

I am actually delighted India does not play Pakistan often, they are losing out on the opportunity to fix the overall head to head record.

I don't mind the defeats but I can't tolerate Kohli mouthing off his verbals, aggression against our Misbah ul Haq type players

Kohli is all sugar vs Pakistan unless someone like Wahab Riaz or Irfan Khan gives him some maa bhen.

His off the field cringe worthy sugar coated comments towards Pakistani cricketers has kind of ruined the potential rivalry.

Tendulkar was a thorough professional in that sense. Stayed silent. No need to warm up to anyone.

What is wrong there?

He didn't even congratulate Pakistan on winning Champions trophy.
Instead of that he congratulated Indian hockey team that defeated Pakistan team,I have no problem with congratulating Hockey team but he ignored to congratulate Pakistan winning Champions trophy on the same night, that shows how jealous he was.

One of the greatest Batsman to play the game doesn't need to be jealous of any team.

Why should he congratulate pakistan?

He congratulated his own countrymen.

Why is he expected to congratulate foreigners?

Why pakistanis like you have this feeling of entitlement?

Arguing with umpires.

On the last ball of the 21st over, Aaron Finch failed to pick a googly from Kuldeep Yadav and the ball went on to hit his pad. The hosts made a huge LBW appeal but Shamshuddin wasn’t convinced and didn’t raise his finger. India Vs Australia, Live Cricket Score 1st ODI Match.

The stand-in umpire believed that the ball has hit the bat first and conveyed the message to the Indian captain. However, the Indian skipper was at his animated best said that there was a huge gap between the bat and ball.

Lol! This might make a good smiley to represent disbelief.

Virat Kohli on Wednesday was selected as the winner of 2019 ICC Spirit of Cricket Award and the India captain said he was surprised as he’s often been in focus for controversial things. Kohli’s gesture towards a section of fans to stop booing Steve Smith and instead applaud him during India’s world cup clash with Australia got him the award.

Smith had later thanked Kohli for his ‘ lovely gesture’.

“I’m surprised that I have got it, after many years of being under the scanner for the wrong things,” Kohli said.

Explaining his gesture, Kohli said he is against booing, calling it against the spirit of any sport. “It is part of camaraderie that sportsmen must have with each other. That moment was purely understanding an individual’s situation. I don’t think a guy who is coming out of a situation like that needs to be taken advantage of. You can sledge, can have have banter on the field, you say things to the opposition in wanting to beat them. But booing someone is not in the spirit of any sport, I don’t endorse it,” Kohli said.

Kohli said fans should be wary of such things and avoid targeting someone emotionally. ” Also, that should not be a representation of our fans and what we stand as a cricketing nation, a sporting nation. We need to all take responsibility towards that. Intimidate the opposition, definitely try and have an upper hand but in a matter that is not targeting someone emotionally. That is not acceptable at any level and people should be wary of that,” he said.

thinks he's Gods gift to the game..he's lucky he's playing in an era when the rules are one sided and the bowling is atrocious.

who cares. His record as a captain is wonderful and he leads his team from front. Big fan of him.

if you can walk the talk(which he does) then there is no problem showing a bit of attitude.

Spirit of cricket award going to virat is a joke for that gesture than that award should go to sarfaraz as in the Pakistan match the crowd was extreme nice to warner and smith as sarfaraz had said Pakistanis won’t say anything to him

Kane Williamson deserves that award,
he controlled his emotions in Wc final.

Fake person who does everything to garner camera man's attention.Kane Williamson deserved this award. If Kohli would have been in that WC final we would see so many vulgar abuses to umpires and ICC would be dissolved and Dharmsena would go into hiding like Kumble.

What a joke, absolutely disgusting that Konli the ****** won this award, should have been Kane.

If kohli has any shame he should give this award to Kane he knows it deep inside he’s disgusting on the cricket field. Also whoever choose kohli for this award should be sacked immediately exactly in what criteria did this pathetic person choose to give the award to the biggest verbal abuser in the cricket field and in the history of the game. This guy swears when he’s happy sad or in any other mood his only way of communication or body language on the cricket field is swearing mc bc etc. It’s disgsting someone like him got this award it’s a shame for the sport and the award. The worst part is over the thing it was given to him for seriously that can’t be the one thing for the spirit of cricket year award so much goes on in a year you cannot give this award over one thing.

absolutely and rightfully so. if that **** happened to india in the final, the title would have been shared. No way would kohli let anyone bully him.

Kohli never meekly surrenders to anybody unlike Kane.

kohli may be disgusting for opposition teams but for india he the epitome of power.

he is they type of guy you would want in your team not play against you.

Kohli deserves a lot of praise and awards, but "spirit of cricket" aint one of them.

Virat Kohli escapes umpire sanction for running over the middle of the wicket in second ODI against

Virat Kohli raised eyebrows during the second ODI match against Australia when he was caught running on the pitch.

Ex-Australian opener Michael Slater noted the moment during the 43rd over of India's innings in their win over Australia.

Kohli was not called up by umpires for obviously running over the middle of the wicket twice in two consecutive overs.

"Just seeing how he navigates the two, for me that is very much on the pitch, and that is definitely on the pitch", Slater said on Fox Sports' commentary.

"If I'm an umpire I'm watching that and I'm just telling him to get off a surface that the opposition have got to bat on later."

Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner both got in hot water over the offence this summer against New Zealand, costing the Australian team a five-run penalty.

Though Kohli was not reprimanded by officials, his teammate Ravindra Jadeja was warned by umpires for running over the wicket in the 47th over.

"It's as though they're not aware of it," Slater noted.

"The third umpire should be taking note and just sending a message."

No revenge while playing kiwis

Won't mind sharing #1 test ranking with kiwis
https://www.timesnownews.com/sports...hearts-ahead-of-1st-test-in-wellington/555535

And now getting out to poor shots.
If your mind is not upto it, why don't you give up ? Make rahane or pujara the captain. This is not his property to share. If he likes kiwis so much, let him make a property will for them. Kohli was always a poor ODI captain, now he lost it in tests too.

LOL, on the way to becoming the greatest player in your history and you are angry because he gave some diplomatic interviews and then lost a series.

He is not superhuman. He's allowed to fail every now and again without people saying he doesn't care etc. A bad shot is only a bad shot if it isn't executed properly. Had Kohli middled those balls like he often does, then it wouldn't matter. But he made mistakes..... it happens.

This whole series has been too cringe.

If you look at the NZ social media pages, they are all filled with pics of Kohli and Kane walking hand in hand together here and there. I don’t blame India for being so soft on this series, they are just here to fulfil scheduled dates.

India really seriously needs to consider its FTP and tone it down. They are working their own players into the ground here.

needs to assess the workload and fix the schedule. Pirotize well. This friendly rubbish with n.z needs to stop.

I cannot put everything into one post. Kohli the batsman can fail, kohli the captain cannot say I am ok with sharing#1. Kohli is paid and enjoying the benefits of Indian captain and not NZ. In a sport being diplomatic is ok but not repeatedly and overtly. Did anyone else the same thing about sharing #1 with India, even NZ ? The efforts of the entire team are there not just his, in achieving #1 rank.

As for his batsmanship, especially in overseas win-contribution in tests and ODI knockouts, I have my own reservations.
No "LOL" required there, I guess.

Truly a rubbish comment from Kohli regarding sharing no.1 rank with Kiwis.

Who does he think he is? Did he earn no.1 rank all by himself? Had he been playing an individual game, then perhaps these comments would have been ok. But cricket is a team game, he is just 1/11 part of this team.

Absolutely pathetic attitude. No wonder, we've not won a game on this tour as yet.

No, I don't consider wins in hit & giggle...

Maybe Kohli does not care anymore. He is in the top 5 athletes in the world as far as yearly income is concerned, so why stress ?. He can go off into the sunlight and just enjoy rest of his life, he has made enough for his next 3 generations..

I see. If he doesn't care anymore then he should give up the captaincy. :inti

I think we've got what we could out of Kohli, the test captain. Kudos to him for inculcating pace culture in Indian test team something which was missing hitherto.

However, he has become absolutely stale as a captain, nothing new to offer.

Did he just act like a sore loser and blamed toss for the loss against NZ? Poor comments from Kohli.

There is no need to blame toss for the loss where the likes of Srilanka didnt gave away any wicket on day 4 and Bangladesh scored 400+ runs on this ground.

Kohli should retire from all forms of cricket....this guy has no shame in losing...look at his post-match comments....he is saying it's not a big deal to lose one test match.....seriously, what the ****.....if we do not win away matches, what's the use of being called No.1 team....ICC should immediately strip India of its No.1 ranking.... losing to such a small country like NZ in such important matches in the span of 8 months is indeed a very big shame.....BCCI should sack Kohli from this Indian team, he should be forced to retire

Virat is an ATG so India is lucky he is not retiring but he should not captain anymore that hunger for wins is missing

They don't have to. All this aggression, making faces and cussing only looks good when you are actually performing on the field. :inti

An idiot of the highest order. Defeat gets the worst out of him which confirms that he's still as childish and immature as he was when he came on to the scene. Anyone can act like a saint when things are going his way, it's the tough times that truly challenge your character.

How pathetic is it that he had to celebrate a wicket, for which he absolutely contributed nothing btw, by telling the crowd to ****! What a loser!

Fuming Virat Kohli loses cool with Christchurch crowd

India's captain Virat Kohli could be in hot water after losing his cool with a section of the Hagley Oval crowd amid his side's rollercoaster second day of the second cricket test.

A noticeably fired-up Kohli celebrated the fall of some New Zealand wickets with gusto, particularly when New Zealand opener Tom Latham was bowled by Mohammed Shami for 52 without offering a shot.

As Latham began his long trudge to the pavilion, Kohli turned away from the action to eyeball some Christchurch fans.

He pressed his index finger to his lips then could be clearly seen on replay shouting: "Shut the f... up," in the direction of the crowd.

Kohli's outburst could potentially raise the ire of match referee Ranjan Madugalle of Sri Lanka.

A year ago in an ODI against Bangladesh at Hagley Oval, Black Caps bowler Trent Boult was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for a breach of article 2.3 of the ICC's code of conduct which deals with "use of an audible obscenity during an international match".

When Kohli's opposite number Kane Williamson was dismissed on Sunday, India's skipper charged past him towards bowler Jasprit Bumrah roaring in an over-the-top celebration.

On day one Kohli was pictured appearing to mock fans who were drinking.

In January 2012 Kohli similarly lost his temper, presenting the SCG crowd with his middle finger as he walked off the field.

The 31-year-old was also spotted mocking the crowd on Sunday, imitating a drunk person.

Kohli was given the ICC's spirit of cricket award in January for his actions at last year's Cricket World Cup when he gestured to fans to stop booing Australian batsman Steve Smith and urged them to clap instead.

It's been a torrid tour of New Zealand for the world's top-ranked test and ODI batsman. He scored 2, 19, 3 and 14 in the two tests against the Black Caps, and in 11 innings across the formats scored 218 runs at an average of 19.8 with just one half-century.

India will resume on the third day of the second test 90-6 in their second innings, a lead of just 97. Play starts at 11.30am (NZ time).

One person will argue that Virat has earned himself to be allowed to behave like this, and that we should try to follow him because that will make us great.

I stand by my words, this guy would get decked in two seconds in the real world by much more humble human beings

I didn't think new Zealand fans are that hostile that kohli got irked by them. Most fans looked like they came as couples or with family's. Like a day in the park.

Easy to behave like a saint when u are wining.

When things don't go your way, then the inner you comes to the party.

Kohli is very easy to trigger and people exploit that. Same as Ben Stokes

These guys need therapy tbh, of how to shut themselves off from the world

I am pretty sure he would be different in person.

He didn't say anything to his face. He was cursing out by himself. And even the likes of Sachin was abused behind the back. Things like this happen in sport.

Kohli will get another spirit of cricket award after his foul-mouthed send off of Williamson.

Kohli is a disgrace, I don't think Williamson said or did anything to Kohli?

Giving send off to Williamson is as cowardly a it gets. When you know the other guy is docile, it's very easy to act macho. Looks even more pathetic when you yourself haven't contributed sh1t for your team's cause :)))

Looks very stupid now, if they won it would have been a different case

Poor from Kohli. But then he has always been like this, don't let his usual nice PR talk fool you.

Now found cheating and calling out fake calls of two's to confuse NZ batsman. His mask is coming off and he is now showing what he truly is.

Captain Virat Kohli once again had a fiery exchange with a journalist after India's 7-wicket defeat against New Zealand in the second Test in Christchurch on Monday.

A journalist asked Kohli about his on-field antics at the post-match press conference but his questions didn't go down too well with the 31-year-old star cricketer.

Kohli was fired up on Day 2 of the Test match, giving angry send-offs to New Zealand batsmen and on one occasion, was even caught on camera swearing at the crowd. The videos of the incident went viral on social media.

In the video, Kohli could be seen putting his finger on his lips in a gesture to silence the crowd and saying something that social media users said included an expletive. There is yet to be any official word on the incident.

He was asked about the same incident by the journalist during the presser after the game but Kohli hit back by saying that he shouldn't be asking questions without knowing the exact details of the incidents which took place on the field during the match.

Journalist: Virat, what's your reaction to your behaviour on the field, swearing at Williamson when he got out, swearing at the crowd. As an Indian captain, don't you think you should set a better example on the field?

Virat Kohli: What do you think?

Journalist: I asked you the question?

Virat Kohli: I am asking you the answer.

Journalist: You need to set better examples

Virat Kohli: You need to find out exactly what happened and come up with better questions. You can't come here with half questions or half details of what happened. And also, if you want to create controversy, this is not the right place. I had spoken to the match referee. He had no issues with what happened. Thank You.

Kohli has a history of losing his cool in press conferences after India's defeats, most recent of which happened almost two years back when he lashed out at a journalist after the England Test series loss in September, 2018.

In England, Kohli was asked by a reporter: "The Best Indian team in the last 15 years! Do these tags put pressure on you? Do you actually believe you are?"

Kohli with a deadpan face, retorted, "We have to believe we are the best side. Why not?"

To which the journalist's rebuttal was, "The best team in 15 years?"

Kohli returned the question back, to which the journalist said, "I am not sure."

"You're not sure? That is your opinion. Thank you," was Kohli's response, which ended the rally of questions.

Even on this tour a reporter had asked Kohli about India's batting failures after the Wellington Test to which he said there are a lot of people who want to get into their head knowing they are a side "who can beat anyone anywhere" by making "too much out of" the hammering at the Basin Reserve last week.

he performs really well when he hates the opponents. He needs them to tall trash. Similar to warner. He wants you to be in his face. N.z are too nice and play touch butt with him. So he lacks the motivation to fight back.

Forgettable tour for Kohli.

Needs to relinquish captaincy as soon as he can.

Look at his face. He is about to cry. Give him some space and let him wait for NZ to come India, as he was heard saying on the stump mic.

😆
This guy Kohli is getting the bashing of his lifetime here in PP. First, frustrated Indians will make a Tabla with his skin (if available), and then Pakistanis are pouring their vengeance on the guy for what he has done to their team in last few years.

There is nothing new here - the guy was like this from birth and I am sure even his wife has her “experience” when he is upset. But, other side of the coin is that, this guy completed his innings in the following morning after his dad passed away at night.

Only, only alarming issue here is that this is probably his first series where in 10-12 outings, he didn’t pass a 50, and some of the dismissal types & timings are Un Kohli like. He was never an astute captain and has a knack of losing toss in Tests, when it matters.

For his wife Anushka probably compliments him. She is known for being a very bold courageous outspoken actress who doesn't take crap from anyone.

Kohli will come back to form as he is brilliant player but Captains are only as good as their bowlers and although Bumrah had a better outing this match, he hasn't got the zip back and that is on perfect bowling wickets. He is still a good bowler but he has without doubt lost his hold over batsmen. If this becomes a permanent thing, Ind are even less likely to win abroad.
