I think his antics and behaviour is having an impact on several of his team-mates.

They see him behaving like that and getting away with it, so they do exactly what he is doing knowing full well they will get away with it.

Unnecessary, immature and sets a terrible example.
 
I like Kohlis passion but this was ridiculous and no one has the guts to call him out. Where is the ICC? and what will Dravid have to say about this? Dravid remains one of the most liked cricketers that has played in the recent times, how will this go down with him.

Kohli is single handedly responsible for the way Ashwin, KL Rahul, Pant behaved. They would never have done this with Rohit in charge. Sad to say but Kohli is a bad toxic influence as reports are to believe. Vikrant Gupta has been saying for a while that there has been a cold war b/w Ganguly and Kohli and Ganguly is waiting for the right moment to strip Kohli of the captaincy in all formats.

Lol at Kohli's passion, the guy is a classic example of a Bully, On top captain who only bites when on top. He becomes a kitten when the situation is beyond hopeless.
 
Kohli,Rahul and Pant should be banned for atleast 3 matches only Indian players would react like this.
 
In last few series, Kohli's on field behavior had improved a lot, but after a while he went full Kohli in this test. Doesn't look good especially for his fans.

Dravid is too weak a character to control Kohli, he simply isn't suited to support or guide a captain such as Kohli. It's clear that Ganguly is deliberately sabotaging the team and looking for an excuse to sack Kohli.

Well the series loss to a relatively weak Saffer team should be enough of a prompt for the sacking if he is thinking in those terms.
 
He was losing it these past few series. IMO he should take a break from all cricket for some time and spend some time with his family away from media, if possible outside India.

Otherwise, I won't be surprised if he retires from all cricket before summer 2023.

Despite all the onfield actions, One thing is sure. Kohli gives full credit to the opposition for playing well. He did it to the NZ team for hanging out for a draw in India. He did when NZ won WTC. He did it in the press conference to the SA team here as well. Many fans are mixing his onfield behavior with other stuff.

Virat Kohli might no longer be captaining the Indian cricket team in any of the three formats, he still remains the 'aggressive and passionate' cricketer that he is. In the first ODI against South Africa on Wednesday, Kohli got himself into a fiery exchange with Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma over a throw.

Kohli, who was fielding at the short cover position, unleashed a throw towards the wicket-keeper's end as Bavuma played a shot towards him. While there was a slight chance of a run-out, the South African wasn't pleased seeing the venom with which Kohli had thrown the ball towards his end.

Though nothing untoward happened, Bavuma wasn't happy with Kohli as he felt that the ball could've hit him. Seeing him complain about the throw, Kohli didn't hold back and gave the Proteas star a sharp reply. The video of the entire episode has surfaced online.

South Africa didn't get off to the best of starts, with the team losing 3 wickets for just 68 runs. But then, Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen put in a solid show for the 4th wicket. The duo registered a partnership of 204 runs, with both scoring a century each. While Bavuma was dismissed for 110 by Jasprit Bumrah, Van der Dussen remained unbeaten on 129.

Virat Kohli is someone who carries his emotion on his sleeves and never shies away from giving back his piece of mind to bowlers. On this occasion, the former India captain was spotted schooling a fan who allegedly bothered youngster Kamlesh Nagarkoti during the ongoing warm-up game against Leicestershire.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Kohli can be seen shutting down a supporter for his behaviour towards the young quick. The fan was continuously asking Nagarkoti for a picture. The 22-year-old Indian isn't a part of the squad but travelling with the team as a net bowler.

The fan mentioned that he had taken a leave from his job for the game and he deserved a picture with Nagarkoti. "I've been continuously asking for a photo. I came here after taking the day off from my office. So, I've been calling Nagarkoti to click a photo with me at least," he said. Kohli responded with, “He is here to play the match, and not to click photos."

This behaviour is acceptable for a 19 year old debutant. Not for a 34 year old veteran with 13 years of playing experience and 7 years of captaincy experience.
 
If Kohli scores big in the 3rd innings this is where he got the 'ammo' from.

I don't know what was being said out there between Kohli and Bairstow but it was unnecessary and it backfired because it made Bairstow slow things down and settle himself down and made him even more determined.

Sometimes Kohli goes too far and it doesn't help his team at all.

It's the sort of behaviour that you see in the local park amongst local thugs.
 
This kind of over-the-top behavior was never acceptable. But now that he's not even scoring any runs it makes him look like a complete fool.

Bumrah has made a more meaningful contribution with the bat in one innings than Kohli has in the entire test match.

Just caught the replay and at the end of the over, Kohli walked past Bairstow and gave him a friendly punch. So, seemed to be just some random stuff between two players who maybe know each other well.

Yeah Bairstow's comments in the presser reinforced this too. I think we've all just become conditioned to expect verbal spats whenever Kohli gets engaged in the field.
 
C'mon Kohli. Your inner madman is still going strong. Let's see more of that.

No problems with the passion, no problems with some aggression, but what I have a problem with is the childish antics which are totally unnecessary and make him look rather immature.

The opposition must look at him and think is this really needed. In fact some of his team-mates probably think the same.
 
I didnt get what the Bairstow incident was about. YJB looked pretty calm but Kohli was quite unhappy about something - does anyone know?

Nothing wrong with his passionate celebrations; as long as he's not directing them towards the departing batsman or the crowd...in which case it makes him look like a child.

Fact is, you can get away with anything if you're scoring runs as a batsman. Kohli can't buy a run these days which means that his antics on field make him look like an attention seeker.

He's right on this one. That was a very late call. Aleem Dar should've waited for the ball to be bowled before making any gesture... Smart of Shami to continue with the delivery or else he could've been seriously injured trying to abort abruptly.
 
Being aggressive and sledging looks bad when your own performance is nill. This usually has not been the case for Kohli - but now that he is severely out of form, he should avoid bringing such unnecessary spotlight on him.
 
poor stuff by aleem dar. Once a bowler is in his run up stopping him is dangerous. Kohli is right

Bowlers can get seriously injured that way. Umpire should have stopped the game before bowler started his run up or simply let bowler bowl one ball before stopping the game.
 
Virat Kohli had plenty to say to England opener Alex Lees as the Poms reached 107 at tea, needing 271 more runs to win the rescheduled fifth Test against India. Kohli hurled a few words to rile up Jonny Bairstow, and as if that weren't enough, the Indian had an animated exchange with Lees on Day 4 at Edgbaston. The verbal exchange happened as Lees played out a maiden against Mohammed Shami and players from both camps headed back to the dressing room for tea. (India vs England Live Score, 5th Test, Day 4)

Kohli, known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, even asked the crowd to get louder after Jasprit Bumrah removed Zak Crawley just before the end of second session. The stand-in India captain hit the top of off-stump with a nip-backer that Crawley misjudged.

The Indian camp was ecstatic as Bumrah struck again after the restart to remove Ollie Pope, who feathered it to Rishabh Pant behind the sticks. The fast bowler's double-strike left England two down as they chase a record-breaking target of 378 runs in the series-deciding Test.

Lees also perished in the next over as Kohli went berserk during the celebrations. Batting on 56, Lees edged it to backward square leg but was late to react to Joe Root's call for a single. He was nowhere in the picture as Shami collected the ball and passed it on to Ravindra Jadeja, who disturbed the stumps.

Kohli earlier had a heated exchange with Bairstow during England's first innings. Even the umpires had to intervene to cool down tempers. The former India skipper commented on the 'play and miss' game of Bairstow, who then went on to hit 106 off 140 balls.

"Nah, there was literally nothing to it," said Bairstow, playing down the war of words with Kohli. "We've played against each other for a solid 10 years now. It's a bit of craic (having good time, enjoyable social activity). We're fiercely competitive on the field and that's what it's about.

"We're playing Test cricket and we're two competitors. It brings the best out of us. Whatever it takes, you want to get your team over the line and that's part and parcel of the game," added Bairstow.

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow took the attack to India as England closed in on a fourth successive winning run chase under their new Test leadership duo of captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum.

England were 3/259 at stumps on the fourth day of the Covid-delayed fifth Test, needing just a further 119 runs to reach a target of 378 on Tuesday’s last day at Edgbaston and end this five-match series all square at 2-2.

Former captain Root was 76 not out and Bairstow 72 not out after making 106 — his third hundred in as many Tests — in England’s first-innings 284.

The Yorkshire duo had added an unbroken 150 in 22 overs after coming together at 3/109, with England having lost three wickets in quick succession either side of tea.

India wasted two of their three reviews this innings when Root was on 11 and 16, with spinner Ravindra Jadeja and paceman Mohammed Shami the bowlers rightly denied LBW verdicts against the world’s top-ranked Test batter.

Bairstow was reprieved on 14 when an edge off Mohammed Siraj burst through the hands of Hanuma Vihari at second slip.

Root, driving stylishly, brought up his fifty in 71 balls.

The in-form Bairstow took four more deliveries to reach the landmark before late cutting Shami for four and pulling Siraj for six.

There have been only two successful fourth-innings chases above 200 in a Test at Edgbaston, with South Africa making 5/283 in 2008 and England 3/211 against New Zealand in 1999.

No England side have made more to win in the fourth innings of a Test than 359, when Stokes’ brilliant century led them to a thrilling victory over Australia at Headingley three years ago.

England, however, reached seemingly stiff targets of 277, 299 and 296 during a recent 3-0 whitewash of Test world champions New Zealand.

And their newly aggressive “Bazball” approach, named in honour of McCullum’s nickname, was evident from the start of their latest chase.

Alex Lees and Zak Crawley, with a blizzard of boundaries, shared a century opening stand in 19.5 overs — the fastest in England Test history.

But India stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah bowled Crawley, shouldering arms, for 46 with an excellent off-cutter.

Ollie Pope was then out for a duck to the first ball after tea, caught behind off Bumrah, to the raucous delight of India supporters at Edgbaston.

England then suffered a self-inflicted blow when Lees was run out for 56 off just 60 balls when Root called him for a non existent single So wild were the celebrations of Virat Kohli — who came under fire for his classless antics earlier in the Test — the former India captain was spoken to by umpire Aleem Dar.

England cricket writer Lawrence Booth said on Twitter Kohli went “utterly berserk” and was “given a ticking off” by Dar.

“I just wanted to give it a good whack to be honest with you!,” 29-year-old left-hander Lees told Sky Sports after stumps.

“We are in an unbelievable position. Joe doesn’t stop scoring runs and Jonny is in the form of his life.”

India resumed on their overnight 3/125. Cheteshwar Pujara was 50 not out and Rishabh Pant — who made 146 in a first-innings total of 416 — 30 not out.

Pujara had only been recalled to the top of the order after India captain Rohit Sharma and fellow opener KL Rahul were ruled out by Covid-19 and a groin injury respectively.

It looked like India might set a really challenging target in excess of 400 while Pujara and Pant were at the crease.

But Pujara’s four-hour innings ended when he cut Stuart Broad to backward point, with the 34-year-old now having gone 50 innings since his last Test century — 193 against Australia at Sydney in January 2019.

The aggressive Pant fell for 57 when a miscued reverse sweep off left-arm spinner Jack Leach was caught by Root at slip, with Stokes then mopping up the tail on his way to 4/33 in 11.5 overs.

September only to be postponed just hours before the start because of coronavirus concerns within the India camp.

"I thought the on-field scenes at the conclusion of the game were glorious, with India's players congratulating Root and Jonny Bairstow and recognising the epic job they had done," David Lloyd wrote in his column for The Daily Mail.

"Special mention for Virat Kohli who at times plays the pantomime villain, but who had a special word with both players. I like that," he wrote.

He also had a suggestion on a lighter note for players getting involved in heated sledging contests.

"Having said that, I do wonder where the line is and who draws it. Sportsmanship, banter, boorish behaviour, insults, abuse - we saw everything on day four," Lloyd wrote.

"Cricket is a non-contact sport, but if a player feels the need to engage another, my advice is: take up cage fighting and have a proper go. Let's see what you're really made of," he concluded.

Royal Challengers Bangalore star Virat Kohli was fined 10 per cent of his match fees after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter against Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. According to the advisory issued by the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI), Kohli was found guilty of “breaching the IPL code of conduct” as RCB slumped to a eight-run loss against the four-time champions. "Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru," the advisory said.

"Mr. Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct," it added.

While it was not specifically mentioned in the advisory, the fine was most probably imposed due to Kohli's aggressive celebrations following the dismissal of CSK batter Shivam Dube. Dube played a quickfire knock of 52 from 26 balls and was dismissed by RCB fast bowler Wayne Parnell.
 
Even after playing for so many years, Kohli's on field behaviour remains poor.

He guided the innings and steered it to a total which was way too much for South Africa. End of the day India made 100 runs from the last 13 overs.

It wasn't Kohli's best innings, but he did the job that was needed.

Team won. Indias top position standing was affected. Unlike how Sachin took years for 100th hundred, Virat achieved and is mentally free now. He would not care about 50th hundread much.

this is not Kohli’s 100th 100.. he is still a mortal he only equalled Sachin’s ODI 100 record..49…

I see nothing wrong with Virat this time. At this age, he's just having fun.
He took it few matches ago and yesterday was his time to give it back.

Probably the biggest insult to Kohli of all time. He'd die of embarrassment if he found out that his personality was compared to yours 🤣🤣🤣.

Secondly it's not even true. You don't prefer to give back, you ran away from me for nearly half a year by putting me on Ignore.

Then when you finally got the courage to talk back to me after India vs England series, you ended up reporting me and contacting moderators left and right when me, Rana and ryanryan put you in your place.
