Sarfaraz looked quite silly with that 'I'll change my Whatsapp number' joke. Cringy.

lol, sarfraz doesn't sit on the same sofa where morgan & kohli are sitting. Look, both were sitting close, and there was good space on that sofa, and kohli even looked eager to greet pakistani captain as he was only the third captain to be called out, but perhaps saifi wasn't in the mood

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 is officially up and running and all ten skippers are anticipating ‘the most competitive tournament in history’.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 is officially up and running and all ten skippers are anticipating ‘the most competitive tournament in history’.

The Film Shed in London’s trendy east end played host to the official captain’s media launch of the 2019 tournament on Thursday afternoon.

And with hosts England kicking off the tournament in exactly a week’s time at the Oval against South Africa, the time for talking is almost over.

All ten teams will play each other in a new-look round-robin stage, with the top four qualifying for the semi-finals - a change in format that makes this year’s edition more competitive than ever.

And Eoin Morgan, Virat Kohli and the ten tournament skippers can’t wait to get started, with a series of warm-up matches scheduled around the country in the next week.

England skipper Morgan said: “I don’t think anyone is head and shoulders above anyone else.

“These are the ten best teams in the world, it will be extraordinarily competitive and some quality cricket will be played so we are really looking forward to it.

“Every captain sitting here would lose their left leg to play in a World Cup final at the home of cricket. It’s something every one of us would have dreamed of as a kid.

“We are as best prepared as we can be. We just want to play that first game now.”

India skipper Virat Kohli added: "England in their conditions are the most strong side in this tournament.

"But all the teams so strong and well balanced and the fact we have to play every one once, I think this will be the most competitive World Cup that anyone will have seen.”

Australia skipper Aaron Finch, who welcomes back both David Warner and Steve Smith as his side look to defend the title they won in 2015, said: “Since Warner and Smith have come back into the set-up they have been fantastic and contributed so much. The morale has been unbelievable.

“Once it gets underway, particularly against England, and further on for the Ashes, the crowd will play a part but that is expected everywhere in the world.

“We have plans in place for that, and their squad input and output in terms of the runs they have been making has been fantastic.”

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis is hoping to become the first man to lead the Proteas to a World Cup crown, after four semi-final appearances.

“We are all really excited to try out this new tournament, to play every once I think is great," he said.

“The way we use our resources will be vital, but every team has X-factor bowlers that will have a big say in the successes of the side.

“I think the bowlers will win it, the teams still in it towards the end of the tournament will be the teams that have done really well with the ball.”

Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed – who led Pakistan when they won the ICC Champions Trophy in England in 2017 – is feeling confident.

“All the teams are really balanced. I think people are going to watch some great cricket,” he said.

“Since winning the World Cup in 1992, making the final in 1999 here in England and then Champions Trophy in 2017, we go well in England so we are confident we will do well and challenge.”

New Zealand were runners up four years ago and skipper Kane Williamson hopes his Black Caps side can go one better.

He said: “There are a few guys in the squad from the last World Cup which is great.

“But four years in between means there are a lot of new players.

“There has been a of talk about rankings, favourites, underdogs but what stands out is how balanced it is. Which means anything can happen on the day which is so exciting.”

West Indies skipper Jason Holder added: “It’s a very exciting format. In the past you could play five or six games, and that could be it.

“To play every side is great for us. We worked hard with the qualifiers to get here, that means it is the top ten in the world, we want to play them all and give ourselves a shot.

“The team that wins will definitely deserve it.”

Sri Lanka’s new captain Dimuth Karunaratne said: “We have great experience in England, we came here early to get used to the conditions and we are in good shape, hoping to do our best.

“It is not going to be easy though. We are confident and taking it each game one by one.”

Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib added: “We are excited to be here, in front of the cricket world and to play the best teams.

“To present Afghanistan to the world is great and we are looking forward to it.

"There will be a huge audience at home in all the different provinces. Cricket is not just a sport now, in Afghanistan it has become something else.”

And finally Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza is confident his side can spring a surprise.

“We have got a great bunch of boys, a good mix of seniors and juniors coming on.

“Cricket is a game that anyone on their day can beat anybody. If we start well we can hang in there.

“We are confident that we can go well, but a lot depends on the start.”

If Australia win the cup, I must say Finch is one lucky man and he knows that very well.

Williamson :salute

Forget the big-hitters, India captain Virat Kohli believes it is the bowlers who will be biting back at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

T20 scoring methods have increasingly crept into the 50-over game since Australia held the trophy aloft in 2015, with England breaking the world record for the record ODI highest total twice in the last three years.

The prospect of a side reaching 500 in kind English conditions has generated plenty of headlines in the build-up to the tournament but Kohli believes ball may triumph in the battle with bat.

“England seem obsessed with getting to 500 before anyone else and there is a lot of talk about someone doing it at this tournament,” he said.

“But at a World Cup, things are totally different. As the tournament goes on, scoring will become harder and pitches will deteriorate.

“If a side bats first and gets 260 or 270, then that will be hard to chase. I promise you, you will see 250 defended in this tournament.

“Chasing those totals will be almost as hard as chasing a 360 or 370 outside of a World Cup. Not all teams will win matches early on and some won’t be in good positions.

“They will need results and when you need to apply pressure, teams may play a bit more conservatively. It won’t be gung-ho from ball one.”

Ranked second in the world, India are one of the favourites to lift the trophy but Kohli knows they need to be more ruthless if they are to collect a third title since the first tournament in England in 1975.

They led Australia 2-0 in a best-of-five series this year before falling to a 3-2 defeat and Kohli expects greater concentration from his squad.

“We learned a lot from that. We thought we would win at least one from the final three but we let it slip and Australia showed us what can happen if you really believe," he added.

“They showed more passion and character than we did and we know we need to bring that here.

“England are the strongest side but all ten are well-balanced and strong. For me, it is a great honour to captain India at the World Cup.

“There will be nerves but we believe in ourselves and we know we have a good squad. Now it’s time to deliver.”

Kaptaan already getting us ready for under par scores from India. How considerate of him.

These players consistently play with each other in the IPL year after year, some share the same dressing room and others consistently interact on the field, off the field and in dinners, parties and end result is they have developed excellent interpersonal relationships and some of these players will want to return to the IPL in a coaching capacity. For e.g. the way Kohli was at ease talking to Morgan, Faf Du Plessis and addressing them as Faf.

In contrast Sarfaraz the poor guy looks like a debutant in there and has the body language of someone who doesn't even believe he deserves to be in the same room as all the other players. Lol he also didn't do himself any favors with the "Abbay Kallay" episode.

SarfiBabarHaris look at this thread pls.

And see the biases, you cannot be criticizing Sarfraz about his looks.

Sab theek hai except Sarfraz.

Very sad to see our fellow Pakistanis degrading another Pakistani and then we complain why we don’t succeed as a country.

When there is no unity what do we expect?

Just saw the whole thing on YouTube. A few Pakistani journalists asked some really stupid questions. Embarrassing.

There is no such thing as photo training, either you're a fierce character or a timid one

The only thing that matters is this man led pakistan to beat India in the CT Final to win the trophy, and inshallah again will do us proud in this world cup. It's a bit weird how some people care how he looks in the photos? What does it matter, it's not a fashion show, it's a world cup press conference.

Very well said. Pathetic attitude displayed by insecure people.

Yeah I also saw the whole conference, the prime minister one takes the cake. The most classic one was from years ago when someone asked waqar "what is the difference between kamran akmal and michael Jackson because both wear the gloves."

Man this new England kit is on another level of ugly.

They had the best kit from 2016 amongst all teams to the recent concluded series, why such an awful change?

Can you guys stop judging appearances im pretty sure it’s against the rules of this forum anyways yeah sarafraz looks timid and he can’t speak English so what that’s just his physical appearance he can’t change that his job is to play cricket for his country on the field not look good in photo shoots pathetic people

All they care about is looks and English and will never admit that this is the biggest reason they hate Sarfaraz.

Very sad because looks and such things are not in our hand. Its God given. Sarfaraz with his limited ability and limited natural talent has achieved much more than some superstars with killer looks and so called personality.

Personally i dont care and will never care how he looks like or how good is his English. Just go out and play for your country selflessly. Its a cricket match not a modelling contest.

I don’t know why his interpersonal relationship skills have to do with cricket?

Out of that picture only Faf and Williamson play regular IPL.

I somehow understand where people are coming from. People who watched Pak team in 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early 00’s are spoiled. Pak produced a lot of big personalties over those decades. After the retirement of last greats in 2003, Pak cricket has produced extremely timid and meek individuals who are not fit to tie laces of the past greats.

To me Sarfraz looked okay and comfortable. Holder, Finch, Williamson, Afghani and SL captain looked like schoolboys.

I watched the full conference. Sarfraz was just as normal as the other captains. Don't know what people are talking about.

Funniest part for me was when a journalist asked "If you could pick anyone from the other squads for your team, who would you pick?" Most of the captains just tried to either ignore the question or give a PR statement like they wouldn't change their teams.

Not Safraz. To the point and without any hesitation or blinking. "Jos Butter" :))

Let the people all know...

More amusing because Buttler would effectively replace Sarfraz

Pakistanis and their inferiority complex. Sigh.

Sarfraz is the only one sitting with some tameez. Also looks like a man who's here to compete and win, and not to fool around.

But of course some of our insecure fans will have issues.

It literally boils my blood whenever I read such comments.

Replace Sarfraz with a Spanish footballer or a Chinese tennis player and the same people will say ‘look how down-to-earth this person is’ or ‘look he has never forgotten his roots’ etc.

Pakistan historically is a cricketing nation which embraces charismatic personalities who also back up their aura on the field, but now we are here defending a guy for being a bit of a panseh on the pitch and off it to; oh how times have changed Mamoon

Sarfi is a streetfighter. He is also a humble yet fierce competitor. He was sitting with dignity and pride. But alas those who think you have to sit with your legs spread out and looking like a wannabe gangster wont really understand these things. Kudos to him.

they talk about big personalities, well this personality is a world cup winner and ahs won us a CT from knowhere but they want some barrel chested gangsta wannabe flicking a gang sign at the camera..

Hence,no surprises, that they will be the top 4 into the semis,as it stands of now.

Sarfaraz said he would like Buttler in his team. Well Mr. Sarfaraz he would play in place of you.

Fakhar
Imam
Babar
