Wasn't impressed with Aleem today with 2 out decisions overturned in review. The lbw was shocking as he gave it out straight away and it was missing leg stump. Was he feeling sorry for pak or a bad day at the office?

Yes, did not expect that from Dar, who is a great umpire. He reminded me of Shakoor Rana who would raise his finger even before the ball hit the pads.

The first was terrible decision it did not look out or close to being out

Hes well past his best Hes making basic mistakes every innings now where decisions are being overturned on a regular basis This has been going on for a while

Its time he called it a day No point dragging it out n spoiling his legacy where the ICC have to intervene

Aleem Dar should do something to improve his form, or just retire, poor umpiring so far.

He is still relatively young but culture of ignoring physical fitness takes it toll, even on umpires, you have to be at best physical shape to keep your concentration intact for five days.

Aleem dar will not be available from 25th feb to 14 March due to commitments with the Afg v Zim series.

Replacements have been named for PSL games during that period

So how does the World's best umpire celebrate a right decision?

Aleem Dar, once a magnificent umpire , seems like he is now on the decline, gave one out today which was clearly pitching outside leg stump.

Aleem Dar had to go off the field during the first ODI against the West Indies after suffering from the hot temperature in Multan

Dar was seen vomiting during the second innings of the match and left the field after that - He was replaced by fourth umpire Asif Afridi for the remainder of the match.

According to doctors, after a complete medical checkup, Dar is now feeling better.

Aleem Dar in the line of fire!

Renowned Pakistan-based umpire Aleem Dar added another feather to his cap as he became the first umpire to officiate international cricket matches for 25 years.

Furthermore, he is the youngest umpire to officiate in 100 Test matches and is also among the top three umpires who have umpired more than 100 Test matches.

He remained a part of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires for a staggering 19 years before relinquishing his role in March 2023.

“It has been a long journey, but I have enjoyed every bit of it. I have had the pleasure and honour of umpiring the world over and what I have achieved is something I did not even dream of when I started in the profession,” Aleem Dar was quoted saying by the ICC.

“Though I am still keen to continue as an international umpire, I felt it was now the right time, after 19 years on the road to step away from the Elite panel and provide an opportunity to someone from the International Panel. My message to umpires the world over is to work hard, maintain discipline and never stop learning.

“I thank the ICC, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and my colleagues on the panel for their support over the years. I would also like to thank my family; without whose support I could not have gone on for so long. I look forward to continuing to serve the game as an umpire.”

Aleem Dar to retire at the end of 2024-25 domestic season

Aleem Dar, widely regarded as one of the world’s most respected and admired cricket umpires, will retire at the end of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s 2024-25 season, concluding a career that has spanned nearly a quarter of a century. A true gentleman both on and off the field, Aleem is also a three-time winner of the prestigious David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year (2009-2011).

The 56-year-old Aleem also enjoyed a playing career of 17 first-class and 18 List-A matches between 1986 and 1998, before he made his first-class umpiring debut during the 1998-99 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. From 2003 to 2023, he served on the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, where he earned a reputation for his player management skills, understanding of the playing conditions, calm demeanor and outstanding decision-making.

He is currently part of the PCB’s Elite Panel and remains one of four Pakistani umpires on the ICC’s International Panel, making him eligible to officiate in ODIs and T20Is.

To date, Aleem has officiated in a record-breaking 145 Tests, 231 ODIs, 72 T20Is, 5 WT20Is, 181 first-class matches, and 282 List-A matches.

His contributions to the sport extend far beyond these numbers, with his professionalism and respectful manner making him a beloved figure worldwide.

Reflecting on his decision to retire, Aleem Dar said:

“Umpiring has been my life for nearly 25 years and I have cherished the privilege of officiating some of the most iconic matches involving the greatest players of this generation. Throughout my career, I’ve strived to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, and it has been an honour to work alongside some of the finest match officials in the world.

“However, all great journeys must eventually come to an end, and the time has come for me to focus fully on my social and charity work. My hospital project and other initiatives are very close to my heart and require my full devotion and attention.

“Having achieved almost everything that I had aspired to in umpiring with the unwavering support of my peers and colleagues, I also feel it’s the right moment to step aside and allow emerging umpires to shine. It is my hope that they too will have the same opportunities to make their mark on the great game of cricket and represent Pakistan with pride.

“While I will continue to officiate throughout this season, it will be my last. That said, I remain committed to mentoring and supporting the next generation of match officials and I will always be available to offer guidance to those pursuing a career in this noble profession.”

Happy retirement. I remember a period in the early to mid 10s where any captain reviewing against him would almost certainly fail

Terrific umpire. Can't think he made too many bloopers in his tenure. Was generally spot on.

Wishing him all the v best for the future and retired life from an indian fan

One of the best Umpire cricket has ever seen, hardly seen him making any mistake on the field!
