Hundred 100*(122) Comes up for Azam Awais against India U19 in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2023, He's likely to be named the Player of the Match.

Even though he's a young player in the under-19 category, He has shown impressive batting skills. His ability to score a century demonstrates both his technical ability and mental strength.

He seems very mature for his age.
So many things to like about his batting especially the hunger to score big runs

He won't be given a chance as the players from the streets will be picked over him. His batting his miles better than most playing in that joke of a tournament.
 
His unbeaten 105*(130) against India U19s in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2023, which helped Pakistan secure victory, earned him the Player of the Match award.

I have heard he was averaging like 78 in under 19 cricket before 2022 u19wc but was unfairly not selected for the WC itself.

Yes, I am sure he will. I watched the most of his inngings today. Brilliant batting under Pak-Ind match pressure!

But I wonder how Babar Azam's ODI Strike Rate critics are feeling right now about his young man??
Those fans must not care about Azan's innings.
Today Azan had a S/R of 80.76 and a few months ago against BD, he scored an ODI 100 with a S/R of 84.00.
 
His mentality is the most I'm impressed about. He takes the responsibility and plays sensible shots. Hope he continues performing
 
He looks very calm at the creese and can play both sides of the wickets.needs to put some muscle on thou but he is young
 
While talking to Local Media Channel, Azan revealed his favourite batters, he said:

"Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, Alastair Cook, and Quinton de Kock are my favourite batters."

"Lately, I've been following Babar Azam quite a bit. I had a meeting with him where we discussed techniques. He also talked to me about consistency in performance and I wish to play alongside him one day."

"I met Mohammad Yousuf two years back in NCA where he worked on me. He taught us to play in gaps and various techniques that benefited us."
 
It will be interesting to see him along with Babar Azam building up a partnership.

Exactly he is more in the mould of Rizwan and Imam ul haq and what we need is an enforcer and aggressive batter who can dictate terms to the opposition bowlers while at the same time consistent as well.
 
That century against India was a quality knock for such a young player. Strike rate and aggressive cricket can be worked on yes, otherwise if was a wonderful knock against the arc-rivals India.

Temperament the key as Azan Awais gears up for U19 World Cup

Azan Awais is the latest installment in Sialkot’s rich legacy of exciting cricket talent production. Azan is all set to feature in his maiden U19 World Cup for Pakistan U19 in South Africa and he’ll be the linchpin of the team’s batting unit during the tournament.

Azan recently finished as the second-leading run-scorer in ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2023 with 222 runs in four games. The highlight of his career, according to him, has been the hundred against India in that tournament, where he anchored Pakistan’s chase with maturity and courage.

Talking to PCB Digital about his journey, Azan reminisced about the times when he fell in love with the game, “I started playing the game when I was just eight years old. My father took me to an academy for training. I had to stop playing for some time due to my studies but a visit to Sialkot’s Jinnah stadium reignited my hunger to play during school days. My father has sacrificed a lot for my growth as he lent time and attention and helped me excel.”

Azan played U13 Inter-Regional T20 Tournament 2017 for Sialkot U13, and returned in the same tournament as the leading run-scorer in the 2018 edition. His step up to the U16 level also yielded considerable success as he returned as the second leading run-scorer in the National U16 One Day Tournament 2019-20. In the subsequent edition of this tournament, he ended up as the third-leading run-scorer.

Azan has played nine one-day games for Pakistan U19 and will be banking on his experience of batting in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia and UAE in the upcoming U19 World Cup. He was part of the Pakistan Shaheens side that toured Australia last year. In the One-Day series against Bangladesh U19, he was the leading run-scorer accumulating 269 runs in five outings.

Azan said: “I follow Alastair Cook and Saeed Anwar as a left-handed batter. Cook was a run machine and he used to play marathon innings while Saeed bhai played delightful strokes.”
Shedding light on Pakistan U19’s preparation for the World Cup, he added, “The coaches have told us about the bounce in South African wickets and made us train in similar conditions during the camp. We have played scenario matches. Some of the net sessions have been intense. We are a united team and will look to lift the trophy for Pakistan.”
 
Started his innings today with a boundary but gone after that. Scored just 5 runs in his first outing against Afghanistan U19 in the ICC U19 World Cup.
 
Azan Awais played a fighting knock of 63* runs off 82 deliveries against Nepal U-19 to ensure Pakistan U-19s second victory in the ICC under-19 WC 2024. His innings included 6 fours.
 
An exciting young talent but in my opinion this young group needs to work on their strike rates because in modern day cricket they can't play with low strike rate.
 
I'm highly impressed with Azan Awaiz. The way he handled the pressure single-handedly in today's group stage match against Nepal U19s in the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 was truly commendable.
 
Holding the innings together so far for Pakistan U19 against Australia U19 in the 2nd Semi-Final. I don't want to jinx him but he is looking much better out there in the middle than the rest of the lot.
 
Don’t care about stylish for now. Just hope he bats through and gets Pakistan to a decent total
 
Azam Awais reaches his half-century amidst a crisis for Pakistan U19 in the 2nd semi-final of the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 against Australia U19. Currently batting at 50*(84), his resilient and gritty fifty holds great value. But, I'm skeptical about us setting an appropriate target for Australia U19.

He has a real calmness in his batting. Saw it first when he scored the match winning 100 against India in the U19 World Cup
 
Needs to work on the short ball. Looks hopeless when the ball is above waist, but he is one for the future in tests. Good to see him scoring runs.

Good to see him amping the runs a solid prospect for tests provided he works on his obvious short comings.
 
should replace abd as opener in sa tests.abd would be a lame dauck on those pitches and azan awais seems to be a good player of seam and bounce

Lol Azan awais was all at sea against anything above waist height in the champions cup. He needs at least 2 more years in domestic before being considered in tests.
