[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Is Shubman Gill the best young cricketer in the world today?

No. Gill and Jaiswal both are favourite players of 95% Indian fans.

Tuktukraj fans ( CSGUY fans ) are crying just because gill and Jaiswal are scoring runs while Tuktukraj is only serve the drink for india A players .

:kp
Csk guys literally took over samson pr and treated India opener slot as granted

Gill played a massive inning and he needed that for himself... Probably match winning if india somehow manages to win.

Shubman Gill played just 4% false shots on the way to his Edgbaston century - that's the lowest figure for a Test hundred in England since records began in 2006.
Even in this year's IPL, his control percent was close to 89% while scoring 650-odd runs. That's insane for slam bang cricket.

Gill can take inspiration from Steve Waugh.

Waugh was averaging 36 after 46 at the age of 26 then later become 50+ average test Batsman .

Gill avg is 36 after 32 test at the age of 25 .

:kp
Just after 3 inning Gill AVG cross 40 . :kp

You can take the pitch out of the equation, playing anything above 250 take immense fitness, concentration and temperament. Its not the territory of ordinary cricketers. Anything beyond 250 is in the realm of serious serious cricket talent.

Shubman Gill said, "my father called me and congratulated, but he also said I missed my Triple century".

Dream for Tuktukraj :kp

Shubman Gill has 585* after 2 tests on the current England tour. 3 more tests to go and potentially 6 innings.

He could make it to Top 10 by the end of the series.

He needs 214 more runs to get to #10 all time replacing and removing Brian Lara from top 10

He needs 245 runs to get to #5 all time, replacing and removing Viv Richards from Top 5

He needs 255 runs to get to #3 all time

He needs 320 runs to get to #2 all time

He needs 390 runs to get to #1 all time

Currently Sir Don Bradman remains at #1 with a staggering 974 runs scored in 5 tests Ashes series in England in 1930

Worth noting 3 of the top 5 did it in England only.

493 runs against Australia in Australia in 2007-08.

He was consistent, not heavy scorer.

During the 2000s batting prolific era, Sachin missed out heavily due to not being in supreme fitness for a good part of it. The Tennis elbow related batting form issues wrecked his career just when he was meant to take it to another level.

It’s his greatness he managed to emerge from it in 2008-2010 otherwise he was set for a Virat Kohliesaue dip in legacy.

Shubman Gill is the second Indian captain to score a century in both innings of a Test match. Sunil Gavaskar also did it in 1978 versus West Indies.

Pakistanis who have achieved this are:

Inzamam-ul-Haq in 2005 versus England
Misbah-ul-Haq in 2014 versus Australia

Gill Eyes History as He Nears Dravid’s Record in England

India’s young batting sensation Shubman Gill is on the brink of rewriting history books, needing just 18 more runs to surpass Rahul Dravid’s long-standing record for the most runs by an Indian in a Test series in England. Dravid’s iconic 602-run tally from the 2002 tour, scored across four Tests at an average of 100.33, has remained untouched for over two decades. However, Gill, with a blistering 585 runs in just two Tests so far in the ongoing 2025 series, is averaging a staggering 146.25 and still has three more matches to make the record his own.

Gill currently sits third on the all-time Indian run-getters list in a Test series in England, just behind Virat Kohli’s 593-run haul from 2018. Also in the top five are legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar, who amassed 542 runs in 1979, and Dravid again, with 461 runs during the 2011 series. If Gill maintains his current form, not only could he eclipse Dravid’s mark, but he might set a new benchmark that could stand the test of time.

Gill has a good attitude. Down to earth fella. It is refreshing because many Indian players have serious attitude problems. :inti

Yeah he's one of the players i like.

Yeah. One of the few Indian players I like.

I also like Rohit Sharma. Very down to earth fella. I have never seen him do sledging or show attitude.

India need more players like Gill/Rohit and less like Kohli/Ashwin. It is not just about performance; attitude matters too. Young people look up to these cricketers. :inti
