[PICTURES/VIDEOS] "Mentally and skill wise I have all it takes to play for Pakistan": Omair Bin Yousuf

This doesn't even make sense? Omair is a red ball player? Just because he hit a few shots in acc doesn't make him whiteball material.

I'm not saying he can't become an all format player in the future, but neither shabzada nor omair deserve to be in whoteball especially t20 lol.

They should be drafted in tests only replacing Abdullah and Shan

I think he can play in odis and tests but t20 isn't his format.

Maybe in pdi but I've seen Shabzada farhan and Omair in red ball. Their gun batters but shabzada is very bad in whiteball and omair so far seems promising but isn't their yet.

Don't know why he was selected for T20's.

He should only have a chance of representing Pak in Tests only

He may develop his white ball game, but currently he is a massive liability in limited overs

Worth a shot after the way he batted when promoted to open in the emerging Asia cup

I think Omair needs a test series at home or in asia conditions.

Omair Bin Yousuf media talk at National Bank Stadium ahead of Pakistan's T20I series against Australia:

"We've tried to use all the facilities provided to us to prepare. During recent ODI match between Australia and Pakistan, we saw that good short-of-length deliveries were being bowled, so we've tried to practice that here as much as possible."

"Since marble surfaces were available, we practiced on them, aiming to get better with short-pitched balls, as we’ll need to execute this preparation in Australia. The goal is to make our practice here as effective as possible, so we can execute our plans well over there. There’s great competition in the Pakistan team; my goal is to perform well and contribute as much as I can, staying in the team and helping it win consistently."

"Marble practice helps because the ball comes at you faster and bounces more than on a normal pitch. Since Australia has more bounce and pace, practicing on marble gives us an advantage and helps us get used to those conditions. I think this kind of preparation is essential before going there."

"I’ve played at various positions domestically, so my goal is to contribute to the team in any role I’m given. I don’t focus much on specific batting positions; what matters to me is finding ways to help the team."

"After a wicket falls, it’s crucial not to let the run rate drop too much, especially with the modern game where high scores are common. However, the situation on the ground dictates play. The batter has to assess which bowler to attack and which to play carefully, so it really depends on the match scenario."

"While there isn't any particular Australian player I’m specifically eager to face, I have always enjoyed watching their cricket. Playing on such a big stage naturally comes with some pressure, especially since this will be my first experience there. Handling pressure is part of the preparation, as we train ourselves mentally along with physical skills."

"Even though I say I can bat at any position, I do have my preferred spots. For instance, I feel most comfortable in the top order, like opening or at one-down. However, I’m ready to play wherever the team needs me. In domestic cricket, I've batted in every position from one to six and even scored a fifty batting at six, so I’m flexible."

"I’ve seen Australia's squad, and it has a mix of experienced and newer players, similar to our team. I haven’t done specific preparation yet, as I’d need to see their videos to study the bowlers properly. Once we’re there, we’ll get a better idea of who we’ll face and prepare accordingly."

Omair will be making his T20I debut for Pakistan today against Zimbabwe.

Wishing him best of luck and hoping that he smashes the Zimbabwean side.

This is the talent we are relying on, who can't play a big innings even against minnows. He got out too early against Zimbabwe in the first T20I

First game bhai atleast give him the series before passing judgement

Nothing special then again it qas debut need atleast 8-10 games for conclusive evidence

He is a trier and wants to get on with it, but unfortunately he doesn't have the shots in his locker

Hallmark of a proper Test batsman playing T20

I hope he does learn the skill of hitting and works on his hitting

Isn't a T20 player but is should get a chance in tests. I worry that he stands totally still and at the higher level that doesn't work well

His batting is far better than the likes of Salman and Tayyab tahir. He will be fine in t20s.

Comparing a top order batsman to middle order batsmen?

He is nowhere near good enough to be opening for Pak in T20's currently

What I meant was his hitting. Omair won't struggle to average around 6 with the bat and Sr of around 50 in middle order. How is he not good enough in your eyes but Salman is?

You want to play Omair in the middle order?

If a high class batsman like Fakhar Zaman struggled - why do you think Omair will succeed?

Great way to ruin a young batsmans career, put him in a different position.

He shouldn't be in the T20 side - period.

Omair never looked a T20 player to be honest its better to utilize him in ODI cricket... T20 format is not for him.

His game is suited to the longer formats. However if he works on his shots & SR he will become a good option for the white ball formats.

You might not follow domestics much so let me help you. Omair started his career as an opener, but later moved down the order. I am not comparing him with fakhar. If omair is removed from opening even in the middle order he won't be as pathetic as Salman. That's the bottom line. Salman can't play pace that well and certainly can't hit. omair clearly has the ability to hit, that wasn't the case a year ago but he has improved. Even that six today showed he's worked on his game.

He is nearly 26 not an u19 kid. He should be backed in the opening slot with saim at the moment. If we can have a specialist captain in salman who plays at a test rate, there is no harm in giving omair a good run.

He is nearly 26 and that makes it worse

You want him to have opportunities as opener?

I thought he was slotting in the middle order?

First, let him make runs in domestic cricket as opener in T20's

Developing players at international level is silly

What you want him to be in mid 30s before being given a go? He's played in both positions so it shouldn't be a problem for him. The bottom line is he's better than Salman as a batsmen in any position and he should be playing ahead of Salman in t20s.

That 6 over cover was some shot. Was disappointed in the way he got out though. He needs to figure out his game.

Was trying too hard needs to keep his shape and stop moving around too much. He should be opening in domestics if Pakistan sees him as an opener.

If he is good enough, then he needs to show it in domestic T20 first and even if it means he is in his 30's

At this point, he simply lacks hitting prowess to displace others ahead him

I will end it there
