[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Sam Konstas: A talented Australian batter

Now that he has gotten a taste of the top level, he needs to go and play Sheffield Shield (and have a strong season) to regain confidence/touch and also, work on his weaknesses.

Years from now people will look back at this thread and cry in anguish knowing that I was right.

It is not possible for Indians to disprove me

His techniques is very bad and not suitable for test cricket as of now. Maybe he should play more first class cricket before play for national team . :kp
Aussie should select a proper opener who can see off the new ball and protect middle order to give Smith etc time to settle.

Gung ho approach won't work for them.

Aussies needs two proper openers , khawaja is also past his prime.

After the ashes Australia need all top 4 batters and I don't see any quality telent coming from Australia domestic as of now.

They will face taught time in upcoming years. They haven't find any replacement of Warner Even after a year .

Green can play at 4 /5 .

Tough series so far for Sam Konstas, but the final Test in Jamaica could be crucial for his Ashes chances.

Pat Cummins has voiced his backing for Konstas.

Thank god Cummins isn't @Devadwal :virat

Devad would probs bankrupt all boards if he was incharge either deliberately or heck unintentionally out of pure incompetency

Konstas takes notes from seniors ahead of home Ashes series

The opener will start preparations for the big series against England with two red-ball matches with Australia A against India A.

After being named in the 14-member Australia 'A' squad to play a pair of four-day games against India 'A', Australia opener Sam Konstas is looking forward to the Sheffield Shield matches in October to make a case for his selection in The Ashes squad.

"It's massive, it's going to be a big four games and I expect that," the youngster said in an interview to ESPNCricinfo.

"For me it's just trying to best prepare, and then obviously trusting what I think is right in that current moment.

"It was my first time playing in the West Indies (Australia's recent Test series in the Caribbean), and first time facing those bowlers. They bowled well and hopefully I can build from that experience."

The opening batter had a forgettable tour to the Caribbean with scores of 3, 5, 25, 0, 17 and 0 in the three-match Test series against the West Indies.

The 19-year old hopes to adopt the right mindset and train hard, while trusting his conversations with some of the senior players like Steve Smith and former Test star David Warner.

"I am very lucky to be working with the best in the world. I'm still learning about my game and finding what works in different conditions," he said.

"Understanding the situations, when to soak up pressure [and] when to attack the game.

"I just like his (Warner) mindset, he takes the game on and he's very aggressive. He's always trying to dictate terms in the way he likes to."

While Australia chair of selectors George Bailey hopes Australia 'A' will help him get back his lost touch, Konstas also has captain Pat Cummins' backing ahead of Australia's first home series in the new World Test Championship cycle.

"As an athlete, you're going to go through failures and successes, but I tell you, build from those failures and become a better person and cricketer," Konstas added.

Young but a talented legend but Campbell kellaway should play ashes instead of konstas for now

Other than playing a bunch of reverse ramp shots against Bumrah, he hasn't done much.

I don't see him being a regular in Aussie team, unless he improves drastically.

Bishop smiling after Sam dismissal and asking about quality of aus opening is a great sight. Its an epic
:ssmith
The only format he can play right now is t20s (that too big bash not internationals).
Was he even a first choice pick for his team in Sheffield shield?

Not everyone can be like Jaiswal who can start his test career at 20 and average 50+.

Its actually pretty clear that anyone who rates this hack has no understanding of Cricket.

The usual suspects who rate every breathing organism who can hit a six have done bhangra on this thread too.

The clown Van Gogh already called him the next great Australian batsman.

Jaiswal scored 170 odd in his first innings in wi and followed by another half century in next match .he was the top scorer for india in his debut series.sam scored 50 in 6 innigs and his stay at wickets was beyond pathetic. He can switch with another fraud t20 opener Fraser mckgurk in t20s . But as u said he is not fit for internationals.

I wont even discuss that Fraser hack. He is beyond pathetic.

Australia has good batting lineup for t20s, its the only format where Konstas can come in but even that will take some time.

Bishop dissected Sam's dismissals quite a bit.he was dismissed for 8 times lbw/bowled during u19 wc in wi.he got dismissed at 40 percent of same mode in aus first class season. It shows guy is not good technically and there is a lot to improve. Even on flat tracks, first few overs may do something due to new ball .A opener should not be so pathetic that he cant survive on flat tracks for few overs also.
