Karachi, Aug 22: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are all set to host Zimbabwe at home in October-November apart from starting off with their domestic season in a bio-secure environment to counter the COVID-19 threat.

"Dates are being finalised with Zimbabwe but tentatively they will come to Pakistan tentatively between October 10 to 15 and first remain in a two-week quarantine and have COVID-19 tests before starting their training," a PCB source informed on Saturday.

The source said that the PCB was presently busy in preparing the protocols for the biosecure bubble in line with government SOPs in the Covid-19 situation.

"The biosecure bubble will be applicable for both the international series against Zimbabwe, probably the remaining four matches of the Pakistan Super League 5 and the entire domestic season," he said.

Zimbabwe was originally scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20 internationals but they have now requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to arrange a few extra matches for them.

"Their ODIs are part of the ICC Super League Championship but they want to play some extra matches as well," he said.

Mamoon Over to you bhai :))) do your thing :))

Great. So Misbah and Waqar will become world beaters yet again and stay on for 6 months more at the least.

Malik and Hafeez will be our match winners. A repeat of the Bangla series and all will be well in Pakistan cricket.

The last time we clean sweeped Zimbabwe, we had the horror Asia Cup 2018

Great - this is more our level of opponent.

Watch the Abid Alis, Shan Masoods, Azhar Alis and Asad Shafiqs look like legends against this lot.

A job saving news for many :asadrauf

Tonight might be a party night

Do they give out cake tenders? I could ask my aunt to submit a proposal.

They will be needing the cakes for the 100s and birthdays.

We should play Zimbabwe every 2 years in Test series.

It could be the new Ashes.

It is not bad in a way because players can regain confidence.

Pakistan should give youngsters chances.

Time for Azhar Ali to show his class against a tough attack in tough conditions. Expect him and a few others to score big

Zimbabwe were humiliated by Ireland and Netherlands last year, losing 7 matches out of 9 against the two sides. Singapore also beat them once.

They will save a few jobs :misbah3

Mashallah great news.Time for youngsters like Azhar Asad fawad Sohail Abid Imran to gain some valuable experience against this tough opponent.I can't wait.

Should be a good series. :misbah3

Atleast teams touring has become a norm again.

This series would be a waste if the likes of Hafeez and Malik play. This is an ideal time to try out newer guys especially in LOIs.

We could see some tight games. Two teams of the same level.

Very much a possibility of some tight games.

If there are tests as well, it would be tough to call who will be the highest scorer. Will it be Brian Mudzinganyama, Azhar Ali or Asad Shafiq. :mou

Why waste so much money on Zimbos rather than using that for getting better pitches, balls and promoting the game in the country.

I am sure Hafeez and Malik will bail us out yet again and save us from humiliation :afridi

Because Wasim Khan, Misbah and co need a few wins to show the world how all is well and how great our talents are.

If our series only had been against top 5 ranked teams, Misbah and co would have lost their jobs in a few months.

apart from the regaining of form of tried tested failiures. This tour is going to be beneficial for us.

PCB will be able to train itself in making a series happen in a biosecure environment. This would be crucial if we have a PSL next year during Corona.

I'll take this series' way more seriously if we actually experiment with new players. I don't want Misbah to field the Avengers here.

:))) Gotta love PP morbid sense of humour in these dark times.

So no tests ...

*Azhar starts crying listening to sad songs......

My understanding is that it’s only a limited overs tour ! So no tests .

Zimbabwe has requested few extra matches so you never know life boat for Azhar, Asad and Co might appear it the increase is in the form of tests. Or maybe its just couple of more ODIs.

There are no test matches. Only Abid Ali has a chance of playing the games.

Probably just extra T20s. I doubt Zimbabwe would want to play tests and ODI Super League series' are only supposed to have 3 matches.

Good opportunity to try out some young guys. Sadly we'll probably see Hafeez and Malik all series long.

Yep. The easy series against minnows will be used to "give the seniors confidence" instead of giving chances to youngsters like every other team in the world.

That’s the perfect moral booster for PAK team currently playing Test in England & probably not enjoying much.

Lol, Pakistan has already lost an ODI and Test match against Zimbabwe under the legendary captaincy of Misbah ul Haq

I'll be cheering for Zimbabwe if Misbah is in anyway related to PCT!

I hope they whitewash us, at least we'll get rid of Misbah / Azhar and Asad "matchwinner" Shafiq.

Ah. Finally some competitive cricket. Expect some really close games. Azhar and co will have finished Ertrugul by then and the motivation will be on full display for all to see.

Testing domestic players and new players is what these minnow series should be used for. I don't even mind losing tbh but we need to try a lot of new players and look to the future

Malik and Hafeez will save us yet again in the limited overs format. What would we be without these messiahs?

Pakistan can use this as a Farewell series for all its seniors: Azhar, Asad, Hafeez, Malik, Yasir, Wahab, Junaid, Sohail khan, Sarfaraz, Fawad Alam etc. These seniors should be told in advance that this is it.

Woah Woah! Teams like Zim SL Windies will always be invited as these sort of teams are our standard. We will always be moving around in this 'mini' league because we're not a big fish for the top 5...yet.
However, we dont take ourselves seriously or have any self respect, if we did, we would field our second string side. And, because of this apparent lack of confidence, we will always be consigned to lower tier teams.

Good stuff, we are minnows and series against Zim, Ireland, Bangla, Afghanistan etc would be competitive for us.

Only positive I can think other than continuation of the revival of cricket is that Babar will be getting his first oppurtunity as ODI captain and will get some games under his belt as leader.

Not a bad idea actually.

Either do this or try youngsters.

Once the Zimbabwe series begins...

“They keep going on about the fab five, it’s the fab six and Azhar Ali is in that”: Nasser Hussain

The timing of this announcement could not have been more perfect. PCT has one of its worst on-field days in a long long time, and oh by the way, Zimbabwe will tour Pakistan next month.

Haha. Made me genuinely laugh. It's all one can do to cope in these dark times.

Instead of the Zim series, PCB should first prioritise one remaining test vs Bangladesh as it is part of the WTC.

Man we need to stop playing Zimbabwe so much. Our players act as if they are the Aussie team of the 2000s after beating down on these poor minnows so much.

Saj bhai on ... aag.
But I guess you have to play bottom ranked teams as well for the good of cricket.

Yeah tell India, Australia, and England to play Zimbabwe when’s the last time they played Zimbabwe. For the good of cricket? This is simply for the good of Misbah and everyone in the Pakistan Cricket team to feed on the poor minnow team and stat pad. We play these guys ever year or two. This is just too much!

Let's add some perspective here...

Pakistan as a result of exile and other reasons has played less cricket when compared to India, England & Australia.

Lots of cricketing greats took advantage and bolstered their personal bests against these teams.

Whilst I agree with a lot of the posters that a good series against Zimbabwe coukd paper over the cracks in management, I welcome this tour with both arms.

Triple century Babar and a 10 wicket haul for Naseem will go a long way for changing the image of Pak cricket.

Lahore likely to host Zimbabwe for ODIs, T20Is

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to host the entire white-ball format series against Zimbabwe here at the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium, ARY News reported.

Zimbabwe has confirmed their tour to Pakistan to play three ODIs and as many T20Is in a bio-secured environment.

Following the situation due to COVID-19, the PCB is considering hosting the tour on a single venue. The other option is Rawalpindi Stadium.

It must be noted here that Zimbabwe is scheduled to tour Pakistan in the third week of October. Both the boards currently are working to finalize schedule of the series.

On the other hand, the knock-out stage of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5 is also likely to take place in Lahore. Remember, play-offs and final of PSL 5 were postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak in the country in mid-March.

Assuming there will be no crowds? so the venue doesn't really matter.

Agreed perfectly to recap the whole squad

Bhangra season resumes.

Time for Naseem to see fear in batsmen’s eyes again.

They can't be playing Tests right?

Very unfair to give Asad and Azhar a free ride while others keep toiling in Pak domestic only getting chances in SENA countries.

Bhangra season resumes.

Time for Naseem to see fear in batsmen’s eyes again.

Everyone here will be creaming themselves after Naseems brilliant yorker to dismiss Tendai Chatara to seal his 5-fer.

There will be great talk and hype before he goes and shows his rawness against a top team.

With Misbah you never know, it could very well turn out to be a competitive series. Not to forget he has the honor of losing a test to bloody Zimbabve. :misbah3 :shezzy

At least Hawkeye will be happy - 'the good times about to roll again'. :asad1

In fact away teams usually do well in Pakistan because of the absolute roads there. That's why South Africa and India beat us in our last series against top ranked teams. Just don't think Zimbabwe is qualitatively good enough to beat us.

Like who ?

Why is this so controversial? It's part of the ICC scheduled series. It isn't like the PCB went out of it's way to schedule them.

Pakistan's home series against Zimbabwe likely to played at one venue

Karachi, Aug 25 (PTI) Pakistan Cricket Board is likely to hold the entire home series against Zimbabwe in November at one venue to ensure a bio-secure bubble for the players and officials amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

An official source in the PCB said that two venues are under consideration to host the Zimbabwe series and they are Lahore and Rawalpindi.

'Chances are that the board will host the entire white ball series against the visiting team in Lahore as this would allow it to create a proper bio-secure bubble,' the source said.

The Zimbabwe team has also been informed that when it reaches Lahore around October 10, it will have to remain in quarantine at the team hotel for 14-days and have at least three Covid-19 tests before it can start training for the series of three ODIs and three T20s.

The source said the PCB had taken a lot of information from the England and Wales Cricket Board on how to create and sustain the biosecure bubble as it strives to also start its domestic cricket season from mid-September.

England hosted the West Indies and Pakistan teams for a series this summer and played all the matches at just two venues, Manchester and Southampton, which have on-site accommodation.

'The PCB is also looking at just one venue to host the entire series against Zimbabwe.

'The PCB has also decided to host all the division one and two matches of the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament in Karachi where it has the facility of at least five first class grounds to host the matches.

'The bio-secure bubble is also going to be created for the domestic season and there will be severe penalties including bans and fines for any player (s) or official (s) breaching the bio-secure bubble environment,' the source added.

Man, series vs Zimbabwe aren't fun to watch at all.

Hopefully they actually give young players a shot instead. I don't need to see established batsmen or bowlers destroying Zimbabwe. Try some young players instead and this is a great way to debut some players and build up their confidence.
