KARACHI: A Hindu community's representative has claimed that 50 people of the community who went to India a month ago to visit holy sites were forced to make anti-Pakistan statements under duress by India's law enforcement agencies and are currently being held hostage, reportsThe News.

Lakhi Mal, who led a protest outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Monday, told The News that they firmly believe that the neighbouring country's intelligence agencies are pressurising the Hindu community to vilify Pakistan and have detained them illegally to embarrass Pakistan.

According to him, 50 members of his community, including men, women and children, went to India on February 3 to pay a visit to their holy places.

However, days after their arrival, the group allegedly made a case for Indian citizenship saying they were subjected to religious persecution in Pakistan. They had also alleged that Hindus were forced to convert to Islam in Pakistan.

"We firmly believe that our people have been kept hostage in India and that they were forced to issue statements about their alleged oppression in Pakistan," said Mal.

"We completely reject these accusations which were made under pressure of the Indian government. And we want to tell that we Hindus are living a peaceful life, and that we enjoy all the rights in Pakistan," said Mal.

This guy needs to make up his mind. At first he says that we are prosecuted in Pakistan and want to apply Indian citizenship, and later on adds that they enjoy peaceful life in Pakistan.

I mean what is it? If it’s peaceful life then why are you applying citizenship in India?

When/where did Lakhi Mal say that he is prosecuted and wants to apply for an Indian citizenship?

This is not good, it might please the Indian politicians to score some propaganda points, but for Hindus returning home it could inflame their Pakistani compatriots. Some care should be taken to protect the reputation of Pakistan's much loved Hindu minorities.

There seems to be a bit of confusion as the article isn't very well written but appears that Mal is saying the Pakistani Hindu group that went over to India were made to make anti-Pakistan statements under duress from the Indian authorities.

Further, he goes on to say he rejects these Indian attempts to malign Pakistan on behalf of the group and himself.

I pray and hope the group are safe and secure and returned to Pakistan safely and promptly.

Pakistan should take strict action if its citizen are being subjected to this in india. Maybe the news hasn't reached Imran Khan yet.

It would be weird if Pakistan made all Sikhs to chant anti India slogans when visiting kartarpur. India is a joke right now

As per Indian media reports hundreds of them are overstaying believing that they are eligible for Indian citizenship under CAA

India turning into an absolute basket case. Joke of a country.

Please remember to insert the word “fake” between Indian and media

You should ask your embassy to take necessary steps for the safe return of citizens if you're so concerned about their security. Your embassy officials had no issues in assisting over 2000 Muslim pilgrims who visited Rajasthan recently why are they not providing similar arrangements for hindu pilgrims.

Wait - so this guy is saying the Indian government is forcing them to make anti-Pakistani statements, yet they are applying for Indian citizenship. So is the Indian government holding them hostage and forcing them to apply for citizenship :))
