An inquiry has been initiated by local police after a Rs20 denomination currency note from Pakistan was discovered near a service lift at the Manas Lake Housing Society in Bhukum village, Pune district, India.
The note was found by the chairman of the residential society, Sahdev Yadav.
Residents promptly handed over the note to officials at the Bavdhan police station. The location of the society is approximately 18 kilometers from the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla.
“After finding the note, the residents of the society approached the Bavdhan police station. They submitted the note to us with an application to probe the matter. We have launched an inquiry. Based on the findings, further course of action will be decided,” said the in charge of the Bavdhan police station that comes under Pimpri Chinchwad station, Anil Vibhute said.
“The residential society has 84 flats. There is a CCTV camera installed next to the lift, but it has not been functional since last November 24.”
The police indicated that they will review additional CCTV footage from the area and take statements from local residents.
Currently, no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding the incident.
