Capitol Police say a suspect "rammed a vehicle" into officers at a vehicle access point to the Capitol complex in Washington

The suspect then got out of the vehicle holding a knife and ran towards officers

One officer has died of their injuries, another is hurt. The suspect died after being shot by police

Capitol police say the incident "does not appear to be terrorism-related"

Rip to the cop.

More madness from the US.

Capitol police say the incident "does not appear to be terrorism-related"

So basically the attacker isn’t Muslim, I am assuming this is probably related to the Qanon stuff. RIP to the officer.

Seems to be the case. Police press conference refered back to the Capitol riots.

Floyd trial is brewing more division, the verdict will anger one side or another, really sad to see.

This is probably a disgruntled trumper who lost his mind because Sleepy Joe Biden is the president.

hurray to the RW media (Fox, Newsmax, Rush Limbaugh show, etc) doing nothing but spewing hate and nonsense and divisive garbage 24/7 .. right down their audience’s throat!

Nice work! I’m sure more to come over the next four years...

Police deserve more respect. It's because of this BLM nonsense that good and honest cops are getting hate and attacked, and I am sick of it.

45 police officers were shot and killed in 2020, not much concern from the media. If you want ot go into statistics it looks like you are more likely to be shot if you are a police officer than anyone else. Could be time for a police lives matter march.

Everything becomes big news in the USA! No such thing as normal crime any more.

US Capitol: Police officer dies after car rams security barrier

An attack at the US Capitol complex in Washington DC has left one police officer dead and another in hospital with injuries.

A car crashed into a security barrier before the driver lunged towards the officers with a knife, police said.

The officers opened fire and the suspect was shot dead.

Authorities said the attack, which came three months after January's deadly Capitol riots, did not appear to be terrorism-related.

"Whether the attack was at law enforcement, or whoever, we have a responsibility to get to the bottom of it and we'll do that," Robert Contee, the acting chief of Washington DC's Metropolitan Police Department, said at a news conference.

Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said it was "with a very, very heavy heart that I announce one of our officers has succumbed to his injuries".

In a later statement, she named the officer as William "Billy" Evans, who had been a member of the Capitol Police for 18 years and was part of the department's first responders unit.

"Please keep Officer Evans and his family in your thoughts and prayers," she said.

What's happening to the last bastion of democracy?

We had the Capitol Hill attacks and now news that Pelosi's husband has been gravely injured due to a hammer attack?

==

Joe Biden has described the violent assault on US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband as "despicable" – as San Francisco's police chief has said it was "not a random attack".

Paul Pelosi, 82, is recovering from a skull fracture after he was attacked by an intruder with a hammer on Friday.

The intruder broke into the couple's home in San Francisco at around 2.30am, reportedly looking for the US House Speaker.

Police said officers were called to the house for a "wellbeing check" and arrived to find both men holding the hammer.

The suspect then pulled the hammer away from Mr Pelosi and used it to "violently assault" him, before being tackled by police officers.

At some point, the suspect searched for the Democratic leader shouting, "Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?"

'Despicable'

The US president sharply condemned the attack on Mr Pelosi and drew parallels between the attack on the House speaker's husband and the US Capitol riots.

Speaking at an event in Philadelphia on Friday evening, he said he had earlier spoken to Mrs Pelosi and she reported that her husband was in "good spirits".

He went on to address reports that the assailant had repeated the "same chant" heard during the 6 January 2021 riots.

"The chant was: 'Where's Nancy?'" Mr Biden said, calling it "despicable."

"There's too much violence, political violence," the president added, suggesting that election denialism and claims that COVID-19 was a "hoax" had eroded the political climate.

"Every person of good conscience needs to clearly and unambiguously stand up against the violence in our politics, regardless of what your politics are," he said.

Meanwhile, San Francisco Police Chief William Scott told a news conference that the attack on Mr Pelosi at their San Francisco home was "intentional".

He said: "This was not a random act. This was intentional. And it's wrong."

Mr Scott declined to comment further on a possible motive for the assault and said the investigation was ongoing.

Mr Pelosi was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery for a skull fracture and severe injuries to his right arm and hands, a spokesperson said.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

David Depape, 42, has been named by police as a suspect, and he was arrested at the scene.

He has been charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary and several other felony charges.

His motive has not yet been made clear.

Mrs Pelosi's spokesperson, Drew Hammill, said her husband had been attacked "by an assailant who acted with force, and threatened his life while demanding to see the Speaker".

'Dastardly act'

Mrs Pelosi, the Democratic speaker of the US House of Representatives, and second-in-line to the presidency, was in Washington DC at the time, having recently returned from a security summit in Europe.

Had she been at home, her security detail would have been present but Mr Pelosi is not eligible for this protection on his own.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement: "What happened to Paul Pelosi was a dastardly act.

"I spoke with Speaker Pelosi earlier this morning and conveyed my deepest concern and heartfelt wishes to her husband and their family, and I wish him a speedy recovery."

After the attack, the White House released a statement saying "the president is praying for Paul Pelosi and for Speaker Pelosi's whole family", adding he was "very glad" a full recovery was expected.

The attack is being investigated by San Francisco police, Capitol Police and the FBI.

It comes amid growing concern about the safety of America's politicians almost two years after the Capitol insurrection in January 2021, when Mrs Pelosi's office was ransacked.

Last year, Capitol Police investigated around 9,600 threats made against members of Congress from both parties - nearly a threefold increase since 2017.

The violent attack on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's husband comes with just over a week to go before the US midterm elections - a moment when political tensions are coming to the boil.

As if to emphasise this point, just a few hours after news of the assault on Paul Pelosi on Friday, the US government distributed a bulletin to law enforcement across the nation. It warned of a "heightened threat" of domestic violent extremism against candidates and election workers driven by individuals with "ideological grievances".

Also on Friday, the US Department of Justice announced that a man from Pennsylvania had pleaded guilty to making multiple phoned death threats against an unnamed congressman - reported to be Democrat Eric Swalwell of California. The threats included telling a staff member in the congressman's Washington office that he was going to come to the US Capitol with a firearm.

Pelosi hammer attacker shouted 'Where is Nancy?'
These wailing klaxons of a political system in peril come as Republicans and Democrats frame the upcoming midterm voting, which will determine which party controls Congress next year, as a pivotal moment in American history.

Republicans warn this is the last chance to put a check on Democrat Joe Biden's presidency. Democrats say American democracy itself is at stake because of the numerous Republican candidates who have refused to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election.

And the rhetoric comes at the culmination of what has been a steady drumbeat of violence - and violent threats - that has been building all year.

Death threats

In Arizona, there have been multiple reports of masked individuals with firearms staking out ballot drop boxes, ostensibly to monitor the sites for election fraud. They've posted photographs of individuals casting their ballots on right-wing social media sites and encouraged others to join their efforts.

In June, a man was arrested near the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. He had travelled to the Washington suburb from California and called police after he arrived to tell them he had a firearm and intended to kill the conservative justice.

The following month, Republican candidate for governor, Lee Zeldin, was attacked while on stage during a campaign rally. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, a liberal leader in the Democratic Party, was threatened by a man with a handgun outside her Seattle home. He was subsequently charged with felony stalking.

Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has had police respond to her home six times based on anonymous hoax calls. The practice, called "swatting", is used to try to provoke a confrontation between the target and law enforcement. She has also been the target of numerous death threats.

Partisan violence - and the threat of it - is nothing new in American politics, of course. The bloodiest recent attack occurred five years ago, when a man with multiple weapons opened fire on Republican politicians playing baseball at a city park. Five were injured, including one critically - second-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives, Steve Scalise of Louisiana. That, however, was an isolated incident.

Keeping politicians safe

Data provided by the US Capitol Police suggests a violent wave is building. The number of cases involving threats against members of Congress has increased every year since 2017. In the first three months of 2022, the department has documented more than 1,800 incidents.

In response, Capitol Police announced in July that it would cover up to $10,000 for security upgrades in the homes of congressional legislators.

There are 435 members of Congress, however. They regularly travel to and from their homes around Washington and from the nation's capital to their homes across the nation. A motivated individual fixated on violence will be able to find a way to strike against a targeted politician - or their family.

With Mrs Pelosi thousands of miles away in Washington, there was no police security provided for Mr Pelosi at their San Francisco home. He was not the intended target, but he became the victim.

Before the attack, the suspect is said to have asked, "Where is Nancy?" - the phrase harkening back to the 6 January assault on the US Capitol, when a man roamed the halls of the Capitol, calling out: "Where are you, Nancy? We're looking for you."

Politicians on both sides of the nation's partisan divide have expressed their sympathy for Mr Pelosi and called for a cooling of the rhetoric. It is a task that is easier said than done, however.

With a population encased in political bubbles of social media and news outlets that reinforce their existing political beliefs and fears, individuals will continue to be tempted by extremism and violence. And when they go looking for the politicians they read about and see on television - ones they are told are enemies of the nation and threats to democracy - they will be able to find them.

Four US Presidents have been shot dead, and at least two more shot non-fatally.

This is democratic violence so nothing to worry about!!:sendoff

This is nothing, IRA terrorists were on a mission to bomb UK politicians. 10 Downing Street and Brighton bombings are just few examples.

Welcome to Western democracy.

Nancy Pelosi has said she is "heartbroken and traumatised" by the violent attack on her husband.

The US House of Representatives speaker said her family was "grateful for the quick response of law enforcement" and for his medical care.

Paul Pelosi was struck with a hammer by a male assailant at the couple's San Francisco home on Friday.

The 82-year-old's condition "continues to improve" after the attack, Mrs Pelosi said.

He suffered a fractured skull and injuries to his right arm and hands, and remains in hospital receiving "life-saving" care, she said.

The suspect, David Depape, 42, is said to have demanded to see Mrs Pelosi - stoking fears about political violence in the run-up to the 8 November midterm elections.

The speaker - who was on the other side of the country in Washington DC at the time of the assault - flew back to see her husband in hospital.

In her statement, she said prayers and warm wishers were a comfort and were helping Mr Pelosi's recovery.

Police officers responded to a call at around 02:27 local time (09:27 GMT) on Friday.

They found Mr Pelosi and the suspect struggling over a hammer, but it was wrested from Mr Pelosi by the intruder, who violently assaulted him with it.

The suspect was tackled and disarmed by officers. He had attempted to tie up Mr Pelosi "until Nancy got home", law enforcement sources told CBS News. He reportedly shouted "where's Nancy?" during the incident.

He is also facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and several other felonies.

Mrs Pelosi, also 82, is one of the most powerful politicians in the country. She was re-elected to a fourth term as Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2021, making her second in line to the presidency, after Vice-President Kamala Harris.

The Baltimore native has represented the San Francisco area in Congress since 1987, and typically splits her time between California and Washington DC.

She is currently fundraising and campaigning with Democrats around the country ahead of the midterm elections.

Paul Pelosi is the multimillionaire founder of a venture capital firm and lives primarily in San Francisco, where he was born and raised.

The couple have been married since 1963 and have five children.

Members of Congress have been on high alert over security threats since the riot at the US Capitol in January 2021.

Mrs Pelosi's office in the building was ransacked by supporters of then-President Donald Trump during the riot.

US President Joe Biden has condemned the attack on Paul Pelosi and said "enough is enough" when it comes to violence in politics.

Yup, everything is being done to prevent Trump from returning, but little do the SJWs and Democrats realise, Trump is more than just a man, he is now an ideology.

Liberals and Democrats are not interested in cause, nope, they just love to blame.

Revolution around the corner in the West and every revolution in history has a pretext of austerity. Rightwing on the rise in Amreeka, UK, and Europe.

If only politicans and SJWs accept austerity is to blame. Well, let them focus on effect - Their loss, their fault, their ignorance, and any loss life is on their hands - guilty through and through.

Also, Liberals and Democrats who are upset/concerned because there is a rise of violence in Western politics will be the FIRST to support political violence and assassination of Putin and other self described despot leaders around the world.

So save the drama and hypocrisy.

Appears is a good term Robert.

The Capital attack had FBI agents dressed as civilians urging people to attack. Of course Trump supporters are angry for many reasons but they are no all dangerous bad people, all 70 million of them as senile Biden claimed.

Trump is not good for the Deep state of USA which controls everything , as he will want to make mends with nations esp Russia, which they dont want.

Capital riots did not have FBI agents dressed as civilians. That’s factually wrong.

Political violence has always been terrible in states historically ,it has been better for years now due to good Bipartisan relations only to be disturbed by Trump.

A man has been charged with attempting to kidnap senior US politician Nancy Pelosi and assaulting her husband.

The 42-year-old is accused of breaking into the couple's San Francisco home early on Friday and assaulting Paul Pelosi, 82, with a hammer.

He had been searching for the top Democrat and reportedly shouted "where is Nancy?" while inside the property.

But Mrs Pelosi, who is second in line to the presidency, was on the other side of the country at the time.

The motive is being investigated but police say it was "not a random act".

The Department of Justice charged the suspect, who has been named as David DePape, with two violations of federal law on Monday. These included one count of assaulting a family member of a US official in retaliation for the performance of their duties, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years.

He is additionally charged with the attempted kidnap of Mrs Pelosi, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years.

San Francisco's district attorney also brought six charges on Monday, including attempted murder and elder abuse, and added there may be further charges.

The attack appears to be "politically motivated", Brooke Jenkins said, and the suspect will face "parallel prosecutions".

The suspect had a roll of tape, white rope, a second hammer and zip ties in his possession when he was arrested, the justice department said. He had planned to hold Mrs Pelosi hostage and was going to break "her kneecaps" if she "lied" to him, according to court documents.

He also told police that if Mrs Pelosi was injured, then she would have had to use a wheelchair to enter Congress, which would send a message to other politicians.

The 82-year-old was in Washington DC but flew back to see her husband in hospital, where he underwent successful surgery for a skull fracture and injuries to his hands and right arm. The venture capitalist, who has been married to Mrs Pelosi since 1963.

Well new information available, making it seem as Mr Pelosi knew his attacker.

His house would have secret service protecting it but somehow a man managed to break in in the early hours of the morning?

Mr Pelosi on his 911 call stated its a 'friend'.

Two men in underpants fighting , known to each other but media twisted this into some sort of political attack by a Trump supporter, when his social media shows the opposite.

That’s just Trump fan conspiracy theory. These people aren’t very bright.

There are videos showing people urgning the attack and being called out as FBI agents. 'Youre a Fed' being shouted at more than one person(agent).

This attack too, Pelosis husband was having intimate relations with this man but spun into a political attack?

Its too late, Trump will win back the houses in the mid terms.

Strewth mate, I’ve been called a “fed” by people on the street. Just for dressing in a certain way and exhibiting certain body language.

These people are for the most part poorly educated without critical thinking skills. Add paranoia derived from watching too much Fox News and InfoWars. They believe any old nonsense.

There is a lot of evidence, you are free to do your own research. I dont think you'd ever encourage a crowd to use violence as the Fed did, even if you have been called one.

But lets stick to this stroy, do you believe the attacker DID NOT know Mr Pelosi and accept the version in the mainstream?

Although youre trolling as usual.

Please explain why the attacker allowed Pelosi to walk off to the bathroom to make the call?

Why did Pelosi say on the 911 it was a friend.

Why didnt the secret service stop him entering?

He never said he is my friend. There was no secret service. The police on video have debunked all the allegations you are claiming. And now even some right wing senators are shying away from their previous posts...

Another right winger Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin apologizes for making all the fake claims. At least he has apologized. Should stay away from Conspiracy theories..

Prominent figures on social media, including some of the loudest voices on the political right, are pushing a salacious and false conspiracy theory about the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, in an apparent attempt to shift the narrative about the assault.

The claim that big names like Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Jr., and Dinesh D’Souza have promoted to millions of their followers: Paul Pelosi and the man who attacked him were gay lovers who had gotten into a fight.

The spurious theory traces back to an incorrect early news report and a handful of pieces of evidence that its proponents have spun wildly out of context. It runs contrary to the explanation police and federal law enforcement have outlined – that the suspect in the attack, David DePape, broke into Pelosi’s house and attacked him.

“There is absolutely no evidence that Mr. Pelosi knew this man,” San Francisco Police Chief William Scott told CNN in an interview. “As a matter of fact, the evidence indicates the exact opposite.”

But the explosion of social media posts discussing the theory shows how quickly conspiracies can spread, and how eagerly some political actors use falsehoods to push their agendas – even as violent threats against lawmakers have multiplied in recent years.

CNN has obtained the driver's license photograph of David DePape, the man suspected of attacking Paul Pelosi at his San Francisco home.
Paul Pelosi suspect charged with attempting to kidnap House Speaker
A conspiracy linked to Nancy Pelosi, who has long been a lightning rod for conservatives and played a starring role in GOP attack ads, was an especially appealing target for right-wing conspiracists, according to Cynthia Miller-Idriss, an American University professor who studies polarization and extremism.

“We have a population that is unable to discern what is true and what’s not, and this spreading of misinformation from credible sources undermines that,” Miller-Idriss said. “People are willing to accept conspiracy theories when they reinforce the narrative they already hold in their head.”

According to police and an FBI affidavit included in the federal criminal complaint, DePape broke into a glass door in Pelosi’s San Francisco home early Friday morning, and then went to the bedroom to confront Pelosi, saying he wanted to talk to his wife. Pelosi managed to call 911, and officers arriving on the scene witnessed DePape hit him with a hammer.

Those pushing the “gay lover” theory have pointed to a handful of purported pieces of evidence based on falsehoods and twisted storylines. They say that DePape was in his underwear when police arrived at the scene – but the local TV station that originally reported that has since corrected its story and removed the assertion. Others have suggested that a third person opened the door to Pelosi’s house, but police have debunked that.

Many of the theorists have latched on to a recording of a 911 dispatcher saying that Pelosi referred to DePape as “a friend” and “sounded somewhat confused.”

But Pelosi seemed to be speaking in coded language on the 911 call to make clear he needed help, a law enforcement source previously told CNN. And the complaint notes that Pelosi told officers he had never seen DePape before.

The complaint also included an interview police did with DePape in which he admitted breaking into the house and said he surprised Pelosi. According to the complaint, DePape said that he wanted to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage because he viewed her as the “‘leader of the pack’ of lies told by the Democratic Party,” and claimed he was “fighting against tyranny without the option of surrender.”

Scott, the San Francisco chief, called the conspiracies surrounding the attack “pathetic” and “disturbing.”

“We’ve spent a lot of energy just pushing back, really ridiculous conspiracy theories, to make sure people stay focused on our team,” he said. “These things are harmful to society, they’re harmful to the victims involved – it’s really sad that we are here in this place, but we are.”

Baseless theory gains momentum on social media
Despite the lack of evidence, it took less than 24 hours after the attack for the “gay lover” theory to take root in right-wing social media circles.

There have been at least 19,000 tweets mentioning the words “Pelosi” and “gay” since the day of the attack, garnering a total of more than 700,000 likes, according to a CNN analysis – and that doesn’t include tweets referencing the theory without those words, or tweets that have since been deleted.

One of the first widely shared tweets endorsing the theory appears to have come at 11:36 a.m. on Friday, the day of the attack, gaining more than 2,700 retweets.

That evening, Raheem Kassam, a former Breitbart writer and co-host of Steve Bannon’s podcast, tweeted, “They’re still pretending it wasn’t Paul Pelosi’s gay lover,” earning over 1,000 retweets.

Other conservative figures like Donald Trump, Jr., Sebastian Gorka, and Dinesh D’Souza followed suit over the next few days, either explicitly endorsing the theory or referencing it approvingly. Rep. Clay Higgins, a Louisiana GOP congressman who sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, tweeted a photo of Nancy Pelosi and referred to DePape as a “male prostitute,” before deleting his tweet.

In an aerial view, San Francisco police officers and F.B.I. agents gather in front of the home of U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on October 28, 2022 in San Francisco, California. Paul Pelosi, the husband of U.S. Speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi, was violently attacked in their home by an intruder. One arrest has been made.
What we know about the attack on Paul Pelosi
Musk helped elevate the conspiracy to a much wider audience. On Sunday morning, the billionaire, who just completed his purchase of the social media network, responded to a tweet about the Pelosi attack from Hillary Clinton and wrote “there is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye.” He linked to an article in the Santa Monica Observer, an obscure website, claiming DePape was a male prostitute and Pelosi had been in a drunken dispute with him. The website has previously posted false news, such as a claim during the 2016 election that Clinton had died and been replaced with a body double for a debate.

Musk deleted the tweet around 2 p.m. later that day – but by then, it had already racked up more than 28,000 retweets and 100,000 likes.

Conservative figures gleefully praised Musk for sharing the post. “.@ElonMusk just posted a link that says Paul Pelosi may have been drunk and with a gay prostitute,” tweeted Lavern Spicer, a former GOP congressional candidate. “I have never respected him more than now.” Her message was retweeted more than 11,000 times.

Gene DePape, the alleged attacker’s stepfather, said it was dismaying to see his stepson turned into a character in a conspiracy theory and used as a political talking point. He told CNN he scrolled through his Facebook news feed for hours over the weekend, where he first saw the posts claiming his estranged stepson had been lovers with Pelosi.

“It’s pretty sick,” he said.

David DePape’s own social media and blog postings show that he himself was steeped in conspiracy theories in the months and years before the attack – from musings about QAnon to antisemitic rants to claims of a looming takeover by the global elite.

DePape’s posts on Facebook from last year endorse a litany of right-wing falsehoods. He posted multiple videos produced by My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell falsely alleging that the 2020 election was stolen, linked to websites claiming Covid vaccines were deadly, and shared videos questioning the January 6, 2021attack. CNN reviewed the posts before the social media company took the page down, and several of DePape’s relatives confirmed the page belonged to him.

On other blogs apparently written by DePape, he also posted antisemitic screeds and endorsed the QAnon conspiracy theory.

Some conservatives’ embrace of the “gay lover” theory has muddied the waters of a story that had led to bipartisan condemnation and sympathy for Pelosi – and distracted from discussion of how other right-wing conspiracies could have inspired violence.

Miller-Idriss, the American University professor, said that prominent figures carelessly spreading misinformation can lead to wider impacts on society.

“It’s dangerous because it undermines peoples’ sense of truth, it helps them further divorce from reality,” she said. “It is a situation where they spread it further – and they pass it on.”

Yes he was using coded language as he was in danger for his life. Get out of the basement, breath some fresh air. Almost everything you say is some conspiracy theory hatched in someone's basement

I dont support pakistan or india. I wish them both peace and I hope they prosper. You need to stop viewing the world through nationalistic/ religious lens.

have you heard it?

Its in the video I posted lol.

I dont support pakistan or india. I wish them both peace and I hope they prosper. You need to stop viewing the world through nationalistic/ religious lens.

Youre not a Pakistani if you dont support them. A troll or an traitor take your pick but judging by your debating skills, nothing for Pak to worry about.

Have you even seen the video? Please go watch it again and tell me exactly at what time is the : friend" recording g played. Dude please watch or read before you post. Journalistic standards are slipping.....

Yes I can. That is the coded langauge he is using as the guy is next to him. All this has been debunked. The senior Republican senators and governors ( the sane ones at least) have apologized for the conspiracy they spread at first. Yes Jessie Walters ( a joke of a journalist) and a guy sitting in his moms basement . Thats who I will listen to thanks. Hahahahahaha

First denial and later excuse.

The mobile was in the bathroom. Attacker let him go there, phone 911 was sat drinking a Bud. :))

Clearly Mr Palosi was into some fetish gay lifestyle, his gay mate attacked him ,both in their pants and now the Democrats backed by police are turning this into an Anti-Trump moment.

Attackers social media pages shows his ideology is opposite of Trump.

People who are still fooled by Iraq WMD will be fall for all their slave masters tell them.

Man we got some gullible people in this thread . Parroting Russia's propaganda, Like really ??? !!

Elon Musk and many other Americans feel the same , this story doesnt add up.

Are you a blind supporter of Biden?

Please explain why there were no secret service to protect her house? They are there today and have been on a daily basis for years.

I guess he did not get the memo hahahaha. Dude even the conspiracy theorist have abandoned ship on that one. Do catch up on your conspiracy news please.

The only Conspiracy theory is the attacker was a Trump supporter and the Republicans need to take some blame.

The rubbish the Democrats come out with is becoming very funny. First BLM, LGBT and now this.

Trump is winning and this is helping him.

He was a crazy dude who was into maga (. According to his employer and co workers). Yeah Elon musk. Champion of facts. I think even musk deleted that text. Are u not up to speed man ?

Just so we are clear. The Paul pelosi conspiracies have all been proved to be untrue. Even the republicans who were using them have apologized. The police chief video is out for all to see for debunking these stupid theories. His coworkers have said he was obsessed with maga. Elon musk deleted his previous posts. But yes please keep going ahead with it on this forum. Jesse walters and a guy in his moms basement . Those are great sources…. Hahhaha

Pelosi even knew his name was David when calling. Its David a friend he stated.

Whether one believes any story, to blame this on Trump and for election purposes shows how low these Democrats are.

I am sure there is evidence that people shouted “Fed” but none that there Federal agents incited an insurrection. FBI agents are sworn to defend the Republic, not try to overthrow it and kill the Vice President. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, not rumours in a paranoid crowd. If they really thought government agents were telling them to break the law, they would have refused to do so surely?

On the latter point - sure, he just wanted to get at Nancy.

Pure fantasies on here

Do yourself a favour and don't bother with Time Pass anymore. This used to be a very informative section that's descended into the sewers with baseless misinformation and poorly sourced claims.

Trump literally asked the officials in Georgia in 2020 to help him "find votes" to overturn his deficit - and people claim 2020 election was rigged AGAINST Trump !

Trump's lawyers launched over 50 lawsuits and each were dismissed:

Let's not forget the January 6th act of terrorism to prevent a transfer of power. And these people have the nerve to talk about democracy.

Anyway carry on with storytime folks.

No bro, not a fan of Biden . Still , I'd take anything Musk says with a pinch of salt. He is an attention seeker . I won't be surprised if twitter dies after they forced him to buy it . His mouth is writing checks that his *** has to cash . Re no secret service being there ; Pelosi gets secret service detail , when she is not there her family can deny sec service detail .That's probably what happened here . Pelosi OTOH can't say no to Sec service detail .

The man accused of a hammer attack on the husband of House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi also wanted to target other public figures, including actor Tom Hanks, a court has heard.

A police officer who interviewed David DePape told the hearing that President Joe Biden's son Hunter and Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom were also on the suspect's "hit list".

Mr DePape is facing six charges, including attempted murder, for the 28 October incident. He pleaded not guilty to all counts last month.

At the end of Wednesday's nearly four-hour hearing, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Stephen Murphy ruled there was enough evidence for the trial to proceed.

Officers testified about how they responded to the attack on Paul Pelosi at the family home in the California city.

According to prosecutors, the defendant had planned to hold Mrs Pelosi hostage, but she was in Washington DC at the time.

The emergency call placed by Mr Pelosi, 82, was played to the court.

According to KRON4 News, the 911 audio suggested Mr Pelosi did not know Mr DePape.

The dispatcher asked: "Do you know who the person is?"

"No, I don't know who he is," Mr Pelosi responded.

The court also saw police body camera footage in which officers directed the suspect to drop the hammer, before he said "Uh, nope" and bludgeoned Mr Pelosi.

Sgt Carla Hurley testified that she had interviewed the suspect for over an hour on the day of his arrest.

She told the court of Mr DePape's alleged hit list, but did not say whether police had any evidence of such a plot.

Sgt Hurley quoted Mr DePape as saying: "There is evil in Washington, what they did went so far beyond the campaign. It originates with Hillary [Clinton].

"Honestly, day in day out, they are lying. They go from one crime to another crime to another crime."

Nancy Pelosi's decades as a political powerhouse
Mr DePape attended the court wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. One of the Pelosis' five adult children, Christine Pelosi, also attended.

Police have previously said Mr DePape told them he was on a "suicide mission" when he smashed in the glass backdoor of the Pelosi home in the upmarket Pacific Heights neighbourhood.

Mr DePape is scheduled to be back in court for a formal reading of the charges on 28 December.

Police bodycam video has been released showing the moment a man attacked Nancy Pelosi's husband with a hammer in his San Francisco home.

Officers knock repeatedly on the front door - when it opens Mr Pelosi is holding the head of the hammer while the intruder is gripping the handle and trying to prise the 82-year-old's hand away.

Mr Pelosi refuses to let go, before the suspect suddenly seizes control and lunges at him with the weapon.

It's at this point Sky News has decided to stop the footage.

Police rush in, jump on the attacker and push him face down on the ground as Mr Pelosi lies motionless next to him.

The 28 October attack knocked Mr Pelosi unconscious and he had surgery to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his arm and hands.

Former US House speaker Nancy Pelosi, one of the most senior politicians in the US, was David DePape's intended target but was in Washington at the time.

A man suspected of attacking a congresswoman in the lift of her Washington DC apartment building on Thursday has been arrested, police say.

Angie Craig, a Minnesota Democrat, fought back by throwing hot coffee at the assailant, a police report says.

Kendrick Hamlin is accused of punching her and grabbing her neck.

The 26-year-old, of no fixed address, has been charged with simple assault. The case is not thought to be politically motivated.

Elected to Congress in 2018, Ms Craig, 50, is a mother-of-four and serves as co-chairwoman of the Congressional Equality Caucus.

She was attacked at around 07:10 local time (12:10 GMT) on Thursday, police say.

Her chief of staff Nick Coe said in a statement that she "defended herself from the attacker and suffered bruising, but is otherwise physically okay".

She called 911 emergency services and the "assailant fled the scene".

He said Ms Craig thanked DC Metropolitan Police Department "for their quick response and asks for privacy at this time".

Referring to the US Capitol attack, Stormy Daniels added, “He [Donald Trump] has already gotten away with inciting a riot, and causing death and destruction.”

The adult film star noted that what follows may cause mixed reactions. “Whatever the outcome is, it's going to cause violence, and there's going to be injuries and death…There's the potential for a lot of good to come from this. But either way, a lot of bad is going to come from it, too,” she was quoted as saying.

Could there be a violent backlash to a Trump arrest?

A leader of the far-right Proud Boys has been sentenced to 17 years in prison, one of the longest sentences yet handed out over the US Capitol riot.

Prosecutors said US Army veteran Joe Biggs, 38, was an "instigator" of the storming of Congress on 6 January 2021.
The former Infowars correspondent was convicted of seditious conspiracy and other charges in May.

In court, Biggs pleaded for leniency and expressed remorse for his actions.
The sentence, handed down by US District Judge Timothy Kelly, is below both federal sentencing guidelines and the 33 years sought by prosecutors

A Proud Boy who led the US Capitol riot by smashing his way into the complex with a police shield before he filmed himself puffing a celebratory cigar has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Dominic Pezzola, a 46-year-old former US Marine, fought with officers during the raid on Congress on 6 January 2021.

He was convicted of assaulting police and obstructing an official proceeding.

Another Proud Boy, Ethan Nordean, faces sentencing on a more serious seditious conspiracy charge on Friday.

A selfie video taken on the day of the riot shows Pezzola smoking what he described as a "victory cigar" in the Capitol building.

During Friday's sentencing, an emotional Pezzola expressed some remorse for his actions. His wife, daughter and mother all addressed the judge, with his mother describing him as having been a "wonderful child" that "never gave me any trouble".

Pezzola's wife said that her daughters have become victims of harassment and bullying at school.

But once the prison term had been handed down and the judge had left the room, Pezzola shouted: "Trump won!"

The Proud Boys - which started as a "drinking club" seven years ago - saw themselves as Donald Trump's foot-soldiers and were among the first to march on the Capitol on the day of the riot.

Trump supporters overran police lines and stormed the building in a bid to prevent Congress from ratifying Joe Biden's election victory.

Pezzola and Nordean went to trial alongside three other members of the organisation, including former chairman Enrique Tarrio and US military veterans Joe Biggs and Zachary Rehl.

On Thursday, Biggs and Rehl were sentenced to 17 and 15 years in prison respectively.

Ex-Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio jailed for 22 years for Capitol riot

The Proud Boys' former leader has been jailed for 22 years for orchestrating the US Capitol riot, the longest sentence so far for a ringleader of the raid on the seat of American democracy.

Henry "Enrique" Tarrio was convicted of seditious conspiracy, a US Civil War-era charge, and other counts in May.

Tarrio, 39, was not in Washington during the riot, but helped organise the far-right group's involvement.

More than 1,100 people have been arrested on Capitol riot charges.

Before he learned his fate on Tuesday, an emotional Tarrio apologised to police and residents of Washington DC for his role in the 6 January 2021 riot, when supporters of then-US President Donald Trump stormed the congressional building as lawmakers met to certify Joe Biden's election victory.

"I am extremely ashamed and disappointed that they were caused grief and suffering," he told Washington's federal courthouse. "I will have to live with that shame for the rest of my life."

Tarrio, wearing an orange jail uniform, added: "I was my own worst enemy.

"My hubris convinced me that I was a victim and targeted unfairly."

Acknowledging that Mr Trump had lost the November 2020 presidential election, Tarrio said: "I am not a political zealot. Inflicting harm or changing the results of the election was not my goal.

"I didn't think it was even possible to change the results of the election."

Peter Navarro: ex-Trump adviser convicted of contempt of Congress

Peter Navarro, who was a trade adviser to former President Donald Trump, has been convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to co-operate with an inquiry into the US Capitol riot.

Prosecutors said Navarro acted "above the law" by ignoring a subpoena from a congressional investigation.

He faces up to a year in prison for each of the two contempt counts.

Another key Trump ally, former strategist Steve Bannon, was convicted last year of contempt of Congress.

Outside the court in Washington DC on Thursday, Navarro said it was a "sad day for America", vowing to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court.

"This is the first time in the history of our republic," he said, "that a senior White House adviser, an alter ego of the president, has ever been charged with this alleged crime."

He argued that the Department of Justice had had a policy for more than 50 years that senior White House advisers could not be compelled to testify before Congress.

"Yet they brought the case," Navarro said.

He was found guilty by the 12-member jury after four hours of deliberations, following a trial that lasted two days.

But he did not hand over any of the requested emails or documents or appear to testify before the Democratic-led panel.

The committee had hoped to question Navarro about efforts to delay certification of the 2020 election, according to a former staff director for the panel who testified in court.

Navarro was indicted in June 2022 and arrested by FBI agents at a Washington airport as he was boarding a flight to Nashville, Tennessee.

During their closing arguments, prosecutors said Navarro chose his allegiance to Mr Trump over complying with the subpoena.

"That is contempt. That is a crime," prosecutor Elizabeth Aloi told the court.

Navarro's lawyer, Stanley Woodward, presented little evidence during the trial and instead sought to discredit the prosecutor's case that Navarro had deliberately ignored the subpoena.

Donald Trump accused of 'inciting political violence' after posting video with an image of Joe Biden hog-tied

Donald Trump has faced fresh criticism after posting a video showing an image of President Joe Biden hog-tied on the tailgate of a passing pick-up truck.

The footage has fuelled accusations the Republican candidate is "inciting political violence" in the run-up to the presidential election, amid increasingly inflammatory rhetoric.

The former US president posted the video on his social media site, Truth Social.

According to the caption it was taken in Long Island, New York, on Thursday, when Mr Trump attended the wake of a New York City police officer who was gunned down during a traffic stop.

The posted video shows a passing truck decked out with "Trump 2024" and flags claiming support for police, with the picture of Mr Biden with his hands and feet bound painted on the rear of the vehicle.

Referring to Mr Trump's efforts to overturn his defeat in the 2020 election that culminated in the storming of Congress, Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign's communications director, said: "Trump is regularly inciting political violence and it's time people take him seriously - just ask the Capitol police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on 6 January."

But hitting back, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said: "That picture was on the back of a pick-up truck that was travelling down the highway.

"Democrats and crazed lunatics have not only called for despicable violence against President Trump and his family, they are actually weaponising the justice system against him."

In his bid to regain the White House, Mr Trump has ramped up the vitriol.

Speaking at an Ohio rally earlier this month while talking about the impact of foreign competition on the US motor industry, Mr Trump warned: "If I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath for the whole - that's going to be the least of it.

"It's going to be a bloodbath for the country."

Mr Trump has also talked about immigrants "poisoning the blood of our country" and has described his enemies as "vermin".

At one recent rally, Mr Trump went so far as to brand Mr Biden's handling of the contentious Mexico border issue as "a conspiracy to overthrow the United States of America".

Last year, before his indictment in New York over hush money paid on his behalf during his 2016 campaign, Mr Trump posted a photo on social media of himself holding a baseball bat next to a picture of District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

In a 2018 speech, Mr Biden discussed lewd comments that Mr Trump had made about women and signalled his willingness to physically fight the then president.

He said at the time: "If we were in high school, I'd take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him."

Earlier this week, shares in Trump Media & Technology Group Corp, the company behind Truth Social, soared on their stock market debut in New York, with the valuation adding billions of dollars to the tycoon's fortune.

Democratic state politician and husband shot dead in targeted attack, Minnesota officials say

Minnesota state politician Melissa Hortman, a Democrat, and her husband were shot and killed in their home early on Saturday morning, Governor Tim Walz says

State Senator John Hoffman, also a Democrat, and his wife were targeted in their home in a separate shooting. They were shot multiple times and are out of surgery, Walz adds

Walz says the attacks "appear to be a politically motivated assassination" and a manhunt is under way for a suspect

The suspect in the Hortman shooting was impersonating a police officer - using a police "badge and uniform" and driving a car that looks like a "police vehicle", police say

Minnesota Superintendent Drew Evans said officers received a call at 02:00 local time regarding the incident involving Hoffman and his wife.

Evans said another call was placed to police at 03:35, when officers were proactively checking on Hortman

Police then exchanged gunfire with the suspect at Hortman's home, but he managed to escape, Evans said

Authorities warn people in the Brooklyn Park area not to answer their door for a police officer unless there are two officers together.

Manhunt after two Minnesota state politicians targeted, one of them killed

A manhunt is under way in Minnesota after two state lawmakers were targeted and one of them killed on Saturday morning in what Governor Tim Walz called an "act of targeted political violence".

Melissa Hortman, 55, a Democrat, and her husband were killed in Brooklyn Park, a city near Minneapolis.

John Hoffman, 60, also a Democrat, and his wife were shot several times at their home about 15km (nine miles) away in a related attack. He is out of surgery and stable.

A search is on for the suspect who police say was impersonating an officer. He has been named as Vance Luther Boelter, 57 and there is a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

He served on the state's workforce development board with Hoffman, a state senator, but officials are still investigating whether he knew either politician.

Police said he tricked his way into the victims' homes using a false badge and uniform and was even driving a car that looks like a police vehicle equipped with emergency lights.

The first emergency call was made at 02:00 local time regarding the incident involving state senator Hoffman and his wife.

Then another call was placed to police at 03:35, which led officers to check on House Speaker Hortman.

The police exchanged gunfire with the suspect at Hortman's home, but he managed to escape.

Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said police are engaged in an "extensive manhunt" alongside the FBI, SWAT and hundreds of police officers. He said police took the suspect's car and believe he is travelling on foot.

Authorities are warning people in the area not to answer their door for a police officer unless there are two officers together.

Elected officials across the state were put on alert and "No Kings" protests against President Donald Trump were called off after flyers for the demonstrations were found in his car.

In a statement, Trump said "such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America," and authorities would be "prosecuting anyone involved to the fullest extent of the law".

Bob Jacobson, the state's commissioner of public safety, said public servants have been "targeted in a violent and cowardly way".

Saturday was a "dark day" for Minnesota, but "we will not allow fear or violence to define who we are or how we move forward", he said.

Walz activated the State Emergency Operations Center - used for managing disasters or emergencies - in response to the shootings.

The governor said Minnesota had lost a "great leader and I lost the dearest of friends".

He called Hortman "a formidable public servant, a fixture and a giant in Minnesota", saying "she woke up every day determined to make the state a better place".

Former Vice-President Al Gore also paid tribute to Hortman, who briefly worked for him while he was a member of the US Senate.

"Though she was only there for a short time, she had a lasting impact," said Mr Gore. "There is absolutely no excuse for political violence."

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi added in a statement that she was "heartbroken" by the targeted shootings.

"This climate of politically-motivated violence must end," said Mrs Pelosi, whose husband was attacked during a politically-motivated break-in at their home in 2024.

Hortman, an attorney, was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2004, and served as House Speaker from 2019 to 2025.

She "led efforts to protect women's rights, invest in clean energy, and secure free school lunch for kids", said US Senator Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota, in a statement.

In 2020, she became an advocate for policing reform in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, successfully helping to enact a state ban on police choke holds that caused Floyd's death at the hands of Minneapolis police.

She had two children. Her husband, Mark, was also killed.

Man suspected of shooting Minnesota lawmakers arrested after huge manhunt

A 57-year-old man has been arrested in the US state of Minnesota on suspicion of killing a Democratic state lawmaker and her husband.

The arrest on Sunday night was the culmination of a huge two-day manhunt following the deaths of Melissa Hortman, a Minnesota Democrat, and her husband Mark. State Governor Tim Walz called it a "politically motivated assassination".

Police said Vance Luther Boelter was armed at the time of his arrest in a rural area west of Minneapolis, but surrendered peacefully when challenged.

He is also alleged to have shot and wounded Democratic State Senator John Hoffman, and his wife Yvette, who are both now awake in hospital.

Mrs Hoffman said on Sunday that both felt "incredibly lucky to be alive", as they had been hit by 17 bullets between them.

She and her husband had been "gutted and devastated" by the Hortmans' deaths, Mrs Hoffman added in her statement. "We have no words," she wrote. "There is never a place for this kind of political hate."

Mr Boelter faces two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree attempted murder. He is due to appear in court in Minneapolis at 13:30 local time (14:30 EDT; 18:30 GMT) on Monday.

The suspect is a former political appointee and was once a member of the same state workforce development board as John Hoffman. However it is unclear if they actually knew each other.

Police have not suggested what the alleged killer's motive might have been, but state senator Amy Klobuchar has joined Governor Walz in suggesting the attacks were politically motivate.

Officials said on Sunday that Vance Luther Boelter was detained after investigators found a car he had used in Sibley County, about 50 miles (80km) from the murder scene in Brooklyn Park.

Air and SWAT teams were deployed to arrest the suspect, following a huge manhunt that was described as the largest in Minnesota's history.

No police officers were injured during his apprehension, and officials said they were not looking for any other suspects. Mr Boelter's wife was earlier detained in a traffic stop, but was released because she co-operated with investigators.

Speaking at a press conference with other local officials on Sunday night, Governor Walz said the attack was an "unspeakable act" that had "altered the state of Minnesota".

"This cannot be the norm. It cannot be the way that we deal with our political differences," Walz said.

State Mayor Jacob Frey praised the "skill and bravery" of law enforcement agencies following the suspect's arrest. "Political violence is abhorrent," he added.

Vance Luther Boelter is accused of impersonating a police officer to carry out the attacks on Saturday, before exchanging fire with police officers and fleeing from the suburban area.

Minnesota suspect attempted to kill two other state lawmakers, officials say

A man who is accused of killing a Democratic state lawmaker and her husband, and injuring another state lawmaker and his wife, allegedly attempted to kill two other state lawmakers, Minnesota officials said on Monday.

Vance Luther Boelter, 57, who is charged with fatally shooting Melissa Hortman, a Minnesota Democrat, and her husband, Mark, visited the homes of three other state lawmakers in "truly chilling" attacks, US Attorney Joseph H Thompson said.

Mr Boelter, who police said researched the victims and their families beforehand, allegedly had planned for a larger scale attack, which police thwarted.

He appeared in court on Monday afternoon to face six federal charges, and possibly the death penalty, if he is found guilty.

Mr Boelter was wearing an orange jumpsuit when he arrived in court in St. Paul on Monday afternoon. He said he cannot afford a lawyer and will have a federal defence lawyer.

At the brief hearing, Mr Boelter said he has seven cars, $20,000-30,000 in savings and makes about $540 per week.

At a press conference on Monday officials walked through the early hours of Saturday morning in the suburbs of Minneapolis when the Hortmans were killed, and John Hoffman, a Minnesota state senator, and his wife, Yvette Hoffman, were shot multiple times.

They also announced that Mr Boelter faces six federal charges, some of which make him eligible for the death penalty. At the federal level, he faces two counts of stalking, two counts of murder, and two firearms-related charges.

Separately, at the state level Mr Boelter is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder at the state level.

Thompson said that Mr Boelter arrived at the Hoffman home disguised as a police officer in a large black car with emergency lights on the vehicle. Mr Boelter was wearing a "hyper realistic silicon mask" when he rang the doorbell and shouted "this is the police, open the door".

Thompson said authorities have a clear picture of what happened because the Hoffmans have a security camera outside their front door.

When the Hoffmans opened the door, Mr Boelter shined a flashlight at the couple. Mr Boelter told the couple there was a shooting reported in the house and lowered his flashlight, Thompson said. The couple then realized he was not a police officer.

After they attempted to push him out, he allegedly fired at the couple multiple times, Thompson said, then fled the scene and the couple's daughter Hope called 911.

Yvette Hoffman was shot eight times and John Hoffman was shot nine times. Both remain in hospital, though Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has said they are expected to make a full recovery.

After allegedly shooting the Hoffmans, Mr Boelter drove to another state representative's home and rang the doorbell there, Thompson said.

That state representative was not home, Thompson said, noting that she and her family were on vacation. Authorities did not reveal her name.

He then drove to a third lawmaker's home, allegedly targeting them, Thompson said. Officials did not reveal the name of that state lawmaker, either.

Thompson said an officer pulled up next to Mr Boelter in his vehicle and assumed he was a police officer, dispatched to the scene to perform a wellness check on that lawmaker.

When the officer asked Mr Boelter what he was doing, he simply stared straight ahead, Thompson said, and Mr Boelter went on to the Hortman residence.

He is accused of arriving at the Hortman home, and allegedly shooting and killing Melissa and Mark Hortman. Police said they found him at that residence and engaged fire before Mr Boelter fled.

After he fled, police embarked on a two-day search for Mr Boelter before finding him late Sunday night in a wooded rural area west of Minneapolis, where he surrendered peacefully, eventually crawling towards officers, police said.

Thompson said Mr Boelter had "planned his attack carefully".

"He conducted surveillance of their homes and took notes about the location of their homes," he said of Boelter.

Upon finding his car, officials discovered five more firearms including assault-style rifles, large quantities of ammunition and a list of more than 45 Minnesota state and federal elected officials, including Melissa Hortman.

Mark Bruley, police chief from Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, said the officers who arrived at the Hortman home "foiled" a larger plan. They "essentially took (Mr Boelter's) vehicle away from him, which involved all his maps, all his names, all his weaponry", Mr Bruley said.

"I would be very scared what it would look like over the next few hours ahead had we not done that," he said.

"It's a chilling attack on our democracy, on our way of life," Thompson said at the Monday press conference. "It's only the most recent example of violent political extremism in this country, and that's a trend that's been increasing over in recent years, and that's unfortunate.

I hope it is a wake up call to everyone that people can disagree with you without being evil or needing to be killed or hurt."

Mr Boelter is scheduled to return to court for his next hearing 27 June.
