Karachi Kings, whether they will win or lose, they will still stick with Sharjeel, Amir, Imad, Aamir Yamin in the team and Wasim Akram as their President

Quetta Gladiators, whether they will win or lose, they will stick with Sarfaraz as their captain and Moin Khan as their coach. When Nadeem Omar has been asked about this, his standard response has been that Sarfaraz and Moin's contributions to the franchise deserve respect. Quetta has had 3 consecutive poor PSL seasons in a row.

The end result is that these two franchises brand value end up taking a hit and they can't even attract fans to the stadium.

Surely the PCB must have something in the contracts to specify certain conditions being met.

A few years ago, I suggested fining the franchise that comes last to make them think twice about not winning games.

A better solution would be to distribute the central pool kitty based on the Final PSL Season points table with the top franchise getting the line share of the proceeds and the others based on their position in the points table. That should give the Franchises a much needed kick up the back side.

A franchisee spends millions on his team. It will be difficult for any board to tell them who they play or employ.

The only thing PCB can do us to provide financial incentive.

I surprised that that doesn’t happen already. There. also needs to be greater media scrutiny over the performances of the bad teams.

PCB can not even implement more teams in the PSL let alone tell a franchise what they can or can not do.

It's not just players or coaching staff.

Behind the scenes also, PSL is by and large a clique where it's a case of who you know that matters.

Even behind the scenes you have people given senior roles in the PSL who have no clue and are there because they are friends or related to PCB hierarchy.

Regarding the franchise rights, I’m sure that these franchise owners don’t hold the right in perpetuity. Once the contract term runs it’s due, perhaps we may see new owners?

The flip side is that all these franchises will focus on short term success like KK and may not be inclined to have any pdp programs of their own. It’s a bit of a double edged sword.

Najam Sethi speaking in presser:

"There were no plans for an opening ceremony when I took over the office on December 22nd. When asked why there hasn't been a strategy for the opening ceremony yet, and why there hasn't been a budget set aside for branding?

"They only kept a small amount for branding. I was astounded at how a magnanimous brand like PSL was treated like an orphan"

How does opening ceremony equate to branding? It's a one-off extravaganza with no influence over popularity of PSL.

How does that make sense. Its a tournament someone will come last. Why would you fine them for that

So many cheerleaders in the camps instead of sepcialized people who can actually help. None of the teams looks professional , there is so much money involved yet we dont see the quality because of poor selections.

The Anthem, Opening Ceremony makes a big difference to the league. A good Anthem, Opening Ceremony creates the necessary spark and hype for the season and leaves the viewers with good memories. Excellent Decision by Sethi to reinvigorate the PSL.

When you don't have a relegation system, then franchises will just hang around and make no radical changes to win the tournament.

There needs to be some penalty for being last.

I believe the Central Pool Revenue share needs to be allocated in accordance with the PSL points system

Yes - something of that sort.

So Owners start worrying about it.

I think some of the franchises are in the comfort zone knowing that they won't be replaced.

That can mean that they won't push themselves to the level of LQ and MS which could be an issue.

If you guys think franchises will take penalty or relegation and still continue to be a part if the league then you are headed for disappointment. In franchise cricket it doesn't work that way, these are all businessmen and they are here for profits. Get that clear.

Is that really for certain? Because the original franchise license was for 10 years in total. Given how much the PSL brand had grown, there will surely be other financiers that would jump at the opportunity to take over in 2026.

Anyhow, if a regional model is brought in, that’ll put more emphasis on Franchises to market and run themselves better. Right now it’s just an even split of revenue, with the only ££ differentiator being prize money.

PCB should also look at the franchises plans for the coming years in terms of youth development, talent hunts, academies etc.

Exactly. I feel, in terms of negotiating leverage, the PCB has given too much away to the franchises in recent years. Given the upcoming license fee re-negotiation, they need to add in these extra investment clauses into any new agreement.

According to sports reporters who are close to the Franchise Owners, the Franchise owners are not just motivated by money only. They are basking and enjoying the glory, spot light from the fans and they have leveraged their franchises to their other businesses and activities. When these Franchise owners complain of losses, they don't talk about the revenues, gains they have made from their other activities.

Some of the Franchises have only just started to understand how they can leverage their Franchises for eg Lahore Qalandars is now aggressively involved in Player Development Programs, Academies and are now getting into the Property Business ie Qalandars City

Peshawar Zalmi has also launched their clothing line, perfumes and are now thinking of getting into the restaurant business. Inzamam confirmed in an interview that they too will now be following Lahore Qalandars model of academies, player development programs.

This is a lame comparison, the retired players are mostly facing spin bowlers and medium pacers bowling 115-120 km/hr cutters. It is a totally different ball game in the PSL facing 140-154 km/hr pace.

They could've built the Qalandars city outside the boundary fence. There is that much space available at Qaddafi stadium.

lol ... as if LLC batsmen are in their prime as well?
use basic common sense.

gaddfis green surface is 190 x 180m, its one of the largest green surfaces in cricket. yes the psl had some ridiculously small boundaries, but your comparison with some tiny looking random stadium is wrong.

I think the visuals should've told you something but as we saw, PSL had 57 meter boundaries - while LLC had 65 to 70 meter boundaries for those old and retired legs and feeble batsmen who are out of practice for years.

PSL boundaries were a true shame!

I see that as a very positive development. Growth creates jobs

Some franchises talk a lot but do very little.

Other franchises say nothing and do nothing.

Some ownerd and franchises are coasting along.

Lol exactly. PSL is no different to any other besharam league and was never designed for anything other than $$$.

Nadeem Omar, who owns Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators, has been elected (un-opposed) as president of Regional Cricket Association (RCA) Karachi.

The election process in Karachi, one of the biggest cricket regions, has been completed with Nadeem and company sweeping seats in majority of the zones.

Javed Ahmed Khan has been elected (un-opposed) as secretary.

According to the notification issued on June 7 by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Nadeem will be the president of Karachi cricket for next three years.

Outside PSL do these franchises have any identity looks like they hibernate for 49 weeks
