A lot of criticism has hit the team in the aftermath of the Champions Trophy loss to India but let's look at what Pakistan have possibly gained.

1. Shaheen was bowling with real pace in
the match against India and he may be back to his best soon.

2. Khushdil's performances with the bat in both matches

3. Abrar may not turn the ball much but bowls very well within limitations and keeps it tight.

4. When Saim and Fakhar return, this team will be much stronger

Rizwan and Babar to be kicked out.

One more opportunity for Azam Khan

Shadab Khan to return as skipper.

Saqlain will be appointed spin coach

Faheem will get a regular spot now.

Saim Ayub will be free from influence of his mentors RizBar.

Naseem Shah will spearhead the attack.

Imam ul Haq to field at 3rd man with SSA axed.

Khusdil should stay, he has improved againts pace. He is a proper fighter down the order in domestic, win matches after 4 down. In past he had weakness but now looks like he has improved.

Babar produced a masterclass in the first match while Rizwan produced a masterclass in the second match.

Positive is that we got knocked out early and not made it through kudrat ka nizam - otherwise further humiliation

Are you kidding me?

Pakistani players are horribly inconsistent. These players you have mentioned in the OP are now tried and tested failures. Even they cannot predict or know when they will have a decent game. These players will fail 9 times out of 10 and when a team is filled with players who fail 80% of the times, being ranked at the bottom of the rankings should not come off as a surprise.

Sorry. Khusdil is a hack, he cannot play spin to save his life, he cannot deal with changes of pace to save his life, his fielding and fitness is horrible and his bowling is innocuous, he is a 5th-6th bowler at best. This is a player who broke down during a game in the dressing room because of getting booed by the crowd for his continuous failures.

Domestic Cricket is his maximum ceiling.

Needs to play Faheem for a masterclass against Bangladesh. He made his name against them in a warm up game back in the day and I have been a fan ever since.. Rana jee kar ke Aaega

Which match did they win? Shaheen, Khushdil & Abrar ?
at this level you need far more than just pace. The only match we won was the tri-nation against SA in that match it was Rizwan and Salman. Even in that match the bowling failed.

None of these going to happen..PCB is a washing machine which rinse the old clothes even if it is torn and present to you as a new one

Babar needs to go, and we need to push some heavy PR campaigns to make people forget he was ever a role model.

We need players like Fakhar to be our role models. His one innings against New Zealand in the WC is worth more than anything Babar has ever produced or is capable of producing.

I would say Abrar can be a reliable middle overs bowler…

May not spin the ball a whole lot but can keep it tight with a few wickets

Fakhar the role model who broke down two overs after returning just a few months ago?

No thank you

He is on his last legs.

It’s a sad indictment of the system where you are still relying on Fakhar to win you games, while others are busy playing for themselves.

Enough is enough, we really need to change the narrative.

Sorry but Shaheen is garbage..

I called it out 3 years ago when he got hammered by Matthew Wade who scooped him like a club bowler..

I mentioned it on PP but got laughed and criticized… well no one is laughing now :)

A nothing bowler who has been living off a fluke inswinging Yorker for the entirety of his career.

Goodbye and good riddance

@mominsaigol @Rana

You are being biased and only remembering the good times..

What about been Fakhar couldn’t score a run to save his life during the 2022 Asia Cup, 2022 WorldT20, 2023 Asia Cup and then got dropped after the first game of the 23WC against Netherlands lol

This essentially tells me how as fans we are running around in circles. Not too long ago many of us were calling for Shadab's head saying he is a nothing bowler and a hack batsman. Now we are advocating for going back to him.

Running around in circles means we as fans (me included) are a bit clueless (this is our best case) or that we are forced to run in circles because there simply are no real options or bench strength (cold harsh truth probably).

Pakistan completed the tournament with no incidents and administrative failures so far . That should be the biggest takeaway and credit where due. 1-2 goofups like playing the wrong national anthem etc is not even a big deal or issue and overall well done. That’s a win + learn

Which match did they win? Shaheen, Khushdil & Abrar ?
at this level you need far more than just pace. The only match we won was the tri-nation against SA in that match it was Rizwan and Salman. Even in that match the bowling failed.

You need the right combination to win. This team is without Saim Ayub who can transform this team being the 3D player he is. Pakistan won in SA and OZ when they had Saim.

Exposed Babar and Rizwan. It's what these frauds deserve. There are too many Pakistan fans who take the rankings and ICC awards at face value and it was about time they received a reality check.

Speaking of which, @heddie19 - could you remind me of Babar's accomplishments again?

Sheer embarrassment. One of the most embarrassing if the not the most given the political background going into this tournament as hosts.

Hosting the tournament and the first team to go out of the tournament
Out of the tournament as hosts and got knocked out by your arch rival which (tried to) sabotaged your hosting rights

Lost the chance to knock out your arch rivals and win the tournament.
No positives actually for Pakistan.

Total Obliteration of the highest order.
Got to be the worst

Everybody needs to calm down regarding Khushdil. He is a very very very poor batsman. Like someone said, domestic cricket is his ceiling. He cannot play bowling that is below 130 kph and struggles against any sort of changes in pace. He has one shot and his off-side is non-existent. Any team can put 4 fielders on the leg-side, give him a slow ball, and you'll find it in the hands of a fielder right away. His limitations are too obvious and teams have already figured him out

You are right. His backlift, downswing all over the place slightly refined version of Usman khan.

Yaar please bandh karo! There are no positives for PCT now. This is the reality.

ICC awards have a significance when the top players from teams participate in a sufficient number of games in that format. In 2021, when Pakistan dominated the awards, it was largely attributed to many teams fielding weakened sides due to the instability in world cricket caused by the pandemic. Rankings particularly in T20Is are a farce, considering cases like Ravi Bishnoi being ranked as the no.1 bowler last year when he was not even India's first choice as a strike spinner. This is a format where top teams keep rotating players and Babar-Rizwan play every match. But some fans refuse to see all this. Honestly, Pakistan fans nowadays behave like Bangladesh fans.

I am surprised with how well Abrar has bowled so far in the tournament but again except for him there has been 0 positives for Pakistan. It will be cutting them a slack if fans or the management looked for positives. This has been shambolic from the Pakistan team and they need to realise that.

We get knocked out of another ICC tournament before the 3rd game, each game against India tournament in and tournament out gets easier and easier for India where they make us look like Namibia and where the Indians were mocking us just to get Kohli another hundred against us, our best batsmen has a mental block where he can’t get past 50 run mark without getting out and a team full of gutless wonders who have no pride in themselves and there country just so them and there best mates can stay together and hog the limelight, and your looking for positives, give me a break!

Well said. There are no positives for us.

Abrar bowled very well but again the same irrational behaviour from a promising start like shaheen, rauf , imam etc other idiots. Abrar can't run through opposition. at max he will give 30 runs and a very good gill kind of dismissal. But pak bowling is so bad that opposition can score 400 in others bowling. Finally Aqib fraud came out in light after pushing out much worthy foreign coaches.

So Babar was our only player playing positively against India yet he is “exposed”?

57 ODI Avg at a SR of 85..

I will gladly take that unless you can find me Harry Brook, Kohli, Klaasen in our domestic circuit

For last 2 years care to mention his average and his SR against top attacks?

The only positive is people got to know rizwan babar Imam shaaheen rauf naseem are all frauds

nsz123dusz081.png

Stadium renovations were exciting though.

I am afraid there is no positive this time.

Maybe Salman Agha is the only positive.

It is hard to see positives however the OP pretty much summed it

Abrar Ahmed is a good find, and adding another spinner such as Sufiyan will go a long way

Khushdil was pretty good, however he should be a short term option, as I feel there can be better finishers that need to be invested in

Although Shaheen was predictable, and did not use his brain, while bowling, he did bowl with some serious pace vs India

The reality is overall there was a lot of negatives in this tournament.

Here are some genuine positives.

1) People waking up to Babar and Rizwan

Their still some posters like @daytrader who will never learn, but atleast a majority now know that these 2 men are frauds and the reality of fakhar or bust.

Multiple tournaments botched thanks to these 2 clowns.

2) The importance of Fakhar and Saim

People learning about the simple fact that fakhar was 50% of our batting lineuo with saim being the other 50%

3) Bowling is a joke

You are being biased and only remembering the good times..

Not saying he’s the best player in the world neither the most consistent, but him and Saim are our best chance of winning a game with the bat right now.

You don’t feel the helplessness that you feel as a fan when the likes of Babar, Rizwan, Saud, Kamran etc are batting.

Positives:

Stadiums renovated, Abrar's bowling is a good sign, Babar accepted that he is no king and should be given red card now. Pacer trio hype is fake

God bless anyone who wants to find any positives! This CT campaign for Pakistan is akin to India's campaign in the 2007 WC.

Is this a blessing in disguise thread?

If yes, then please use the blessing in disguise specifically. Otherwise it does not land.

It’s the third consecutive ICC white ball cup where you guys haven’t even made the second round, what positives can you find here? Your fast bowlers are garbage, top order is overrated, you don’t have a second spinner, lower order batting is non-existent, captaincy is atrocious. What positives can you find here? Sacking the whole team & rebuilding is the only solution.

Agree. 360 revamp needed. Pace Trio is over-hyped

If we have even a tiny bit of dignity left , we should not be looking for ANY thing positive from this humiliation . It was a disaster , a bad dream and nothing good can be taken from our early exit from CT.

Pakistan is out of the Champions Trophy but still has to host the rest of the tournament. It’s like paying EMI's for a stolen phone.

God bless anyone who wants to find any positives! This CT campaign for Pakistan is akin to India's campaign in the 2007 WC.
India's campaign in 2007 was bad? Oh sorry you meant odi, my bad.

Yea, the ODI WC.
That campaign was better then this one. The thing that I hate about India is that some of their players are brats and that on multiple occasions they show very poor sportsmenship such as celebrating a rained off draw against Australia despite getting thrashed in BGT minus one fluke win in perth due to Australia underestimating bumrah was comical beyond belief.

However their players have always played for their country. Mentality wise they wear their hearts on their sleeves and are a very proud cricketing nation. Besides their attitudes aren't an issue for me. Despite their cry baby attitudes, nothing will ever beat classic Australia's attitudes 🤣🤣. Good God pointing, and waugh were loony toons.

Pakistan ct 2025 is filled with besharam cricketers. Key examples include

A) Babar Azam scolding and shouting at fakhar on camera for not taking doubles and not rotating strike despite fakhar being in extreme visible pain. The irony is that while both were on strike, Fakhst had a higher strike rate then babar and babar doesn't see anything wrong with his innings.

B) Players taking drs reviews without any consultation. Shaheen's drs review despite being plumb out not only wasted time but added nothing to the team. And while I've started to dislike kohli in recent times, Shaheen bowling delibrare wides to prevent his century? Like bro what is wrong with you? Blame yourself for not taking a wicket? And why are you bowling wides?

What message are you sending? Aka I don't want you to beat me, so I'll beat myself and humiliate my own country?

C) Rizwan consistently throwing all his players under the bus in every single post match conference. Even in the last game where he said the middle order was slow, he cleavery phrased it in a way to blame saud shakeel. Yes saud is at fault but rizzu essentially said that he was playing the anchor role and it's saud fault for not accelerating and throwing it away.

D) Idk if you've been following twitter but the players attacking fans on twitter? Bhai the fans want you guys to play for your country. We don't care about losses, we just care about you guys playing as a team and not attacking each other.

Atleast Indian players respect one another? Kohli acknowledging that he should not have gotten mom in wc 2024 and bumrah should have? Every player in 2011 playing their hearts out for Sachin knowing full well it was the King's last wc? Rohit and kohli's love affair is a meme but atleast they support one another through thick and thin, that's extremely admirable even if it's somewhat selfish.

2007 India tried. This team didn't.

Nothing positive

We got exposed badly instead

Host nation who was hosting ICC tournament after almost 3 decades gone in 4 days

Great post

Humiliated & booted out in the group stage, Ind will play the final in Dubai. Naqvi can carry on painting the stands at Gaddafi & pindi.

Babar is no king. He is an emperor with no clothes.

The inky positive for Pakistan is that the stadiums are slightly better than what they used to be.

Shaheen Shah was literally getting spanked like a spinner. Shubman, Kohli & even Hardik was charging down the track & whacking him over his head. Except for that 1 magic delivery against Rohit - he was awful

He has got his pace back which is important. Pakistani bowlers are rarely going to be intelligent or disciplined enough to hit a line and length.

Pace, swing and jazba have to make up for it.

Rizwan and Babar to be kicked out.

One more opportunity for Azam Khan

Shadab Khan to return as skipper.

Saim Ayub will be free from influence of his mentors RizBar.

Naseem Shah will spearhead the attack.

Imam ul Haq to field at 3rd man with SSA axed.

Babar and Rizwan should be kicked out, agreed

Azam Khan should be nowhere near the team

Shadab Khan should never play for Pakistan again

Saqlain should stay away, else Shadab will come back

Faheem is just not good enough to play for Pakistan

Saim will not be influenced by RizBar - this is good

Naseem Shah should also be shown the door for now

Imam ul Haq should never play for Pakistan again

Just to be clear, SSA should be kicked out of the team.. I don't care about his pace, he has lost his swing, line and length.. needs to go back and work on his skills big time..

And he appears to be a bad influence in the dressing room, greedy for captaincy, backed by his father in law...

Show him the door please..

Yes, they stay the same.

Yes, they stay the same.
And what are those accomplishments? Icc cricketer of the year 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Most runs ever scored by a Pakistani in a world cup? Highest run scorer of 2021 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

Bas karo bhai. I can name you a list of batters who were > even peak 2019 babar.

2019
1) Roy
2) Hales
3) Butler
4) Morgan
5) Bairstow
6) Stokes
7) Root
8) Warner
9) Finch
10) Maxwell
11) Steve Smith
12) Alex Carey
13) Rohit Sharma
14) Kl Rahul
15) Virat kohli
16) Dhoni
17) Shikhar Dhawan
18) Kane Williamson
19) Shakib ul hasan (2019 form)

babar was only > Sa players who performed poorly in that tournament however skill wise qdk, Makram, Faf du plessis, Hashim amla, Aiden makram, David miller and van der dussan are >>> Even 2019 babar.

And babar was > guptil, Ross taylor and basically NZ players at the end of their cricketing lifespan. In their primes their all > 2019 babar.

If I were ti include the players in their prime, the list would extend to 30.

30 batters > 2019 Babar azam. Heck fakhar zaman, Haris sohail themselves would rank massively > 2019 babar azam.

He's the most overrated batsmen I've laid my eyes on. The desperate attempt to turn him into kohli is comical.

Pakistan will remain winless and at bottom of group , which is more insulting and disgraceful
