Driving Test Tomorrow!!!

Someone please give me least minute advice, I will be well and truly grateful.

I am really nervous, I might mess up on my reverse park and anticipation.

My tips -

1. If it's a woman, trying chatting her up or complimenting her, never hurts ;-)

2. If it's an old hag, compliment her on her immaculate clothes and makeup :P

3. If it's a man, try to do exactly as he says and keep conversation to a minimum

4. If it's a person like mig dada, try not to make fun of his age or drive too fast...

If you follow those guidelines you should be ok :P .....Try and relax also....

Cheers Zushy, really appreciate it and will take note. And I thought it was Time Pass I was posting it in. Such is my fear of failure.

Make it obvious that you are looking in the rear view mirror. Make it obvious to the examiner that you are looking at your mirrors.

MIRROR-SIGNAL-MANOUVERE!!

You will feel nervous now, but when you actually get behind the wheel just keep calm and those nerves will settle down.

I was unsuccessful..............I FAILED!! If only i stayed on longer and took your advice. ONE MISTAKE!! rest were small minors. I looked behind, saw a car and moved off even though I saw it!! I was under immense pressure.

Thanks for everyone who posted. Like I said, if only I stayed on longer at work on Friday. I should pass my second, I was ALMOST flawless in this TEST.

So sorry to hear that Al!

Don't worry, I had a friend who went 8 times before she got her licence....

My brother got his at the second attempt. The idea is, go back as soon as possible, don't wait too long!

I got mine first attempt...maybe 'cause I was wearing a mini skirt and low-cut blouse...

Kidding! ;) So, get back on that horse and ride again!

Unlucky mate...thats what is with with tests, u've got to be SOOO careful, no risks, even though everyone takes risks when they pass, but on the test u've got to be patient, and hope u don't come across a dodgy situation...in other words u need luck. I was definately lucky, passed first time, even though i nearly caused a pile up, cause i braked without looking in my mirror....the guy was lenient, let me off.

Pakistan batsman ke peeche to bht pare hote ho kal pata chalegah pressure kia hota hai.
Butt-AAH

Inshallah you will pass. As my sister always say "Pass to sub hee hojatay hain - Fail honay mai mehnat karnee partee hai!" - loosely translated - do fhe basics right and you will pass.

2 pieces of advice:

1. Do not try and bribe the RTA guy!
2. A friend of mine ran over the examiner trying to reverse the car during his test in Saudi - suffice to say, he did not get a license for a while :31 - In other words, please dont run over the RTA guy?

Insh'Allah you'll pass

BUT

God help the pedestrians of Dubai!

y r u taking this driving test? did u get promoted in ur biryani business as a delivery driver :P

Good luck yaar.Dont be nervous, and dont be all sweaty and shaky.InshaAllah it'll be fine :)

My sis is taking lessons and she'll give her test in December.

Two VERY important things:
1.Keep checking the mirrors and dont just glance towards it,turn your head slightly,so that the examiner can see
2.If the examiner asks you to go in a wrong way,ie,drive through one way road in opposite direction or go against ANY kind of traffic rules or any kind of signs.DO NOT obey.Just politely say,"Thats against the rules, sir."
He'll probably say,"Oh its okay,I'm with you".DO NOT give in.Its their trick.
Then ask him,"where should I go next?"so as to let him know that you are totally reluctant to do it.
This is because they test you whether you break the rules easily;obey stuff even if its wrong...etc

Those two are my dad's tips to my sister.Hope they work! :)

I also got those tips from different people. anyway i would like to add one more thing... while on a traffic light, do not stop in the middle. Make up ur mind and do not cross on red light. Plan early, he might take you to a light that has a short opening and closing time so be careful about that. And the Parallel parking is usually simple so i think u will do good :D

Hmm..Acha.Is this your test after forty days of class? or the tests in between?
I dont know much about it.

She goes to EDI :)

40 classes ke bad final test hota hai hehe pehle nhi de sakta road test and EDI is good for girls she will get license in her first try and what about u tum abhi 18 ki nhi howi ?

Just chill and take it easy. You've taken 40 lessons. You are a good driver, you will pass InshAllah.

Some friend of mine failed a few times when his instructor was certain he would pass. He was just too nervous on the day. Don't be nervous. Be relax, be calm.

Al-Ain ka kia procedure hai ? :)

kuch nai, go open you file, then you have to go got 3 classes, then a written exam, then you have the parking and road tests...you used to be able to hire instructors privately but I think they centralised that process also now.

oh lol, did you improve from your 1st try or same mistakes as before?

I hear that in the Mid EAst, you take your test with other people - and if you fail, they just ask you get out - and you have to make your own way home?

I'm still in shock after my wife passed in Sept!!!

^^ lol dunno about Dubai, but that definitely happens in Al Ain/Abu Dhabi

I don't know how you started to learn the car but my 1st lessons in car driving were this ---- by my elder brother;

1st three months (yes, this is a long time), he would take me to an open field (or a big empty parking lot). He would tell to just drive --- only "traffic" rule was to keep the speed under 50 KM per Hour. Other than that I was allowed and supposed to do anything while driving. He told me to pay attention to only five things - steering wheel, break, accelerator, clutch & gear (only three things if you are driving automatic) --- and nothing else.

Idea behind this exercise is --- to know how car reacts to break, accelrator and the movement of the steering wheel --- meaning how to learn to control the car --- before you start driving on the roads. This way when on the raod, you will only pay attention to the traffic rules -- not to the controlling your car.

So for three months, I did nothing but parking lot --- before I brought the car on the steer. Drove 125-150 km just in the parking lot (open field). I was sick of it but I learned to control the car. Passed the test on 1st try. :11:

Now I have taught driving to four new drivers here in USA with exact same method and all of them passed the driving test on their first try.

I know, the problem with a lot of new drivers is that they get impatient and start driving on the road sooner than they should. So they have two learn two things on he road --- traffic rules and control of the car and they can't do that.

This advice may be a little too late for Ayyub but anybody who is yet to sit behind the steering wheel, I guarantee success with this method.

Uhmm this December it will be three years since I have my learner (or G1) and I haven't gone for road test yet :(

Dont worry Ayyub, it took me 4 tries to pass my Dubai test...they are idiots over there. On my first attempt the guy had no intention of passing me at all...I had a perfect drive, absolutely perfect.

It was a police guy taking the exam and the first thing he did as he sat in the car was reclined his seat back big time, then he put the radio on some arabic music channel and cranked the volume up...he then proceeded to take phone calls during my exam...prat. At the end of it they handed me a slip in arabic telling me what i did wrong...i dont read or understand arabic so that might as well have been chinese.

They didnt tell us to get out of the car though if we failed, basically all of us would drive for arund 5 - 7 minutes each, and then the policeman would drive us back...none of us would be told if we passed or failed. Then we sat in a waiting room for an agonising 20 mins or so before they handed us the pass/fail slips.

I eventually passed after 4 attempts...there were people there who were taking their 17th attempt...

My sister said that today she was driving and the Dubai Airshow was going on and planes were flying and doing those cool stunts. Her (Malwari) instructor saw those planes and she said.."OH LOOK".My sister didnt. and then her instructer was like."Oh.. DONT LOOK!!":P

If you need prayers to pass a road test, then I guess the passengers will need to pray whenever you drive. :)

Good luck!!

I've had my permit for a while and haven't scheduled a road test yet. Driving is simple but parallel parking is a b**** for me. Hopefully another few weeks and I'll be set.

hmmm ok guys this is my 3rd try on 8 December plz pray ke mein pass ho jao

Ameen

Allah kare kay aap eshaani say pass ho jain bhaijan :D
Aap apni taraaf sey puri try karna. Agar aap nay kuch ghalat kar bhi diya toh koi bat ni, usko apnay concentration tak mat jaane day na :D

Inshallah you will. Just go in with a cool mind and everything will be easy. Also, don`t try to cram anything in last minute especially things like parallel parking and how to do them. This stuff should already be in your head when you go cause the nerves at the time make us forget everything.

I remember doing the road test last year.. and luckily I was ready for everything and passed cause the nerves got the best of me.
