Pakistan will need to draw or win this game to win the series which sounds easy but South Africa will come hard at them.

So does Babar Azam's team have the capability to win this series?

Should be another easy win for Pakistan. Despite Pindi stadiums reputation of being seamer friendly, they can make a spin inducing putch if they want to. I have seen some t20 games in Pindi where the ball was turning square. However even if the pitch had some sort of assistance for pace we are still good enough at home to beat this South African side.

Rawalpindi will suit the SA pacers. Meanwhile Pakistan have 2 walking wickets as openers and are likely to have a longer tail if they go for the extra pacer instead of Nauman.

While Karachi was perfect for Pakistan, Pindi has all the capability to exploit all of the massive weaknesses in Pakistan's line up - batting, pace bowling, and facing high quality pace bowling.

Batting - Pakistan have two walking wickets as openers meaning so much depends on the middle order

Pace bowling - Shaheen and Hasan are club level. Faheem is a nothing bowler. I won't even waste any words on Rauf.

Facing high quality pace bowling - Pindi pitches will suit the SA pace trio much more than Karachi did.

We should be winning. First big home series in a very long time, let's seal it with a whitewash and make home a fortress again.

I hope the pitch is not too seam friendly, as they have the bowlers to benefit from that and we do not. Let's allow Yasir and Nauman to be the game changers again please, and hopefully the top order can actually step up for the first time in a long while.

Make it a spinning pitch, hope that Shamsi remains injured, and bowl well and this game will be ours.

The top order needs runs. I have said this so many times that if you have one good opening partnership in the subcontinent, you will compete extremely well in the conditions. Abid Ali will surely fail again, I don't know how many tests he needs for us to see that he is not a good opener, if he plays the second test, that will be his 10th test match, and if he doesn't perform, his average will dip below 38, which is not good for an opening batsman.

Make it a spin bowling track and play the following team:

Azhar Ali
Imran Butt
Saud Shakeel/Kamran Ghulam (If Shamsi does not play, and SA go in with Linde+Maharaj, we should play Saud.)
Babar Azam (c)
Fawad Alam
Mohammad Rizwan (wk)(vc)
Faheem Ashraf
Yasir Shah
Hasan Ali
Nauman Ali
Shaheen Shah Afridi

That's the best squad.

Pakistan win hopefully if barring improved and also we get team combination right.

Abid Ali and Imran Butt don't inspire much confidence. Would be better to get a makeshift opener, whether it's Saud Shakeel and Rohail Nazir. Aus recently did it with Paine.

Even if shamsi is fit we will beat them if its a dust bowl.

But if its swings and South africa bowl first it will then be 60-40 south africa

if its a dust bowl and even if shamsi plays pakistan will win easily

If thiers assistance then id say 60-40 south africa

I just want to see good cricket like the previous Test. Won't mind SA levelling the series :D

Obviously I want Pakistan to win, but if curator was unable to prepare a turning tack , SA will win.

Pakistan's opening pair and pace bowling is very weak.

Shamsi is a chinaman, and on a dust bowl, being able to spin it both ways will be difficult to negotiate. We will have to bludgeon him out of the attack, and take singles to avoid letting him settle into a rhythm.

I think it's going to be a dust bowl, there's no way PCT would authorize a green pitch against SA. It would be playing into their hands.

Hoping for a SA win but backing Babar for a test ton too.

#Conundrum

SA win. I think QDK will be relieved knowing he is not going to be captain after 2nd test so he will play freely.

Mahraj their most threatening bowler is most likely gonna be out due to injury, Shamsi may or may not play and Mulder might get a chance.

Well looking at the pitch and the weather, a draw looks the favourite, although Pakistan's spinners must be licking their lips.

If we can get 240-250 then game should be Pakistan's

I reckon Pakistan will want minimum 250 anything above will be beyond SA’s grasp

This is mortal kombat. No draw, either Pakistan win or South Africa will win

Pakistan win.

No way SA is chasing this against Yasir and Noman on a 5th day pitch.

If they do it will be a remarkable performance.

Lightning isn’t going to strike twice where 2 teams chase nearly 400 in the space of 2 days, that too in Asia.

Pakistan will win - 80% win ratio I would give.

SA have been played well though and good to seem them fighting it out.

I am getting a little bit worried to be honest, I can see these 2 and de Kock recreating what Buttler and Woakes did to us last year in Manchester. Granted, there is a lot longer to go in this game however, and we've seen in this series that a South African collapse is never too far around the corner.

If we can come out the blocks quickly tomorrow morning, and pick up 2 or 3 in the session, we should wrap this up with no drama.

Remember it's a Pindi wicket. It doesn't deteriorate as much as it does at NSK and GSL. The record says this as well. The results favour the team batting last

Pakistani fans will be worried looking at recent trend. But South African batting line up is too brittle. Pakistan got this one.

Hoping I'm wrong but Rawalpindi 2021 could become an even more heartbreaking version of Manchester 2020.

That's the key issue here.

Saffers will do it easily...we need to be defensive and offensive at same time which i doubt is not possible

Its Pindi, the wicket eases as the game goes on. Pakistan should have shut off the game/series by batting till tea. Hassan Ali's spell in the morning and then around the lunch time will be more crucial for Pak than Yasir and Nouman....

Good call then bro, i expected us to draw here but definitely win in Karachi.

Does anyone besides me wanna give Imran another go? He’s a good slips catcher

Il give him 1 more series but defonitely drop abid

Catches win matches bro. Trust me good fielders are a rarity, give the boy some backing and inshAllah he does well. I did like some of the strokes he played to be honest.

I think he should be dropped. I don't think he deserved to get picked in the first place because he essentially had one good season. If you go back and look at his numbers pre-2019 he's averaging in the 20s almost every season.

I wouldn't mind seeing Usman Salahuddin at the top of the order. Granted, he is not an opener but like Fawad he has a wealth of FC experience behind him, pretty good numbers and is someone who possesses the ability to occupy the crease, and the potential to blunt the new ball.

I said exactly the same thing bro, I wouldn't mind seeing Salhuddin-Muhammad Saad at the top of the order but i maintain Saud Shakeel is best played at no. 3/4 cause that is where you will get the most out of him.

Imran Butt is a great slips catcher and had he not latched onto those grabs we surely would've lost the game and it is a rarity we find good fielders these days especially in the slips. He had some good looking strokes and yes 4 innings he didn't score nothing. I would've been somewhat satisfied with a mid 20s score but I'd like to still trial him in the Zimbabwae series with Abdullah Shafique.

I genuinely feel saddened about Abid Ali's form and so I say his dropping is justified, I hope he comes back stronger after working in the performance center inshAllah.

Even if he didnt take them catches i would stil give him 1 series but catches are a bonus

i would open with Salahuddin and imran butt (last chance) or if Salahuddin doesnt make the squad then i would go azhar and butt and saud at 3 his shots top notch.

As for shafique i would stil say 1 more season of domestic but hes a proper talent.

Same with Haider ali,Omair bin yosuf, rohail nazir

Usman salahaddin oppened this year its a move that wasim said that he wants Salahuddin as that is the position he will be picked for Pakistan. He cant get in the team as a middle order bateman

Yep those are fair points. I was speaking to someone earlier who has a live interaction session and asked what changes he would apply, and the response was that opening is a concern and possibly having Asad return. I think Shafiq is a solid batsmen and could prove strong with the likes of Fawad in the middle order but if we compare his stats to the rest of the guys who played this season's QeA then it was unfortunately second best i.e. Hammad Azam, Saud Shakeel, Kamran Ghulam and Usman Salhuddin.

Maybe we can trial some middle order batsmen as openers and see how that experiment goes (can't do worse than the current setup). I think now that you've selected Abdullah give him a chance and pair him with Imran.

abdullah was only selected so he doesnt loose heart or confidence he wasnt going to play the test series but its obvious hes talented and hard worker.
salahadin has played in the middle order in domestic and this year he batted oppening as thats the only way he will get into the squad/team.shafiq is a no go for me.

A lot of media people (who i will leave nameless) were kinda outraged at Asad's dropping, he was a good player and don't wish to speak ill of anyone but honestly i can't remember him ever playing a fearless innings and plus there is no reason with the current competition in the middle order being high.
