England fought back to win the first Test and now the second Test has been drawn due to rain.

Can Pakistan win the third Test and draw another series in England or will the hosts clinch victory.

Worst of all… will rain play a part?

Need a few good men to stand up!

Batting needs to perform and we should beat England.

England would have to play really badly for Pakistan to win.

England's batting is superior to Pakistan's (this is assuming Azhar and Asad will continue the same performance) and their bowling is at best, at par.

What Pakistan needs to beat England is aggression and mental toughness which they don't have - that has been a central feature of Pakistan's longstanding failure in Test cricket and the appointment of Azhar as captain and Misbah as coach proves PCB does not see it as a priority.

Off course we can beat these. No doubt about it. Still thing we need a 5th bowler.
Our performance will only improve. Remember Asad has to make a place saving score in this test, so that will be enough runs on the board

A lot depends on the weather

To be honest I’d like to see Imam ul Haq in the side. I think he has a lot of potential and he can score some runs in English conditions.

Shan
Abid
Azhar
Babar
Imam ul Haq
Fawad Alam
Rizwan
Yasir
Shaheen
Abbas
Sohail (Naseem needs rest)

I think the weather will effect the game yet again and we won't have a result.

If only they played Sohail Khan on this wicket.

They of course can. England are no longer a force at Test level. However, England start off as favorites.

History works in our favour and i hope we do even though i have no belief in the management.

Eng barely won first test.

Naseem has only bowl 5 and u r saying he needs rest.... Who will play sohail khan or imran khan..... The bowling remains same ......probably shadab or imam should replace fawad

Babar’s time has come for him to prove he’s part of the fab 4. Needs to win Pak this match with a 150+ score or else for non-Pakistani fans he will remain on the fringes until Kohli, Smith retire

Definitely.... Look 4 weather forecast n plan accordingly....if it's overcast n it's likely 2 b same then bowl first up and with continuous pace bowling in first 1 and half hour look 4 as many wickets as can.....play aggressive ly set aggressive field and plz arrange the slip cordon well they are standing too deep and also too far from one another...... If the forecast is partly cloudy and there is chance of sunshine bat first up....... See off 2 hours with minimum damage say 50 odd for 2..... Then in the afternoon session cash in on sunny weather ...... And don't play with too defensive mindset while batting or bowling..... In these conditions key is batting outside the crease with long stride to negate swing .....also try to play as late as possible nd with soft hands .....if pak could manage around 330.... Then game on....eng topor der is not that strong against sustained seam n swing......... And even though they bat deep .....it's possible to kept them below 180 200

Shaheen and Nadim need to be rested. Both are too inexperienced and are being made to carry a lot of weight. Bring in Sohail and Wahab for the last game.

They are resting from day 5 of last Test, how much do they need? If anyone that should need a rest is Abbas, but that weakens the attack most.

The best bowler in these conditions will be in the grandstand.

Two or three geriatrics (Azhar, Shafiq, Fawad) will ruin the batting line-up.

Am I becoming Mamoon ?

The England team isn't as good as we think and especially with no Stokes and struggles of Root they have a weak middle order. However, the lower order and the bowlers add in vital runs which helps them score around 200-300 runs. Pakistan has to bat well twice to win the test. Bowling from both sides has been really good and competitive and I expect both of them to do well in the 3rd Test too. In bowling, Abbas and Yasir will be key whereas in batting everyone has to chip in to score the vital runs.

If he says drop them, then PP will crucify him. So resting is a good way to hide from the people who will get offended from saying anything bad about Naseem.

At least that's what I've been doing :)) just say rest instead of saying dropping due to being poor.

Replace with crap sohail imran and we don't know how it goes Wahab

At least Wahab and Sohail are are experienced and know the art of test bowling, they can actually setup and execute a plan. Naseem just runs in and throws the ball gun barrel straight, barely any movement or zip. He never looks like taking a wicket.

To beat England in last test, Azhar ali needs to demote himself to number 4. Shan, Abid and Babar has potential to see off the new ball. Fawad should come at 5 and Shafiq at 6 where he has scored plenty of runs in past.

Although, the toughest decision would be to play only 1 teenager, and I reckon Naseem may be the one getting some rest. Unfortunately we are only left with Wahab (Cant go with trundlers like Imran and Sohail) who can generate some real pace with extra bounce to trouble English batters.

I feel they have improved as the series has gone on - need to put in that extra bit and square the series.

England are without Ben Stokes, Root can't find his form....

Bowling mai Anderson is a geriatric, Archer has been kicked out....

Keeper Butler can't take catches or do stumpings

Slip fielders regularly drop 2/3 catches every innings....

What more do you need to beat England

England squad for third test:-

Burns
Sibley
Crawley
Root
Pope
Buttler(wkt)
Woakes
Curran
Broad
Archer/Wood
Anderson

Pakistan squad for third test:-

Masood
Abid
Azhar
Babar
Shafiq
Fawad
Rizwan(wkt)
Yasir
Shaheen
Abbas
Naseem

Both teams will have same squad except one change for England.

Only if they drop asad and azhar (which seems impossible)
then they have a chance

I just hope that it is not another washout. Both teams are on par with each other. The result of the first test could have gone either way. It would be a great watch to have two equally strong teams go at each other. Most often we see just one side dominating the match.

I also think Babar Azam is due a century.

Yes, Pakistan can win the last test. I expect their best effort in the last one

Should have won the first test, could have won the second test, will win the third test (weather permitting)

1st of all I don't think Imam at 5 is going to work, I don't think he ever played a game at that position. Why Naseem needs rest he bowled only 5 overs in 2nd tedt match. Pakistan can go with pretty much same pace attack because all of them had plenty of rest.

Whole #AsianBloc is with Team Greens on this one.

Make Asia proud.

Pakistan are better than England but Azhar unfortunately is a dead weight reducing the match to 10 versus 11.

Let me repeat myself once again:

Pakistan is a deeply mediocre team that is not only incapable of devising match-winning strategy, it is also woefully short on ability and mental fortitude.

We have absolutely no ability to bat properly and we can only score if the English fielders forget how catch. Our bowling is exceptionally overrated and moreover, as soon as the momentum shifts, we have absolutely no ability to fight our way back.

If rain doesn’t play spoilsport, England will make it 2-0.

As I keep saying, there is a huge disconnect between what our fans expect from the team and what the team is actually capable of.

If we were half as good as we think we are, we would be doing a lot better.

Depends on the weather. Yes we can if all five days are played.

They are resting from day 5 of last Test, how much do they need? If anyone that should need a rest is Abbas, but that weakens the attack most.

Not physical rest...but a rest from trying to lead the attack. Regardless of how good the young guns are they are still inexperienced and it shows.

England are better in all areas but the gap isn't huge. There are a couple of players in our side capable of shining and we'll need them to perform.

I'm looking at Shan, Babar, Yasir and Abbas to make the difference if we're going to win this one.

Pakistan bowlers are well rested - they need to do the business now and get Pakistan the win they need.

I think we should go with the same XI.

Weather-permitting we should win this Test as I feel our bowlers have improved as the series went on and ENG bowling hasn't been that special. Even at their best in 2nd test they were unable to separate Babar and Rizwan and we handled that 1st session pretty well in very tough conditions against a relentless attack.

We just have to make sure the batting doesn't implode. One of the openers or Babar HAVE to make a century to ensure we get a strong 1st innings score (300+).
Worst case scenario, we need the top 6 to take us to 200ish and then Rizwan and the tail have proven they can easily add 70+ runs.

Really hope weather and bad light stays away.

Fawad and Babar have a lot to prove in this test, albeit for different reasons.

I think it's based on opinion on who's better but I belive Pakistan are a better team

Lot of pressure on Azhar now - he could end up as the first Pakistan captain to lose a series to England in about 10 years

This is looking increasingly ominous for Pakistan - England are 259/4 from 74 overs. A big first innings score - and a very long 5 days for Pakistanis - is on the cards here.

Will take a draw from here. We can't win the series anyway and that was the only excitement in terms of results.
Drawing the test from here is enough to say well played to Pakistan.
We keep forgetting this is an away tour in very difficult conditions for subcontinent sides.

Agree

Pakistani fans are being too hard on their team

They have actually played above their standards in this series

I think the series is now as good as done, I’m afraid.

England can probably only win or draw the game from this position.

Hope: Pakistan have to get wickets in this session, at least have them 7 or 8 down by lunch, so they can get out batting in the second and third session where it will be good batting conditions and bat long.

Reality: England will bat into the 3rd session, score 450+ and have Pakistan 2 down before close of play.

Realistically speaking, there are somewhere around 150 overs left in the game.

Assuming England bat for 20 off them after tea today, Pakistan have to survive for 130ish overs. On this wicket, don't think England will bowl them out twice.

Some sort of heroic rearguard action by likes of Azhar, Asad, Fawad and Rizwan is the only hope of drawing this game along with weather

Given the weather forecast (rain for the next two days), it will most likely be a draw.

There are 3 days left in the match and England might not bat again.... the mountain of all mountains must be climbed by Pakistan to even escape with a draw imo.

Good chance of a draw if the weather helps us.

Officially, 196 overs left but there is rain threat. I think 75 overs will be sufficient in second innings - despite Azhar’s galant effort & almost carrying the innings, PAK could bat only 93 overs.

This is a wonderful batting surface.
Just negotiate new ball and you can capitalize on it.

Pakistan will make more then what they made in first innings. There is still lots of cricket to be played

With the persistent weather around, seems very likely a draw will be the outcome. As long as Pakistan don't choke like the 2nd innings of the 1st Test, they can avoid an innings defeat humiliation.

Pakistan reach 40/0 on this 4th morning, the best opening partnership in the whole series from either side. Rain looks like it's on it's way too.

This follow-on is actually blessing in Disguise for Pakistan.

English bowlers looked a tad tired. Pitch is flat and new ball has been
negotiated successfully. Pakistan must press accelerater beyond 20 overs
I have a funny feeling about this

True - Pak batsmen looking less hassled than usual so lets see.

So final day of the game - can Pakistan escape with a draw?

We aren’t likely to get more than 40-50 overs in today. The match is likely to end up as a draw.

The Pakistan win is essentially impossible.

It would take a special spell from Anderson or Broad, or some very poor batting from Pakistan, for the match to end up as an England win.
