After the 2 Test series in New Zealand, Pakistan face Australia as underdogs despite Australia not having a great time of it against South Africa.

Pakistan's record in Australia is horrendous and many feel it would be a huge achievement for them to even win one Test.

What do you think the outcome of the series will be?

i reckon Australia will 2-0. Pakistan batting would click in final test to earn a draw.

2-1 to Pakistan!!
I think Pakistan has slight edge on Australia this time around, even we perform bad in NZ. The performance in NZ should be now taken as a Practice matches. I Think infect i am sure Misbah will create a history by beating Australia.

Go Misbah we are backing you!

Anything other than 3-0 to Australia will be surprising.

Australia score big and quick on their pitches, Pakistan can't match their pace and batting out for a draw will be very tough.

IMO If surprisingly Australia dish out a pace friendly track and Pakistan win the toss, then maybe there is a shot. Otherwise no, I don't see them standing much of a chance.

Pakistan will be in the receiving end of a 3 - 0 whitewash and finally Misbah will be exposed and people will realise he isn't what he is made to be.

A defensive captain who picked defensive, timid players to play a defensive brand of cricket. He loves his old veterans like zulfi cobra and has his favourites because he was a politician..

How dare some deluded fans on this forum compare him to the great Imran Khan...

Australia will be ruthless in this series. They have lost too many away series and lost to south africa at home. Both australia and pakistan will be hungry to win a series but australia have the advantage.

3-0 Australia.

If Pakistan draw a Test and leave Australia losing 2-0, it will be an achievement for this rubbish team.

3-0 to Australia. Saffers had a quality bowling attack but I don't see Pakistani bowlers having the same impact .

I too voted for a Pakistan win but at least I gave 1 consolation victory to the Australian team as well :P

I'd wager my house Australia will lose this series 2-1.

But the problem will be, because Australia will lose , because of the weakest team since 1979, Misbah will be considered greater than Imran Khan after this.

Which will be the real tragedy.

You need to get your priorities right. If we beat Australia in Australia I don't give a damn if people start calling Misbah better than Clive Lloyd. Who cares what people say? Also it doesn't matter how weak this Australian team is. They are still tough as hell in their own conditions and an Asian team beating them in australia will be considered one of the greatest achievements by any captain ever.

We will beat them.

My priority is beating the best teams in best of conditions.

Not a weak team.

But even beating a weak team, will have our work cut out in front of us.

I am just hopeful we have enough to overcome them.

People are underestimating how good this Aussie team is in their conditions. South Africa has similar conditions to Australia which is why they compete so well there. Right now, beating Australia in Australia (even against their current team) is the biggest challenge for any asian team.

Well my point is,

If we can't beat them with only 4 realistic players aka Warner, Smith , Hazelwood and Starc, we will never beat them.

The rest of the players are just average, or extremely new (A case could be made for Khawaja who is much more better though).

If we can't beat a naïve Australian team, then when would we beat them?

Voted for 3-0 as PAK have a mental block against AUS in AUS. They will compete but will not win any match.

We can only think about winning if we've a fast bowler like Asif who can run through sides or Amir has to step up and dismantle Australian batting line up. Otherwise, don't have any expectations from our batting. Bowling will make the difference.

Yes we will not get a better chance

Nearly half the votes so far predict 3-0 to Australia.

Younis Khan will score more than 500 runs in the series.

over the year i have never seen you support the team? i guess why don't u simply stop following? i am sure by this way Pakistan would have a hater less. and you can rip aswell.

I'm sorry if you feel that way, but supporting the team ≠ expecting them to win.

1) You need to look up what real tragedies actually are - how a cricket captain is ranked historically isn't one of them.

2) Its nice to see our own "fans" rooting for the failure of their own captain.

Who said I am rooting for his failure.

I hope he wins.

The man deserves it for the effort he put into a shambolic team.

It's only those who elevate him "into something more than he is" that are going to have a field day.

That was my only point.

Good post.

If we win in Australia I don't care what happens. It would beat 1992.

Pak will have to cope with Fast Pitches, I know Johnson is Gone, But, Still, look at the bounce/pace

3-0 to Australia.

Weakest bowling line up ever of Pakistan to travel to Australia.I think Australia can pile up 400 plus each time they bat against this lackluster Pakistani attack.Batting wise i think this line up is better than that toured Australia in 2009.But if Younis starts dancing again, Pakistan will have no chance.

I am just curious to know that who are those 3 who voted 3-0 in favour of Australia.Must be die hard blind fans.:kakmal

As your are offering your house for free, I guess I will take your wager. Not sure what I would do with a house in Beijing though...

I predicted the defeat in New Zealand.

But I'm really unsure how this will pan out.

A lot depends upon what happens during the week up at Cairns. If they get a proper workout on a proper bouncy pitch, they could be ready.

Then it becomes a matter of whether the bowlers can take 20 wickets, and whether Younis and Misbah can score runs.

Unless rain plays spoilsport, it should be 3-0 Australia. Having said that, let's not forget that Pakistan are called "Cornered Tigers" for a reason. After that blessing in disguise tour of NZ, they may surprise Australia.

2-1 to Pakistan. Guys, remember what everyone said after getting smashed at OT then losing a match we should have won or at least drawn at Edgbaston (and trust me, losing those games are more demoralizing than getting smashed from ball 1) but we came back at Oval and smashed England. I'm telling you guys we will play well this series, can't guarantee we'll win the series but New Zealand was good preparation for this series now we are used to these conditions a bit more

I voted 2-0 Australia but 3-0 is equally as likely as Pakistan do not look like they will be competing at all in the tour.

I predicted the NZ disaster too, because of the green pitches.

In this case, I'm fairly certain that we'll at least draw the series. Winning would be an added bonus! Even drawing would create history, probably the best ever in Pakistan's Test history after the WI draw.

Same here bro.

Australia might be a tough team in their home conditions but they lack experience and the batting is average apart from Warner and Smith. Its the same as England relying on Cook and Root. If we can get Warner and Smith cheaply then we have a really good chance.

Yasir has got to expose the Australian weakness against spin. AGAIN.

Pakistan is cornered. Tiger is waiting to come out. 2-1 to Pakistan.

If we had selected properly we'd have a chance. Now 3-0 is likely.

Yamin, Sharjeel and Imad were musts.

2-1 to Pakistan..

First Subcontinent team to beat Aus in Aus..

Predict the result of the test series between Pakistan and Australia

Although I really hope Pakistan wins, I fear the result will be 3-0 to Australia. :mv

2-1. We'll sneak in a win. Think the NZ series has splashed some dirt on our credentials as a test team, but can't discount us completely after our success in England. This is the best possible result.

Oh man.

I want to say 2-1 Pakistan but probably will turn out to be wrong.

If we win even a single test in Australia, we will have won the tour in general terms.

Because we have lost 9 consecutive tests on the trot.

At the moment, I'd even take us drawing a couple of tests narrowly losing out 1-0 losers.

Question is can we win any match on the tour?? - at least we won a side match 🤡

I don't see us wining any test or Odis. We are so horrible at bounce. Look at NZ , even back in England, how good we were at OT? - This team has same problem as before.

The Oval had the highest amount of bounce and lateral movement and we won that game mate !! Have some confidence brother !!

Remind me, what was your prediction for the England vs. Pak series earlier this year again?

Remind me, what was your prediction for the England vs. Pak series earlier this year again?

Remind me what does it have to do with this series, and for the record, I also predicted that Pakistan will beat NZ.

Moral of the Story: predictions can be right or wrong, but two predictions are not interconnected. There are certain factors that come into play, such as I did not expect the English pitches to be so favorable and I didn't expect that Stokes will miss 3 Tests and Anderson will hurt his shoulder before the first Test.

However, I did expect Pakistani batsmen to fail in NZ on the green pitches and they did, and I also expect our batsmen to struggle against a bowling attack led by Starc and Hazlewood more so than the Australian batsmen against our bowlers.

I also don't expect Australia to lose consecutive home series because it will be disastrous. They will cover all basis and I except them to triumph convincingly.

However, if my wrong prediction for the England series gives you hope that we will beat Australia, good for you I guess.

Nope, OT had nothing but bounce and we bottled... Oval and Lords did not had that much bounce. Whatever Bounce Oval had was with new ball, which Sami and Azhar nullify. I think they still can blunt the new ball. But who is actually going to score is a big question? - Bounce in GABBA will not die down much to the liking of Pakistanis. Pakistan had hard time facing Wagner's (130/134 Avg pace) short pitch forget about Auses in GABBA

Pakistan plays defensive cricket under Misbah.
Australia plays aggressive cricket and we can't handle pressure like Aussies. Our batting was always weak don't expect much but now bowling has deteriorated there's no wicket taker like Shoaib Akhtar to bowl 3 wickets maiden overs. Misbah and Mickey are relying on Yasir to weave magic and pull a miracle. Lets see if that works outside UAE. Bowling has to step up as a unit.

It has everything to do with this series as it is essentially the same team playing again against an opponent that looks more formidable especially at home as was the case when we faced England.

Also the failure of the Pakistani batsmen had as much to do with zero climatisation with alien conditions than the the so-called skills of our batsmen which can also be said of England in India or Australia in Sri Lanka earlier this year.

While I am less optimistic this time, there is always an inkling hope in me that Pakistan can cause an upset. Here's to the boys, from how you put it, 'mediocre' team putting on a fight...

Unless Pakistan bowlers bowl out Australia under 200 in both the innings I don't see a single win for Pakistan. Without rains, these two teams are incapable of draws.
So 3-0 Australia.

3-0 to Australia.

Steve Smith will score close to 400 runs.

Warner will have 1 big century and a few low scores.

Hazlewood will be man of the series. He will rack up over 20 wickets. Stark will get some 10-15 wickets.

Pak bowlers will perform the way exactly they did in NZ. A few jaffas here and there but mostly short and wide.

I really wish we will be competitive and keep the series alive going into the third match but unfortunately what troodon has said here will happen.

Its almost inevitable. Its my feeling and usually it is right as far as these big ticket series are concerned. In England I was predicting a close loss or a draw with one match we lose to be an absolute blowout. Here it will be 3-0 with us perhaps being competitive for 3-4 days in one of them.

Added to the specific prediction above I also think one of the young new Aussie batsmen will have a good series with the other having a terrible series.

If Pakistan win this series somehowit will be greater achievement than 1992 WC

Sky did the stats and found Oval was the most sporting pitch of the series. At Old Trafford we collapsed under scoreboard pressure after England racked up over 550.

But yes, facing short-pitched bowling is a weakness of the team. When you've become accustomed to low bounce wickets on the damp pitches back home or in the deserts of UAE its difficult to develop a back foot game.

I don't think so.

Pak has it in them to win against Aus. But I don't think Pak is mentally strong enough to win in Aus. It will not be totally surprising if Pak wins the series 2-1. If Amir bowls like he he did in 2009-10 and Wahab bowls like he did in WC and Younis/Azhar score a big century every Test, then Pak does have a chance. But the chances of that happening are pretty bleak.

The 1st innings batting of Pak in 1st Test will set the tone for the rest of the series. If Pak folds for less than 200, they will be obliterated by Aus in all 3 Tests.

If Pak somehow scores 400+ in the 1st innings of 1st Test, Aus will start doubting their own abilities.

Series is 90-10 in favor of Aussies.

There is a difference between England and Australia. England play attritional style of cricket (much like us), and they often allow opposition to get back into the game.

Australia play the game very hard. That is why they win hard and lose hard. Pakistan have always struggled with Australia's aggression and it takes a barrage of bouncers in the first session for our batsmen to lose heart, and one attacking innings for our bowlers to lose the plot.

In Australia, you have to take the bull by the horns; you have to take charge of the proceedings. Kohli did that at an individual level in 2014 and South Africa did that collectively in the last series. England did the same in 2010/2011.

It is rare for a team to play attritional cricket and succeed in Australia. South Africa managed that in 2012, but Australia's bowling attack was quite weak at that point. The deeply mediocre Siddle was their strike bowler at that point.

The brand of cricket that Misbah's men play is exactly the type of cricket you are not supposed to play in Australia, which is why if we win this series I would consider it the biggest achievement in Pakistan cricket for a good 15-20 years at least, if not more.
